  • WOW WOW WOW!!! She was such a talent & spirit of play!!! I can totally seeing Kirstie Alley playing her for what that's worth.

  • @michaelgenung1 , Kirstie Alley playing Lucille Ball??? I'm sure you meant that as a joke.

  • OMG!!!! i needed to laugh and smile and this was absolutely perfect!!!!! being that she was a perfectionist, i am sure that we worked very hard to learn those moves and she actually danced with the group quite beautifully!!!!!!

  • Omg!!! I laughed so hard! Fabulous BRAVO!!!

  • song name please

  • @chololatino, it's Zorba's dance. Per Wikipedia, it's a song by Mikis Theodorakis, based on two traditional Cretan songs, "Armenohorianos Syrtos" and "Kritiko syrtaki" by Giorgis Koutsourelis .The song appeared in the film Zorba the Greek, for which Theodorakis wrote the soundtrack. It's now commonly played and danced to in Greek tavernas in Greece & worldwide. It's also known as "Syrtaki" which is a version of the traditional Greek hasapiko ("butcher's") dance, choreographed by Giorgos Provias.

Never seen Lucy wear such an unflattering

  • I don't want to sound "addicted to Lucy", but think Lucille wore this dress on "What's My Line" in 1962?

There's a clip on YouTube of the WML episode, and it seems like it's the same dress, but for this episode it has been shortened?

  • Oh no, Lucy addiction! Betty Ford, please help. :) Actually, that's a really good catch. I had to go check it out myself, and I agree with you. That looks like the same dress. She often wore the same clothes more than once. A friend pointed out a scene in HERE'S LUCY where Lucy is in the attic with her kids going through their old belongs (that magic lamp episode). There's a dress hanging in the background. It's the same dress she wore in the Lucy-Desi Hour, "Lucy Goes to Sun Valley."

  • LOL....you're "addicted to Lucy" for noticing that.

    It's all good, so am I. ;o)

  • memories from old good times of childhood. Lucille Ball and other old good american series of TV! 500000000000 stars! for the sweety memories! God bless you!

  • I just have to say look at Lucille's legs! I think she about 60 years old in this show!! I sure hope I have legs that beautiful when I'm that age!!

  • Po Po Po Po pO

  • Few people do the Hasapikos. All do the Syrtos, and especially the Island syrtos.

If you want to dance a lot at any Greek event, learn syrtos as shown in this vid: /watch?v=GUKJNfpt7dY

It doesnt get better than this. especially the way the lead dancers perform it.

  • Lucy, how NICE! Like they say in Greek "How you make your life is the way you will live it". Oh-pohs-drohsees-dah-kee-mee-fees!

  • i love Lucille Ball as my nik states the obvious...lol and being of Greek heritage this is a fantastic clip!...BRAVO!

  • Apisteythhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....Amazingggggggggggg

  • This is so grand, Lucy can do anything, given the chance and those legs, WOW! Thanks for posting. Is this a scene from on of the Lucy Shows.

  • This is a scene from "Here's Lucy", which ran from 1968 to 1974. This episode must've been filmed before Lucy broke her leg "in real life" skiing in Snowmass, CO in 1972~she danced wonderfully here. Of course, she could do anything!

  • Good for you for looking up Rena Vlahopoulou! She was affected by Lucille Ball indeed, although she was involved in musicals, unlike Lucy. Vlahopoulou was also a jazz singer (very rare for a Greek artist) and had a great voice, that's why she was cast in many musicals. The scene you mention with the record that slows down and speeds up is actually based on the similar scene from I Love Lucy.

  • Thank you so much for this vid. I am a Greek living in Athens and loving Lucy, and seeing this video was just out of this world! We have a Greek comedienne called Rena Vlahopoulou (unfortunately she's gone now) who was nicknamed "the Greek Lucille Ball" due to her talent and capacity of appearing very glamorous and comic at the same time. The video kind of brought the two talented women closer together

  • Thanks for the information about Rena Vlahopoulou. As soon as I read your message, I looked for her on Youtube. It seems she did a lot of musicals? One clip I found has her trying to lip sync to a record that slows down and speeds up. It's some very funny stuff. It reminds me very much of a scene Lucille Ball did on I LOVE LUCY.

  • @dkri2 I recall watching that as a child - so funny. Thank you so much for this amazing upload.

  • hi am antony and im from crete, greece bill thnx for ur mail////I JUST LOVE DANCING!!!!!

  • haha, those guys are awesome

  • wait, was she tap dancing there for a few seconds?

  • Yassou Lucy! brava! she did very well for her first time doing a syrtaki!

  • long live greek dance uniqe and originals nothing to do wit other dances

  • This video is a reminder that Lucy was a hoofer before becoming an actress. She did was practically flawess when she is in the syrtaki line. Brava Lucy!

  • Not bad, given that her character is supposed to be doing a Greek dance for the first time. :) It's worth mentioning that, these days, a typical sitcom episode takes 4 to 6 hours to shoot. They do takes, retakes, and re-retakes of every minute of footage shot. That was not Lucy's style. She rehearsed to death to get it right the 1st time so her studio audience wouldn't have to sit through all that nonsense. No redos, no retakes. It was all done within 45 minutes to an hour.

  • Now you spoiled it for me. Sto thialo!

    Alos Kostas

  • The cast of her show would get their script at the end of the week, read it over the weekend, sit down and have their first script reading together on Monday morning, rehearse intensely from Monday to Wednesday, have a dress rehearsal Thursday, and then shoot the episode that night, usually in one take. So in episodes like this, not only did all the technical stuff have to be worked out within a few days, and Lucy and her cast learn their lines and positions, but Lucy had to learn a new dance.

  • She actually did really well. That is actually called the syrtaki, starts off slow and ends with the hasaposerviko dance. And yes, it was performed in Zorba the Greek. Very fun dance. Very nicely done!

  • Thanks for that! I've always wondered what that was called. I love watching Greek dancers, but the steps look so difficult.

  • That's our America's Lucy!!!!

  • Opa !!!! Y'assou!!!

  • What's this dance called?

  • Hasaposeviko! " The Butchers Dance" Zorba made this famous!

  • Thank you so much for sharing that! That brought me back quite a few years :) I loved Lucy in all her shows and though I was looking for some other Greek wedding dances, I found such a gem-Lucy!

  • Here's Lucy does not get any more the attention it deserves. Some of the better individual episodes that Lucille Ball ever did in her 4 series she did in Here's Lucy. True, the Here's Lucy episode quality was somewhat uneven, but when it is was good, it was great. Thanx for posting this great sequence. Lucy had a lot of stamina for a woman at the time pushing 60! And she wasn't afraid to take a chance. You go girl!

  • Very well said. I've long maintained that Here's Lucy was a mixed bag. Often the episodes were mediocre, and some were downright bad. But usually it was pleasant and had at least some great little moments. And every once in awhile, there would be an episode that was an absolute gem and laughfest that almost made up for everything else.

  • jeezeee the both of you.. give her a break, for 60 something, and smoking over three packs a day.. she kicked ass!!!! ' heres Lucy episode quality was somewhat uneven" sheesshh!!

  • You're telling us to give her a break, but what you write basically parrots what soulierinvestments and I said. Did you even read our comments?

  • Go, Lucy!

  • that was great!

i wanted to get up and dance.

    loved her dress.

  • Simply LOVED it! Brings back some great memories of my childhood.

  • What is the title of this episode?

  • It's called "Lucy's Wedding Party."

  • WOW!!! That was amazing and I absolutely adore that dress:)

  • That looked like one of the more I Love Lucy-esque sequences of The Lucy Show...sorta like a peak into the living room of Lucy Ricardo and an zany afternoon in her life, if she were still on TV in the '70s. ;)

  • Actually, it's from the third season of Here's Lucy, and it's Harry's living room. A young woman from Lucy's office building needed a place for a wedding reception, so Lucy offered Harry's place since he was going to be out of town for the weekend. The problem is Lucy didn't ask Harry's permission, nor did she anticipate that his flight would be canceled and he would be coming home to discover a wedding party going on in his house.

  • Is this from Here's Lucy?

  • Yes, it's from Here's Lucy.

  • Great clip, keep them coming!

  • Lucy is so great! Even at that age she's still dancing great!

  • That was fantastic!
