I used to play this game back in the late 80s/early 90s. There was a 30-something year old guy who was always at the arcade playing. He worked for UPS and flat out ruled this game. 10 Yard Fight was right next to Cyberball, and this dude could easily beat my friend and me at Cyberball while simultaneously beating 10 Yard Fight on his own. At the time I thought he was awesome. Now that I'm his age, he seems so pathetic. ...and creepy.
@macallan30forme Haha. Thanks, man, I really needed the laugh. No, I'm not the guy. That cat would just crush us, though. It's odd how well I can remember stupid shit like that while far more important things slip my mind.
I think you comments are fine. I am surpised that they have not made a more "modern" version of this game. Back it the day (1987) it was quite a popular game.
Obviously these guys didn't play this game in the arcades back in the day or they'd let their quarterback get banged up a bit so you could upgrade him to titanium.
The great thing about this game in the arcade was that the machine was 2 sided, with 2 sets of controllers on each side to allow for 4 human players. It made for some intense battles! Me and my partner used to have the 2 LB defense, and crush the competition with interceptions. The LBs were strong enough to bump the WRs out the way for the easy pic. Great game!!!
I can remember just about every secret in this game. Here's one; don't try to cover a human plaing a a magnesium wideout with the safety, cb, or jumbo. You will die for sure. Even a good olb will struggle.
If it's me playing out there, you better have 2 human olb's out there. and you better pray.
New York Thunder vs. Moscow Machine is always the biggest game. It's like the Cowboys against the 49ers.
I downloaded the sample Cyberball for Xbox Live Arcade. It was the sequel, not the original, so it was better than I expected.
What sucks is that you can't play 2 on 2 on XBox Live with a partner on the same Xbox, or even with 4 different people on 4 different 360's communicating with the Xbox communicator.I'm a purist ya know.Emulate it so that it's just like the arcade, even with the occasional uncontrollable spin after the catch for the WR.Maybe release a 1 button arcade joystick as well.
I never really liked footbal one way or the other but me and my geeky friends would play this for hours in the arcade. This and Pigskin Footbrawl were a shitload of fun for the violece factor!
Adding stupid ad-lib commentary to legendary games is what we do. I think the game gods would be cool with it. Remember, they're games, don't take them too seriously.
And besides Tecmo Bowl pwns this affair. It seems that many designers believe adding robots will make a subpar sports game better. To date this has not been proven to be true. I won't say that this is a bad game, but come on, 2 teams that's it. Thanks for viewing.
1. Mutant Leauge Football did not suck.
2. They relesed a hockey game, too.

U losers don`t realize your throwing stupid ad-lib commentary on a legendary game. The game gods will give you hell for this blasphemy.

This is a subtly retuned and polished re-imagining of the dynamics of football to make it more visceral and arcade-friendly.
I worked at an arcade during college in the late 80s and this game was always a top-10 earner.
God I'm feeling old. Get off my lawn.
You're mocking one of the finest, if not the finest Atari Games product ever made, created by the guy who earlier made Paperboy and 720.
And there's 6 teams to choose from (each with custom plays), should your friend learn how to read.
