  • The mansion set was really awesome. Look at the shot of Krystle atop the stairs at 4:56.

  • 5.04 Beautiful. Beautiful.

    Another beautiful Krystle scene.

  • Alexis' lipstick appears to be a different color from 10:25 on... or maybe there was an unexpected lighting change...

Lol @ the dramatic pan out and wide angle shot of Alexis' reaction to Adam's murderous inclinations towards Jeff.

  • Whoa! What a powerhouse of an episode.

I can see why the show started to climb in the ratings.

This season raised the bar for drama.

  • Jeff was just about the only character that Alexis never put in his place. I wish she hadn't allowed him to talk to her so insolently.

  • @ualaw77 I, on the contrary, loved that scene. It was fun seeing the goody-two-shoes Jeff being a complete jerk and telling everyone what he may have secretly been thinking about them, but would never have said it otherwise. Alexis is so shocked by that, that she's out of her usual element. And that's a more realistic portrayal of Alexis than the more plastic version we got in latter years.

  • Yup. I loved it in Season 1 when he gave everyone a dressing down, too. Jeff is best when he realizes what a puppet he's been and decides to let everyone HAVE it.

  • @LBColby Agree completely.

  • yes, for some reason she never went to battle with jeff.

  • But, my God, wasn't Adam just so, so *evil*...what a psycho...The writers sure knew how to twist a character's personality around!

  • well, look at who his parents were. neither were exactly saints.

  • Come to think of it, Blake is always making Alexis out to be a whore and a "tramp" (his favorite word for her). But, in reality, it was Blake who was a power-mad, money-hungry, patrician hound who, in the early days, was also incredible sexist and homophobic. He blackmailed Alexis to leave her kids. Then Alexis hid Amanda from him for years. Blake's long work hours and coldness made Alexis search for D@ICK elsewhere; then she was criticized for filling her loins with anything cylindrical.

  • you are correct...Blake always played so saintly but lets not forget in S.1 he was very disrepectful to Krystal and what Saint rapes his wife.

  • Indeed, hardrein101...Then, towards the end of the saga, Krystal actually ends up leaving Blake (and leaving the series too). Yes! Blake raped his own wife, forcing his patrician, money-mad self into her endlessly virginal, hyper-blond body! The horror!

  • Noted..she said on LKL she and Blake had it written in their contracts that they would never cheat on each other...off set..John and Krystal were actually very good friends...John will often tell in intervies how despondent he became after linda/krystal left the show.

  • I actually wish that Blake and Krystal had had affairs! It would have made their rapport more interesting. It was just too saccharin and cloying all the time, and Krystal was always so beholden to Blake, even to the point of cowering before him. "Oh Blake!" was the main line that passed between these two saps!

  • one of the things that made the show so popular was the undying love that Blake and Krystal supposedly shared for each other i liked it because it is so rare in the soap world. had jason and Sale shared this passion...maybe the Colby's would have lasted. moreover, it was interesting to hear Joan Collins state that she refused to go guest on the Colby's because she never approved of the show and believes it was what contributed to the demise of Dynasty.

  • Ah, but it was the ridiculous Alien Abduction plot with the British born-again Fallon that made the Colbys so horribly wrong. We differ on the presentation of Blake and Krystal. While I don't wish infidelity on their fictional marriage, I did wish that her submissiveness and annoyingly palid expression would cease. The relationship was terribly predictable--no excitement.

My deepest fantasy: a torid, Sapphic affair between Alexis and Krystal--bushwacking through Denver! Terrific!

  • the colby's was dead b4 that stupid storyline as it aired as the final episode of seadon 2..by then the show was already done...it suffered from horrible plots poor writing and i think charlton heston was totally miscast....Sable was the best thing about the show....I still say blake and Krystals love was refrshing for Dynasty.

  • Oh contraire! The most refreshing part of Dynasty were the plots involving Alexis. That's when the series REALLY popped.

I say we take this disagreement into the streets and have a hug-fight! My hugs are better than yours!

But, seriously, while they failed to use her considerable "bitch virtuosity," and they made her mentally deranged, it was Barbara Stanwyck as Constance that really made the Colbys for me.

But you're right. Stephanie Beacham as Sable was fire-hot!

  • so agreed miss.Barbara Stanwyck was great in the show but she left after S.1

  • As far as I'm concerned (and who cares, really, about me...hehe), there was truly only one season of The Colbys. After that, the only good Colby is LBColby, the amazing editor who brings us these intoxicating 10 minute excursions down memory lane/pain!

  • totally agree, i love watching her mini series.

  • His. *snickers at ol' cousin dear*

  • LOL no no no, Peacechild. My hugs are better than yooouurs. I could teach you -- but I'd have to charge!

Barbara Stanwyck was good as Connie.. I really and truly hated the character's guts. She ruined that whole family. The worst is a bitch who looks like an angel to everyone. Only Sable could see through to the real Connie.

Oh, Stephanie was incroyable at ALL times. Sable Colby was an exciting and flawless character portrayal!

  • If The Colby's had aired in a two hour block with Dynasty, rather than on an overkill second night of the week, the franchise probably would have outlasted the 80's.

  • The Colby's, poor writing? Horrible plots? You must be crazy. The writing was very good and steered forward superbly by the actors chosen. As far as the plots, how can you say they were horrible when they were basically just the Dynasty ones reinvented? Hush.

  • classic xample how two people can look at a the same painting and c a different canvas. we can a agree to disagree.

  • lol Indeed.

  • What the hell is wrong with Jeff; is he high on the poison paint or is he had a few drinks.

  • Her face a welter of shock, Alexis gasped:

    "My God, you're killing him!"

    But Adam was sanguine, pouting:

"Mother, do I look like a murderer?!"

But soon Adam was blackmailing her, barely concealing the excitement and longing within him. After all, Adam was just like his mother, bonded in murder, locked in lust.

"Oedipus!" screamed, Alexis, trembling with desire.

"Jocasta!" bellowed Adam, his tight jeans twisting into a knot.

And they fell passionately into each others arms.

  • your good..i think u missed ur calling.

  • Thanks, hon'!
