before anyone else tries to link this to religion,this whole album The Black Halo and Epica are linked by a story,of Mephisto wanting to come back in heaven enters a bet with God,he has to take the soul of Gods faborite man,Ariel a young alchemist searching for the ultimate truth who has been doubting God for not giving him the answers he wants,there is a lot more to say about this but i wont spam,just go to wiki and check the "Kamelot-Epica" page
the best thing about music is it can be interpreted in many different ways. keep that in mind when ya start talking about religion and music. i mean ya might see it that way but music is about where your soul takes ya!! and that's that!!
Mephisto is the archangel who most loved God. Thus, when God ordered all the angels to bow before mankind, Mephisto refused, proclaiming that his loyalty was to God alone. For this, he was cast out of Heaven. He appears in many different shapes and guises, and is never quite what you'd expect—rational and sophisticated, yet tricky and deceptive. He desperately yearns to be with God again—and it is this yearning that sets the events of Epica into motion.
There are alot of people, underground people who stands for burning of churche in Norway. Not the most diplomatic way but I understand them. Christianity stole our past culture away from us, the Norse culture. So tell me whos the thief, christians? God, Nazis, Jews. I would gladly make them pay! They are just in the way of us wanting to be left alone without shit forced down upon us by birth! Religion should never be a government power! Yeah blame me for my honesty, at least Im not a hypocrite.
People do things in the name of religion, that doesn't mean that religion is bad. Religions preach mercy and understanding, it's intolerant people that destroy other cultures or peoples.
look ppl listen k? music has nothin to do with religion music is music it brings together everyone if theyn like the same music im very christian actually and i love this song along with gospel and bluegrass i love bout everything so quit trying to bring religion into music
There bands like Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, Behemoth, BURZUM (not exactly band) & etc., who all are against the religions. For example, Varg Vikernes worship the pagan gods and stuff. He even burn churches for the fun. Yeah, it's not proven that he burn the churches, but still. So, not all bands "love religion and christianity".
I don't like the religions too.. They all sucks..
@benjc4 you are right...to add to your comment this song is part of a 2 part concept album(s) in which the main character is seduced by the promise of power of Mephisto(aka satan) in the end the main character realizes that love is all he ever really wanted even though he ended up sacrificing the live of the person he loved!!! ( ariel).
Yeah. Dimmu Borgir are a bunch of pretentious Satanist pricks. They're all dwarfed by Roy Khan's genius anyways. They're certianly now why I like this video or song. lol
Yeah, Dimmu Borgir's a bunch of pretentious Satanist pricks; all dwarfed by Roy Khan's genius. It's pretty safe to say that they're NOT the reason why this song is so awesome. XD
It'd be easier to look it up. The story is explained on Wikipedia, but it's spread out over two albums;
Epica
The Black Halo
Over these two albums, through each song, a chapter is explained in the story.. You wont understand until you start to look it up, but it's quite interesting to see how they wove it all together.
I SPEAKETH THE TRUTH!

If I watched the video without knowing the concept of the album already, it's safe to say I'd be really freaked out.
