Betty since writing my first post, I have made this recipe like you do several times! It's SO GREAT!! Thank-You! PS, only thing I leave out is carrots since I don't like carrots!
That looks delicious! I'm a huge fan of potatoes so I will definitely make this sometime. Actually, all of your recipes look good. I'm glad I found your channel. I'm definitely going to try some of those. * subscribes*
@cooldud920 Thanks for your sweet comment! I am glad that you are interested in cooking and that my channel has been helpful to you! Keep up the good work!
Hi I am from India & I love to cook & try out new recipes I really liked ur recipe I would like to know though can i use a normal butter instead of butter & is that really skimmed milk?I have never come across a soup recipe that has milk in it & when can i add cheese if I want to add some?
@norules4neha Yes, you can use normal butter, and you can add cheese along with the milk. I used skim milk to keep the calories down, but you may use regular milk, if you prefer.
Adding cheese would be great! In fact, I have a broccoli, potato, and Cheddar cheese soup posted on bettyskitchen! Thanks for the great tip for everyone!
I actually made your broccoli potato cheese soup, and it was AMAZING, cant wait to try out the potato soup, your recipes are always the best. I look forward to watching your videos everyday
It is getting cold out and I was looking for a potato soup recipe/demonstration on youtube (since I've never made it before) and I wanted to tell you yours was my favorite. I liked it because it wasn't complicated and you were very patient and took your time explaining each step. Thanks!! I can't wait to make it tonight!!
This is definately another one of your recipes for me to try, but I was just wondering, the milk you adding to the pan, was it heated first? If not, wouldn't adding cold milk to the mix result in luke-warm soup?
I did not heat the milk first. Usually, there is a lot of potato mixture, and it is very hot, so the amount of milk added doesn't significantly cool the soup. It's a very palatable temperature. However, if you want it as hot as possible, you may heat the milk (only to almost boiling) or you can heat the finished soup (only to almost boiling). Do not boil the completed soup. Thanks for your insightful comment, and thanks for watching faithfully! I like your ideas!!!
Well, I gave this a whirl today and to my surprise it was actually quite nice (yes, I had doubts). I didn't add onion to the mix but added peas instead (I love peas!!) and when it was ready it was quite nice.
Thanks, Betty.
Just wondering, could this recipe be altered to create Pea Soup or do you have a recipe for Pea Soup?
I am so sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you! Actually, I didn't see this comment until this evening. I think the pea substitution is a great idea. I don't specifically have a recipe for Pea Soup, but that's a project I would like to work on! Thanks so much for your faithful attention, and again my apologies for not getting you an answer sooner! :o( I will try to do better in the future!
you're actually pretty cute, can i come cook with you??

Hi Betty, Since you don't add pepper, can I substitute "white pepper" in it's place? Thx.
