I've seen times thrown around were the ZR1 beats the GTR by just a few fractions of a second on the same track so who do you believe? Even if you're right about the 2 seconds and those are the honest to God numbers, so what? In just about every other category the ZR1 has been shown to win. Again, it seems to come down to who do you believe? You seem to want to believe the in the GTR but I'm ambivalent about the whole thing.
@Warblade118 i believe that a supercharged 6.2L V8 should be much faster than a twin turbo 3.8L V6, especially if it costs more, has 110hp more power, and weighs 200KG less than the GTR.

I agree something isn't right about the nurburgring times but I don't understand why you're so fixated on that one track. Especially when there is no standardized way cars are tested on that track. In just about all other types of testing the ZR1 did better in most of the things tested, so unless you own a GTR and I own a ZR1 and we fly them to Germany its not going to matter.

Diesals are old school technology, even older then Otto's cycle on some accounts. So why do your import gods use them for there trucks. If they are so much better, why not make a 1.6L I3 to run everything.
@Dmac11a666 You can build up a 4 and 6 to make much more that 300hp. Built from the bottom end up using the same quality racing grade parts as this big block it's possible to make 400-600hp or better on a 4cyl and 600-1200out on a 6. It's all about what class you want ot race in and what type of motor you're going to run and for how long.
But in the end...gotta love the roar of a V8. Just no substitute for it. :)
I know twin turboes are great for peaky HP numbers, but man, despite their drawbacks, there is nothing like the instant neck snapping power of a big roots blower! Id love to have the money to build something like this and hit the strip.
yfz162 commented on being called compounding boost. it's also called turbo-supercharging. WWII air craft engines did this and it was done on some older trains.

You can put a turbo system on top of a blower. I have seen it done on a few cars, it's called compounding boost. Hellion turbo systems put down over 1000 hp with a stock terminator cobra running twin turbos through the stock eaton blower.

I'd have to go through a bunch of files to find it, as the video was shot and filmed over three years ago. It was well over 1150 for both from what I remember.
The surging is actually a lean condition that can easily be tuned out of the engine by adjusting the barrel. While it sounds cool, it is hard to stage a car on a starting line in this condition, and can result in a lean backfire through the supercharger if the throttle is opened too quickly.
There are people who have run dual combos like that. The greater portion of them in competition run a turbo / supercharger PLUS nitrous. Most of the turbo PLUS supercharger/blower cars I've seen have all mainly been show pieces.

@Draxindustries1 I'e yet to see any import motor put out 8000hp. You know whats funny? Toyota powers its Celica funny Car with an old school roots blower. Import engines are better? Find me one that puts out 1000 horses per cylinder.
Diesals are old school technology, even older then Otto's cycle on some accounts. So why do your import gods use them for there trucks. If they are so much better, why not make a 1.6L I3 to run everything.

@Dmac11a666 You can build up a 4 and 6 to make much more that 300hp. Built from the bottom end up using the same quality racing grade parts as this big block it's possible to make 400-600hp or better on a 4cyl and 600-1200out on a 6. It's all about what class you want ot race in and what type of motor you're going to run and for how long.
But in the end...gotta love the roar of a V8. Just no substitute for it. :)

In all honesty, this video was done over three years ago. I'd be lying if I told you I could remember exact figures.
Usually an injected BBC that's blown and on alcohol won't struggle getting past 1100HP.

yea ya can but its fukn hard, a cover car for street machine years ago was a LJ 2 door toranan (i think not the greatest at torana models) it was twin turbo'd 6/71, but the turbo's blow inot the supercharger, thats the way they worked it. but yea it CAN be done its FUKN HARD ;)

You can put a turbo system on top of a blower. I have seen it done on a few cars, it's called compounding boost. Hellion turbo systems put down over 1000 hp with a stock terminator cobra running twin turbos through the stock eaton blower.

The surging is actually a lean condition that can easily be tuned out of the engine by adjusting the barrel. While it sounds cool, it is hard to stage a car on a starting line in this condition, and can result in a lean backfire through the supercharger if the throttle is opened too quickly.

There are people who have run dual combos like that. The greater portion of them in competition run a turbo / supercharger PLUS nitrous. Most of the turbo PLUS supercharger/blower cars I've seen have all mainly been show pieces.

I get what you are saying, but the distinction is really not a big deal. What does Harley Davidson sell? Buy a quart of oil, what does it say on the front. Both use the term motor for what is clearly an engine. Both pretty much generic terms anymore.
