This is the closest we will come to getting classic Zepp back. Although Steven Tyler as Front Man would be cool if they went back to their blues rock roots.
Jason sounds great but. What I always really liked in John Bonham's drumming is the enormous laid back groove regardless of the tempo. And I sort miss that here a bit...then again... I appreciate how difficult it must be having to live up to and always being compared to your famous dad...
WTF do you expect from the guys, they were apart longer than they were a band together,Jimmy Page is now 70 or 71,lets see anyone else play like these guys at this stage of their game,Page is a miracle on 2 legs with the 2000.00$ a day heroin habit for over 20 years and still is one of the original richest musicians of all time(#3)this was about 5 years ago,so they did something rite,Robert still tours with a new album and JPJ has a new band with guys 1/2 his age,not to bad for senior citizens !
Jason is his own drummer but I still fell like he should be better(at least learn his daddy's lines better)as yes I can do better and have been playing a few years less than Jason, for not wanting to live in his father shadows he leaves himself open to criticism with these shows and sub-par playing
@Cincinnatus1869 Sorry bro,We all are'nt as cool as you,Jason Bonham said it himself"I drank more than I practiced, and I tried to follow my fathers footsteps to the pub insted of the woodshed to practice"(woodshed:to practice ones musical instrument).). He is now much better but I have seen him live right from backstage then and now and there is a huge diff.I am a drum tech and bass tech for a band that was touring with his band so I do have a little insight for my opinion. gimme a break
@cottonfever1221 No , you sure aren't as cool as me chump. . There are people with alot more clout than any 'drum tech ' for a band that call Jason and offer him good gigs . Your opinion doesnt mean shit to me , it carries no more weight than any kids who is hearing rock music for the first time , or anyone elses . His playing is highly regarded by people who actually play in real , established bands . The only thing that puts Jason in his fathers shadow is idiots like you talking shit .
@cottonfever1221 It's OK,thats why people like you make people like me look and sound all that much better, and if for one second think that Jason Bonham(he has gotten better since getting sober, his words not mine)sounds good at THIS point of his playing you are either fucking retarded or a piss poor musician and at this point in time I think its a bit of both, have a good day wanna be rock and roller. BTW: WHAT I FORGOT HOW TO PLAY IS MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER LEARN,take a seat Bozo!
I guess singing lower pitches in a given tune is a crime in rock music...yep...it is a different place and a different time...yet there is no mistake that is Robert Plant singing HIS muiscal style he invented...this is a lot more than any of you hacks will ever do on your best day...
All you idiots! who say Robert can't sing! retards!! it's impossible to have the same voice!..& THE LAST THING you care about is how it sounds! i think if u ever saw Led Zepp live you can have a peaceful death!!
@ane34343 IF Zeppelin feat.Jason toured and just chose the right set list , Plant could still school every rock singr at 62 or whatever he is now .all the real Zep fans would be more than happy to see a Zep show covering songs from the second half of the bands career.Houses, PG ,Presence ,etc.I personally would rather hear them do that than to drag out the old radio standards. You know what I mean ?
i was just about to write a comment about how "unzeppelinlike" this is, but then i watched the video for a couple of seconds, and realised that both jimmy and robert are moving and acting the exactly same way they din 40 years ago! I mean, roberts voice is actually kinda crappy after years of high pitches together with drugs and alkohol, and neither john bonham or jones is there (jason bonham did a great job however), but you can still se the best band ever somewere with them...
@ubernerd35 I disagree. He may not be the same as he was when he was young, but he is still an incredible artist and has recently produced some amazing stuff. He is timeless. This video is not a good example.

Maybe he could have, but sadly, now we'll never know how Freddy Mercury would have sounded at Plant's age. We definitely lost a great talent when Freddy passed away.
I think you need to consider Jon Anderson of Yes! In recent years he sounds just as good as he did 40 years ago...and he had to sing MUCH higher vocal parts than Robert Plant.
WOW! Thanks for that heads up brother. As a huge YES fan I can't believe that didn't even cross my mind. And with both vocalists, I think it is the tone of the voice just as much as the pitch which makes/made their work unique and so damned enjoyable. I am going to go listen to Fragile right now! I honestly haven't heard Anderson's work lately, could you recommend some I might want to check out?
@FrancoissDillingerr definately not a lady my friend i think your deceiving yourself. i love mccartney like anybody else but just listen to Oh Darling which is one of the highest songs mccartney sings and he is strainign for those notes with that raw type of gusto that made it awesome. Plant, on the other hand, hit those soprano notes so effortlessly and powerfully people were criticizing him for sounding like a soprano lady singer. nobdoy can bet plant

He might have played SOME of the triplets, but he cheated with his snare for some bass drum grace notes by playing some syncopation.
