This song is such a precious gem. It is an incredible confirmation of Inner Knowing. It has been and still is a great support for me. I keep on sending it to people that I know can understand, and they feel the same way. thanks.

@everheart66 Thanks everheart. It's good to know there are people out there that have to ability to understand the lyrics and appreciate the clever use of words by a superb poet and wordsmith :)
The lyrics are actually written by Lenard Cohen and I believe you are the first person I've ever come across that doesn't have the ability to understand them.. I have a feeling though that this may not be Lenard Cohen's problem. Sorry you two are the odd ones out that didn't enjoy it. I'm sure you will find more simpler things on You Tube to enjoy :))

this song is TERRIBLE. Her voice is that of an ass and the lyrics make NO sence. What a tremendous waste of 4:52 minutes of my life. I'm at a loss of words for this waste of time. I'm a stregone, and my friend right beside me is into Gypsy folklore, and we decided that we hate this ignorance.
@italia4vita I was going to delete this, but, on second thoughts I'll leave it up so that everyone can see exactly what a foul mouthed nasty person you truly are. Your words speak for themselves and do you absolutely no favour.
The First Time I heard this song, I cried. I knew. Leonard Cohen, and Buffy St. Marie. Thank You Both, and Thank You Canopus Archives. Magic Is Alive. God Is Alive. We Are Part of G-d. Magic Is Afoot. Alive is Afoot. G-d is Alive. Thank You G-d. Thank you!
Thank you elementalist. Sounds as if you had the same reaction that I did when I first heard God Is Alive at the Isle of White festival back in 68 or 69 :)
Considering almost all your videos are related to pain and being kicked in the nuts I would have thought that term would have been more appropriate to you :))
I heard this song almost 30 years ago, knowing that Buffy was destined to be a prophet of "oldest religions." "Alters built in parliaments," the way she sings it. Leonard Cohen has a great interpreter of his wonderful poem. Buffy is a bonafide Goddess of the universe.
i heard this song by buffy when i was about 6, it was also the first time i heard something of leonard cohens work,,,loved both ever since, thanx for posting
Thanks for your comment. I first heard it at the Isle of White festival that Bob Dylan sung at back in the 60s where it was sort of used as the festival anthem.
I am glad that it prompted someone to buy the album. Makes me feel I've helped give instead of just taken :)) Yes, there are many amazing songs on it. I came across it many years ago and am glad I have it again.
i hear the voices of your grandmothers........
