Actually, some people who worked at Kennedy have listed A Pup Named Scooby-Doo on their resumes, so I think that some of the animation on the show was farmed out to Kennedy too (possibly seasons 2-3, after Ruegger left? H-B farmed some other work out to Kennedy in '90, including Don Coyote, Monster Tails, Fender Bender, Midnight Patrol, Pirates of Dark Water...)
@TServo2049 I believe the people you mentioned were wither over at H-B or at Wang/Fil-Cartoons. "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo" never actually used Kennedy Cartoons, though Glen Kennedy was the animation supervisor in the first season at Wang/Cuckoo's Nest. The other shows you mentioned were actually animated by Wang or Fil-Cartoons, but Glen Kennedy was sometimes animation supervisor on them
@wileyk209zback Actually, Kennedy *did* work on those shows. Some of it was done at Fil-Cartoons, yes, but some work was done at Kennedy Cartoons. Notice the "Animation Coordinator: Alan Kennedy" credit on Don Coyote and on Potsworth. (Harold Duckett listed all those shows on his resume - Alex Greychuck, who did work for Kennedy but never got credited, also lists them on his resume, specifically as being for Kennedy Cartoons.)
H-B subcontracted lots of work with only passing (or no) credit.
@TServo2049 Hmm, I wonder if the "Were-Doo of Doo Manor" episode of "A Pup Named Scooby-Doo" had Kennedy Cartoons involved with the animation? I didn't see any of Glen's animation, but it looked pretty subpar compared to the other later episodes! It was either them, or just Fil-Cartoons doing a lousy job.
By far your best Youtube poop, I loved how you pointed out all of the oddities of Kennedy Cartoons.
I particularly love the bits were you point out how much Kennedy either reused their animation or just have the same movement only with different characters.
I also love the bit at 3:05 where plucky is holding a million sticks in his hand. Later in the actual episode even though only 4 characters pick one stick there is suddenly only two left, that's just lazy animating.
They barely even followed model sheets for the characters, constantly changing their construction, which would make them look completely stupid, and pigeon toed bastards, especially when they danced. They would add eyebrows on every frame they possibly had the chance (and Hamptons a good example). They would even add the same "o" mouth when a character would stare stupidly at something. They would do this all through the cartoons they had directed.
I swear, I remember watching these Kennedy Cartoons when I was younger. I always hated them, even when I was a small child! If I knew that the animation was terrible for the Kennedy Cartoons, I'm sure other kids made the same assumption. I'm glad The Tiny Toons directors got rid of the contract on them. They were awful animators, and made everything stretch and squash, which looked completely god awful.
Actually, considering that MY first "Tiny Toons" YTP was based on "The Looney Beginning" (in fact, I think it was also the first "Tiny Toons"-centric YTP, period), I pretty much beat you to Pooping a Kennedy-animated episode. This one is still good, though.
haha I love it!

Kennedy gets WAAAAAAAAAY more hate than it deserves. Sure, its looks were somewhat off model, but they were always so great and energetic!

Thankfully they never animated for Animaniacs.
Johnffrey87 1 year ago 5
@Johnffrey87 Right. That is because WB fired Kennedy after the first season of Tiny Toons, then they went to work for Disney for several years.

This is probably the best YouTube Poop I've ever seen. I always thought Kennedy's animation was always awkward looking.

@Sneep29
I didn't really like the animation either... too much squashy, stretchy, bouncy, and weirdness... but I guess, that's what made it Tiny Toons...?

I never saw what was so bad about Glen Kennedy's animation style...
