Hey great job Ged! That religious medallion looks interesting for sure. I am looking in the comments now hoping someone has figured out what it is. These types of things can keep you up all night you know! Well, keep striving for the unified Theory and soon we will get there! Nice medal Ged ! but havent you found one (or simular) of this before ? You must keep us updated on news about it? This is what metal detecting is all about find and search the history of your find. And finaly SILVER :-) I have ordered a wake up call for you, that will have you out in that field early tomorrow before the snow arrives. no problem ... it is going to snow for days on end says the weather forcast ... but I be a crazy old "person" sometimes ... LOL ... the only thing that would put me off is the thought of sliding A over T down a snow covered hillside ... I don't bounce very well these days ... ouch

Thanks for info ... now it is drying out it seems easier to read ... I think it says PENTECOSTAL confirming it is New Church 1788

There is another date ???6 at the bottom of the medal suggesting it may be commemorating 100 years from 1786 ... in 1886 ... had similar before ...

Ged...get some play doh and make an impression of the religious medal so we may be able to make out some more detail. That is one terrific find! Congrats on the silver too.....just when we think we know what we are doing...things like this happen. :D

I think it has something to do with the New Church ...which came into existance around 1788...ish ... The present Church in Braithwaite is the New Church ... play doh good idea but this item is one of those pewter crap metal efforts that is flakey as heck and would probably disintergate if I tried it ... I did all round the Church grounds and found nothing of interest ... might just pop around and give them this medallion ...
