  • excellent choice of gear - keep up the good work

  • Like the music at the beginning. Catchy. Thanks for the info.

  • Could you please post a list of items so we could replicate this gear pack from amazon?

  • comment

  • Everything is fine, but if you want to prepare for some serious things ,change your knife..

  • Great video!! I'm modeling mine after this one. Nice work!!

  • hm, since I have the same suspenders laying around not doing much im thinking I'd do the same thing. Since my summer-house is less then a days walk away that would be the place i'd bug out to. so im thinking about keeping supplys out there. and a bug out LBV to get there..

  • you need more water. you need it instead of food.

  • this is a model kit! ive seen a lot of these type of videos but yours is layed out the best in my opinion for the size it is.

  • very good review. I like how you reiterated how this is for survival or bug out, not necessarily for combat. very professional presentation.

  • were did you buy the shoulder harness system?

  • I quick suggestion for the ALICE pouches. Tactical Tailor short MALICE clips can be used in place of TA-50 keepers (ALICE clips). MALICE clips are lighter and more durable than ALICE clips. They also are not going to pop open on you. I use them on my bug out bag for an ALICE canteen pouch. I combine that with an ALICE to MOLLE adapter so I can stick it on the PALS webbing on my pack.

  • love your videos man keep up the great work!

  • I know for myself, having been an NCO in the Infantry, it is hard to get out of the tactical mindset, and into just basic survival thinking.

  • I made an LBE because of this video! I hope to get the video up soon. Great videos man!

  • wow cold steel got these special forces shovels i'd look one of those up if u plan on digging trenchs

  • you could posibly modify this setup where you could add your backpack into this equipment

  • Pistol Belt and H-harness. Really comfortable if you pack it right.

Check out my videos if you have the time, I need suggestions.

  • 3 quarts water-canteens, canteen Cup, GI magnesium fire starter Wooden matches(inside 2 layers of ziplockbags) Poncho, Kabar or ontario sp1 100% wool blanket Ponch liner, Leatherman Blast Multi tool GI goretex Shell from the 3 piece sleep system. 300Ft paracord. Sharpening stone, 3 days food and Coast guard calorie bars, First aid, and Advanced bleeding dressings, LBE Ammo Rifle, Boots, 3pairs of socks, under wear, clothes Alice pack TOILET FUCKING PAPER...... Did I forget anything?
  • @HadesmyBoa569 maybe some water pruifacation tablets

    and a signaling device

  • Good kit man. I'd like to make one. Thanks for the video

  • how much did the load bearing vest cost?

  • Why no tp??

  • @enalik01 leaves durdadur

  • @enalik01 man your not as hardcore as us are ya? leaves man, use leaves.

  • Hey packrat i got to know where did you get that pack Just the pack

  • 150 miles in what how much you can travel on your feet during 3 days at the maximum in an even terrain without having to do escape and evasion, and serious land navigation. That's a classic forced march. You can push yourself and do that much a day from sunrise to sunset.

  • nic vid

  • OH my goodness! I put together a kit JUST like this (I based off of WWII/Vietnam load bearing equipment) for outdoors and survival situations! I never thought anyone ever had the same idea. Really cool, man! Awesome video.

  • you should have a lanyard on your compass

  • In 3 days you can hump 150 miles if you push yourself. It can be done, especially with lighter gear like this one, if you are fit, the weather permitting, and if you are not evading capture.

  • Where do you purchase your items? I have looked at some online and they seem a little expensive.

  • No offense guy but your gear looks like cheap crap sold buy CTD! You can NOT buy good gear from them, they sell seconds and such. I think we all we all have bought something or other from them at some point but seriously, you have to do better for a survival rig! I like your videos and this comment is nothing personal, I own a few of their things just to throw in the truck to go to the range but for bug out gear I would never trust their cheapness. Inexpensive=good cheap=bad! Cheaper than dirt!!

  • I greatly enjoyed your video for its immense depth of information and I was inspired by your practical solutions. Good reference material... Thanks for posting. God Bless USA.

  • great video PackRat556, keep up the good work

  • wow 17lbs? great system.

  • I love how little you carry. Some people showing their 3day packs are carrying multiple of the same tools and things they likely wouldn't use adding maybe half in useless weight.

  • have you looked into those Natick canteen cup stoves?

  • That Glock field knife is superlative, lightweight, and economical with a fatal flaw--it is extremely difficult to draw with one hand. Makes it a pain in the ass for field work and may cost you if you have to fight with it. That's the only offer. All is looks like it will work just fine.

I love the Glock knife and ground down the3 handle lock on the sheath trying to make it work in a BOB situation. Only succeeded in ruining the sheath.

  • hooyah! a fellow 9-12! me too! third official member actually. I am a friend of Mr. Becks. He knew my father growing up and I went to school with his daughter. oath keeper as wel?

  • While I'd never carry half the stuff you pack, that's my personal preference, I appreciate you showing people your choice items. One thing I'm noticing with these edc/bob/bug videos... They're too long or waste too much time. It really didn't require 4minutes just to get to your items... perhaps I'm part of the "I NEED IT NOW" generation, but honestly, we're back-packers, campers etc... we know what this stuff is for, just show us what you have. No hard feelings mate!

  • ( 1st time watcher )Got any reviews on 1-3 day assult / medic bags?

  • 6 mag chi com style rig would be great over this....good for fighting light.you can fit a wool blanket /poncho or a light blanket wrapped up in a poncho and put on that butt pack

  • ths is a very good idea compared to everyones 72 hour bag that can become huge, this 72 hour kit on the ibe is great!!

  • can you show us what you would use for combat

  • why 72 hours ? (3 days?)

  • 3 days is the universal recomended amount for gear. After 3 days, your situation is gorwing wors exponetialy.

  • just bought an lbe thing i have 2 canteens with belt holder 2 saw pouches and a butt pack with pistol belt and harness is these good choices

  • I FREAKING LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! you are a very good survivalist. if i had to go with anyone into the wild YOU should be anyones first choice.

  • Great Video!

Does anyone know the music details of the intro track? Please tell me, i love it! =)

  • It is a free song that comes w/ windows vista

  • where can I get this exact model?

  • Thank your for all the videos you have made you helped me get off my lazy tail and go backpacking more I love it so much and really really appreciate a kind person giving in-depth reviews it really helps. Once again thank you so much!

  • Hey PackRat556,

I just started watching your videos! Real good stuff! Curious...Do you ever carry a snake bite kit with you when you're out in the wilderness? I know where I live, there's TONS of Rattlers, Copperheads, and Cottonmouth's...Gotta be mindful of those suckers! hehe

  • great vids. my sensei just turned me to this channel by a link. great stuff. i subscribed. i make fun training vids too. take care

  • Listen guys. ANY knife can and will break if used hard enough. The bottom line is Ka Bars are good knives for the price and yes the tang extends through the handle and pommel and is pinned to the pommel.

  • @Nervjiggy i recomend sog knives mine have been great the machete can handle almost anything you try to chop the jungle primatives good to

  • @Nervjiggy It blows my mind people think kbars are weak knives. They went to the most horrific battlefields the United States has ever seen.

  • would you recommend buying a used large alice pack or paying more money for an lbe system

  • Nroc13, get both. Each can serve you in different situations

  • oh you have the same leg holster i do, it can easily fit my Colt 1911, i personaly enjoy the ALICE system youve shown because it is waterproof and any US military web pouch can go onto it, its a great systems.

  • Comment removed

  • Dont hang your poncho/rain gear on the bottom like that, unprotected..Make a cover with a BDU leg to protect it from punctures and scrapes...You wont have a surplus store of QM to go get a new one ones the hammer drops and your out and about..

  • Good video

I'm sure you're right an experienced survivalist could last with as little as a flint, knife and compass

But, it's always nice to have other tools for piece of mind and a little added comfort

the two most important things to have are a good mental attitude and be prepared, thing soften happen with only a moments notice

    peace :)

  • nope i use a gi tanto and a bowie spike. the tanto is perfect for chopping and will not brake like a kabar could (kabars do not have a full tang) and the spike is great for skinning and gutting. its a good combo for 40 bucks and i would rather carry 2 grate knifes vs one so so one for the tasks at hand. a bit unorthodox but works great in my opinion. and the weight is not an issue the spike is like 4 Oz. and the tanto isn't much more if any then a kabar or anything.

  • The Ka-Bar does have a full tang blade. I'd be happy to make a video for you if you'd like

also watch the tests performed on the D2 (model 1228) here on youtube (by knife tests [dot] com)

    watch?v=6xRdGJtEr5U

    peace :)

  • lol i watch knife tests quite a bit when im in the market for a new blade. i had seen then snap a kabar offf chopping though a 2x4. and said yo my self "im getting the gi tanto." i love that knife.. i was looking at getting a short kabar to preform utility tasks but found the cold steel bowie spike.. once again very glad with my choice. when im in the market for something i go ape shit in info. i look at everything on every product im looking at.

  • The Ka-Bar is a mass production knife and probably fine for the weekend warrior (who probably will not be splitting logs hitting theirs with a 2 x 4) :)

Custom knives are a far better choice except then, price becomes a consideration

Tops knives makes some good knives

    Ty Goo makes nice customs

There are a bunch out there (they can get pretty pricey)

    peace :)

  • Not sure why that replied to you..I was replying to SPCkeith..sorry..But still Kbar is a good knife..Ive split logs with mine many many time..No worries and functions fine..Thought my Marine Raider is more suited for splitting..The K is still a great knife..

  • Im not sure why you stated Kbar does not have a full tang but you're WRONG..My Marine Kbar has a full tang...All the way to the hammer on the butt....Ive used my Kbar for the past 13 years and it stands fast...My other knife is a Marine Raider Bowie..Another stand fast chopper..

  • becuase the people i saw break them said they where not full tang like a GI tanto.

  • I just want to thank you so much pack rat. I've wanted to see other examples of survival gear. I will change certain thing to my taste and abilities. But overall, the videos were a GREAT help.

  • wow. i just happened upon this video randomly and i have just finished neil strauss's book "emergency". Weird. Kool vid man.

  • roughly, fully loaded, about how much can an average person walk in a day? 10 miles? more, less? thanks

  • I see you also bought the Glock knife, good call.

Those knives have got to be some of the best in the world, I'd say second place. (:

  • i like my cold steel lol.

  • Nice, is it a Bushman?

  • hello everyone, where can i buy an L.B.E and the canteen with the cup and stove in it. thank you packrat very informative

  • I greatly appreciate that. I am glad that my videos have been helpful for you. I appreciate your support and interest, as it keeps me motivated to continue filming. Take Care!

  • Thats a pretty complete looking set up you have there. I have many of those same military pouches on my EDC military shoulder quick carry bag. Same quality as the "Expedition" type basic carry bags, but without the outstanding price and hype.

  • Sounds like a great system. I appreciate you watching and commenting!

  • @PackRat556 where did you get this lbe. also did it come with the rest of the bags and if not where can i get bags to go with it

  • @PackRat556 love your channel and your videos... but get a mic please

  • Hey PackRat556 love your videos I think there informative and real. Just the thing the average guy needs. Love your 72 hr Load Bearing Equ video; I think the system is fantastic. What do you think about using this LB with a cross draw system for added tactical options? Or as you stated in this video what system would you use in the event of social unrest or as u said an immediate combat type system

    God Bless

  • Hi SkillSet7,

I appreciate your kind words of support. I am in the process of filming a followup to this video to show the exact system you are asking about. I hope to post it soon. In my opinion, the cross draw is really a personal preference. If it is comfortable for you and you get good results, then I think it is fine. I have practiced with the traditional setup for so long, it is what I am comfortable with personally. again, if it works for you, use it! Thanks again for the support!

  • Song?

  • Great set-up. Thanks for some ideas for my rig.

    5/5

  • Thanks for watching! I am glad that this was helpful for you. I appreciate your interest and support as always!

  • i think the one and only thing ur missing is bug repel wipes trust m they help

  • I do usually carry bug repellent. Just happen to leave it out during filming. Thanks for catching it. Take Care.

  • I prefer the 762x51 - 308 to a necked down .22

    peace :)

  • lol

  • your pistol belt is a LC3

  • How do you know?

  • becuase it has a fastex buckle and a differnt way to ajust for girth

  • thanks

  • ok one quick question, why the money?

  • everytime i watch this video it gets better ,well done packrat ,from the old crowman 45

  • The only suggestion I would make would be to add a poncho liner to the kit. It is works as a decent makeshift blanket in warm environments.

  • Great tutorial Packrat. I would like to know how to build the LBE system itself. I am kind of lost of that. Do you have a website where I can buy those individual pouches, and buttpack?

    Thanks

  • I have an alice modular pack system like this but it is very unbalanced, someone can give me an advice?

  • get the basics, a butt pack, canteen, ammo pouches m16 pouches are the best in my opinion. on mine i have all of those plus a e-tool shovel and a small field medic pouch.

  • nice LBE i have one too

  • Great vid! I also like to see others loadouts to compare my own!

Suggestion for anyone who hates the Y suspenders. Get the shoulder pads off an LBV-88 (Enhanced load bearing vest) and attach them. Thicker pads than the H-harness and really"takes a load off"!

  • I also like to see others ideas, There are many great ideas out there to help you improve. Thanks for your interest and input!

  • I love seeing how others have thought out their gear, thanks for the vids!

  • Me too. You can learn a lot buy seeing what others are doing with their gear and adapting different ideas to fit your own personal needs. Thanks for watching!

  • im going to do this for my tornado kit. have my food and stuff on my leg instead of on the left pouch and 2 canteens plus buttpack

  • Sounds like a good solid kit too!

  • well thought out!

  • Thank you! I appreciate you watching and commenting.

  • Excellent man, I have used an LBE set up for years as a 24 hour type kit. I like the idea of having the rem oil wipes, I will have to get some of those.

  • Thanks! They are very convenient. I think these are great for in the field use. They can be used as patches too if you need to swab the bore, at least until you have better means to clean your weapon.

  • The hand sanitizer can be especially useful, with the swine flu being contracted in different areas. The best way to prevent it is hygiene. Stay safe everyone.

  • Very true indeed. Thanks for commenting!

  • Nice system ! Good Setup! You really do have alot of packs huh lol

  • Thank you! I can share a bit w/ my neighbor if needed! lol. Thanks for watching!

  • Can I be your neighbor????

  • KEEP THE VIDEOS COMING!!!!!! Yours are great! I'm watching all 3 parts. I have a pistol belt LBE set up as well, except I only have 2 M-16 pouches on it and a caneten holster. It's coming along. I normally use a backpack set up though.

  • I have a couple of these and one is set up like yours, the traditional way as the military intended it to be used. Nothing wrong with a backpack set up either, I also am a pack user. Just depends on the situation which I would prefer. Thanks for your interest and support. Take Care.

  • I have a couple of those rigs & for the money they are the best out there.

  • I agree, If you shop around, many times you can find some excellent deals out there. Most of the time that surplus gear is of the highest quality. Thanks for watching nightblade. Take care.
