My press has never primed consistantly. Flattened primers. Primers not set deep enough. No primer. I end up checking them all which defeates the purpose of a progressive press. Now what i do is hand prime the whole batch. I deprime first. remove the primer pusher and the decapper pin on the press, fill the case feeder with the primed cases and run the press. Never had a problem since.
