Would you recommend the we openbolt M4 or the g&p m4a1 challenge kit? I prefer to run gas guns so I'm looking into a m4 and since you run alot or gas guns also I would love to hear you opinion on these and any other GBB you might recomend
@Ender007 I actually can't seem to find it on their site, can you tell me the price of it? I might wana buy one and add a MagPul MOE handgaurd and PTS stock. No need to worry about batteries. And I'm assuming the magazines are real-cap only, right?
i dont know much about gbb rifles, so can you tell me what the differences are between open bolt and closed bolt systems, and can you tell me the advantages of it? thanks
@TheLoafs123 Closed bolt was the old WE system found on their first M4s. They had a brass tube that was visible when you pulled back the bolt. The open bolt system doesn't have this anymore, making it look more realistic. There's probably other advantages but I never owned a closed bolt WE M4 so I can't say. I'll be talking with a friend who has one.
@shadsquatch1 Are you thinking of real steel "open bolt" where the bolt is back when in battery or airsoft "open bolt" when the chamber is clear with no brass tube and the bolt is closed when in battery?
@TheLoafs123 Closed bolt used a bolt made out of better materials. Shitty hop up but generally speaking fairly solid gun. The new open bolts use a TM style hop up meaning you get way better range and accuracy but the downside is the bolt is made of pot metal. You end up with your steel trigger parts wearing away at the bolt. Both have various fixes, both can be fixed for fairly cheap. I have one of each BUT to be 100% honest you're gonna have to replace something regardless of open or closed.
I've just received mine from Airsoft Panda, a Hong Kong retailer, I asked them to cover the trades with tape and the orange tip, it went through US Customs smoothly. the new open bolt system is pure win. The OB guns have little less FPS than the AWSS CB models, but the new Tokyo Marui derived hopUP works so great that you have now better range than the old system. The asian market version of the M4A1 with 360mm inner barrel can do ~450FPS according to Ra-techs videos.

How is it holding up so far? Any problems?
AirsoftCalifornia 5 months ago
@AirsoftCalifornia So far so good. Just leaky mags. Stupid old version mag design, so hard to fix compared to the WE G39 and WE M14 mags.

@Ender007 The open bolt on a real gun helps for cooling, but the advantage i see for airsoft is a lower fps.
