  • Legio Patria Nostra!

  • Are there any Americans in the FFL?

  • @egusmc1 Yes.

  • @egusmc1 Certainly there are, but finding out just how many might take some effort. IIRC one could enlist under a different name (or nationality) and ID documents are not required.

By the way, isn't the Legion's song the Legionnaire by Edith Piaf? For some reason it's the one that I associated with the FFL more than any other.

  • Honour and Fidelity!

  • Thank you Amazon Art Collector. You are one of a very few men to admit they were in that chaos. On re-supply - it was said that when we dropped food, ammo, chars legeres, or whatever it helped the artillery men. Seemed to us they could hit us fairly easily! Why fight for another country? We believed in trying to keep the hordes of little yellow men back in their own hell. We were all betrayed, like those poor devils in Vietnam.

  • well the Legion proves 1 thing u can fit a square head in a round kepi'

  • @MrWileyk Bologna

  • @MrWileyk Blood pudding, or blood sausage. Term for the red blanket, rolled up on top of the gear.

  • @MrWileyk It's because Belgians were prohibied from joining for quite a while.

  • fucking tossers

  • F2 jkt!!

  • Had you been a soldier in the Waffen SS you would know why the Legion called. The Merkel still hates patriotic Germans just to prove the point. Remember 80% of the real Legion died in Cambodia destroyed by Generals who still thought they were fighting WW1. How can you re-supply an overrun position? We could not. Alors, j'avais un camarade.

  • @Wordsmith37 The Legion met its end at Dien Bien Phu when they were ordered to defend the lowlands while the North Vietnamese rained death on them from above with artillery. Had the U.S. supported France with our air and naval forces, there would have been no Vietnam war. By the time the U.S. entered the fracas, it was too late as our tactics were all wrong. I know, I was there from 1965-67 with the U.S. Marine Recons.

  • @AmazonArtCollector Thank you for your service, sir.

  • @AmazonArtCollector There would have been no Vietnam conflict for the U.S, If France had kept their promise of independence to the Vietnamese in helping fight the Japanese during WW2, instead of attempting to hold onto their colonies. incidently, we got mired down in Korea.

  • so I got a french man of war in Times Square one night in nyc. I was a french man at all. I was one when I came back.

  • I do not understand why the hell anyone would go fight for a different country, other than the one they are living in, or in my case a Commonwealth Country.

  • @jdriskill3 WHAT ? How dare you sir.

  • @Thisbloodypave I saw a Brit combat show on PBS that said that the Legion and the USMC were the only two elite fighting forces in the world.

  • @jdriskill3 Well I have to disagree, sorry, even though i do agree they are top lads.

  • tiens voila le Boudin...MORE MAJORUM...Aos Portugueses gloriosos que estiveram na Legião, um saudoso abraço. La Legion marche vers le front. 2éme REP. MsalloSimao

  • We Brits & our Prussian cousins have always given the Legion its backbone & best fighting spirit.

  • @freeman8128 actually the germans did

  • The picture is of members of the 1ere Section - 2 REI during the Gulf War 1991 (Operation Daguet) doing a parade for the King of Egypt (Amongst others) . The guys in the front rank have less than 1 year service in the Legion. The same Regiment took an airfield called Al Salmein only weeks later. "Ceux qui tuet pour plaisir sont les pschopaths, ceux qui tuet pour monnai sont les mercenaires et ceux qui tuet pour tous les deux sont les Legionnaires"

  • @ColGadarby Well, the Legion has always been romanticized by others, even though it has never sought to romanticize itself :-)

  • @ColGadarby

That would mean the Legionnaires kill for fun. I have the chance to know one former Legionnaire, who fought in Indochina, and another, about my age, who made two operationnal tours in Afghanistan. Both have killed in combat, but none did it out of sheer pleasure.

"Ceux qui tuet pour plaisir sont les pschopaths, ceux qui tuet pour monnai sont les mercenaires et ceux qui tuet pour tous les deux sont les Legionnaires"

So whether this is sarcasm, whether it is completely false.

    Cheers

  • Sir(s): The French Foreign Legion (FRE.: La Legion l'Etrangere l'Francais) is Good. Awesome! What I am Beholoding is Awesome! Further, I can relate to good performance after I have become the "White Boy" excuse or version of designated "Enemy of the State" film with Will SMITH as the main character. The only question is "Which State of the United States of America?" Who cares? For it all is so racial and a petite civil war requiring almost the Unabridged Civil War Atlas for orienteer by. Merci.

  • @torstvillinger Est-ce que quelqu'un sait ce que torstvillinger veut dire? What the hell are you talking about?

  • @torstvillinger eh! what does this mean. is it a secret code? what has will smith got to do with the elite. nothing.

  • brilliant! ecosse - la france the auld alliance.
