Ahhh you used a light to make the different levels of the paper glow at different shades of green. It is not the paper which changed, but the light which is reflecting from it :) fun trick.

@Kyocus Yeah, no, the light is the same throughout. The difference is that there is a gradient going between the rows of diamonds, which are the same color. Your eyes do not see in absolutes, but help you recognize colors based on the colors that are around them. The gradient fools your eyes into thinking that the green is darker or lighter, but if you try looking at the entire image and try to completely ignore the gradient, you can see that the rows of diamonds are the exact same green.

Very cool! I just copied this image onto Photoshop.

They are virtually the same hue (RGB difference of 74-133-88 to 78-139-95).

I also created a layer of one of the greens and moved it across the image as in this video and it too "changed color".

I then proceeded to remove the gradient light to dark green sections of these "cubes", leaving only the two different greens...

They are virtually the same green.

Its the gradient part of this image that tricks our eyes. Pretty cool.

@Viruspirate No, I believe it actually has to do with the perception of the human eye, as suggested by the diamonds around and the shades of the cube, the diamond seem to change colors. The human eye perceive things and a lot of time tries to find patterns, thus optical illusions.

This IS a real phenomenon, its one of the first things I learned in 2D design. But the only way to show the demo without room for contention would be using something like pantone colors in an environment with controlled lighting.

FAKE...FAKE...Fake Having DL'ed this and played back in extremely slow motion I was able to see exactly when the color of the piece was changed (multiple times). I also used a color-picker to give me numerical readouts instead of trusting just my eyes. While the green component was fairly constant the red and blue changed considerably.
