need help....My cousins bought a PS3 and an HDMI cable i dont have one so they let me try it out. It was great but when they left they took the cable with them so i turned off the PS3. The next day I went to turn on the ps3 and everythinh was fine the tv turned on fine I could watch tv the ps3 was turning on fine but when I switched it to the second channel so I could play PS3 the tv didnt show anything, all the cables are fine and connected I just cant see anything on the tv from my ps3... help
@sportshobbys740 when your ps3 is off hold down the power button wait until the ps3 turns back off. this should restore the audio and visual problems.
@CommandingCommando you need to put the hdmi cable back in... go to display settings, put it back to the red yellow and white, then take the hdmi cable back out and put the red yellow and white chords back in. if that doesnt work sorry.
i found an easier way.. well it worked for me anyway.. what i did was i unplugged the hdmi cable from both sides and then waited for ten secs and swapped the ends (so the end tht was in your tv plug in your ps3) and then turned on my ps3 and my tv and it worked.. thumbs if it worked for you too so tht people can see!
i play mw3 and, during the game the screen cuts and and i can still hear everything through my headset, but i tinker with the TV (switch channels, all that stuff)
and then i decide to turn it off, the tv doesnt want to turn off or anything so the only way to turn it back on is to take out the power and then put it back in. ive tried different power ports and all..
@Chattrees i have the same exact problem. i'm playing cod and the screen just goes black, sometimes goes back on but ost of the time i have to fiddle with the plugs or change the channel. really annoying! it also happens with all my other games. if you figure out a way to fix this please help me out
I have a Sony Bravia. I have this problem where the red/white/yellow cable works on it but my HDMI wire just shows up black. I am not an idiot, i have tried every single thing and i have over 70 hours of gameplay on SKYRIM and i will not, absolutely not reset to factory settings. Don't worry guys, Nothing is wrong with neither the tv nor the ps3. On older tvs, this usually happens because the ps3 is changing resolution outputs. Older or generally cheaper tvs like vizios tend to have this problem because they have trouble with the resolution change
my other (sony)bluray player had a flicker on/off problem with hdmi to the same TV as i mentioned before but very only happen sparingly one in a while and only when watching DVDs in the machine seemingly.. but didn't occur not a once when watching a bluray in that machine but this time its any disc in this new machine/system
i have a cunt of a problem with my new 3d bluray home theater as its plugged into my LG TV and every time i play or just about, the video and audio signal from the HDMI cuts off for seconds at a time. its fucking annoying me as i spend all my savings on this motherfucking bd home theater.
Something similar happened to me. I switched tvs both hdmi, but it reset and fixed by holding the power button on the ps3 during start up until the second beep. Be sure for any future people in my boat to even do this as one of your first steps to fix this issue.

I have the same problems, in a Panasonic TC-L37x1x, however my time works ok, like an hour or so after that the screen become weird with green artifacts, it happened with ps3 AND xbox 360. ive tried different hDMI cables, one of them locks-up the tv after a few minutes making it totally unusable until i disconnect the tv from the power. The other cable works fine about an hour but suddenly i will get no sound from TV tuner and switching back to HDMI will lock up the tv. I hate Panasonic.

I took it back to my house and put it back on my hdmi tv. and the screen says no signal. I'm kinda having the same problem but it's only when I try to start a game. My system was working fine for a long time until the other day. I tried switching to a different game and then nothing happened. All I got was a blue screen with no audio or video whatsoever. I've tried disconnecting my HDMI cables and resetting my system via holding the start button for 2 seconds and still nothing. Any assistance would be great please. :/
@SebastianZorrilla The problem actually fixed itself. Seemed that the PS3 was overheating, so leaving it off a day or two should fix the problem. Make sure the back of the PS3 is well ventilated and nothing is around it so it can breathe where the fan is.
IDK if this helps, but HDMI maybe susceptible to interference. My power cords CROSSED my HDMI which prevented the TV from displaying audio and sound !!!!! The PS3/tv will detect the cord as long as they are both on/ the cord is not completely faulty ! But if a power cord overlaps the HDMI, it may interupt those signals. Keep the cords separate as best you can and try it afterwards. Mine worked, but the cords quality shows - it's faulty and loses signal constantly.

I need help I am ready to chuck my ps3 across the room. none of the outputs are working for my ps3. I tried my hdmi cable and idk if my basic cable is broken. i had this problem once easy fix you dont need to change any setting or cables (btw i have the slim dunno if it works on the phat one) heres what you do turn of your ps3 and hold the button till it bleeps take your finger of the button turn on the ps3 and hold the button till it bleeps tv should be blank for about a second or 2 but it works for me
Sony had a conference that PS3 Fat have virus in it which is unremovable so buy PS3 Slim thats clear of viruses and issues and have a strong security system............. :)

@IKEEMBLEM i do this to here what i did I plugged my ryw cables in my PS and TV i left the hd cable in the PS but not TV then switch the PS off holding button till it went bleep then i turned it on holding button till it went bleep as so as it did i unplugged the hd cable and it works every time for me
Guys i'm having a problem! I have a Phillips 42" TV and an 80G PS3. When I try to change the display settings to HD, the 30 second blank screen message comes on. It then says 'make sure your cables are turned on'? Now, here's the thing, I had a 60G PS3 (release one) but that broke, I had HD on that PS3 (same TV) but NOT on my 80G... So, If anyone has a solution to this, it'd be greatly appreciated!
@RossC1996 i have the same tv what you have to do is, on your tv remote press the home button, then go to add a device , then select game console, then go to hdmi 1,2,3 or side hdmi if you follow these steps everything should work fine. make sure you have a specific channel for your ps3
PLEASE help. I connected my PS3 slim to my friend's TV via HDMI (I usually use the Component with a SCART adapter) Now when I plug it back into my TV with the Component cables & Scart adapter, No signal. \nothing. Nothing to do with my scart selector, the cables, the adapter, or the TV. (The TV still works with my Virgin Media digital box connected via scart) No sound, no picture. And yes, the PS3 is on & the input source is right.
If screen is black when using hdmi press and hold power button it will beep twice and shut off this means ps is reseting. Now turn on ps and have fun.

i have 2 hdmi slots on my plasma one is called hdmi 1 and hdmi 2. i connected my hdmi to the hdmi slot 1 and it work perfectly but when i change the channel to the hdmi channel the screen come out in half. the right side is for the hdmi slot 2 it blank cuz i have not connected anything to it and the left side is were u see the ps3 menu.
how do i expand my slot 1 to full screen because i dnt wanna play black ops in half screen!
Ok, HDMI has been working fine for me all along, but this morning when I turned on my TV, it just wouldn't work. I'm getting nothing but a black screen now. I've made sure that the cable is firmly plugged in the TV and ps3. I've tried restarting it by holding the finger on the button for 5-6 secs to reset the screen settings or whatever. Everything works fine with SCART, but when I try to change the settings to HDMI, it stops working again.
@coolekipje I've had that exact same problem for over a year, and now 3D is out and you can only use HDMI to make it work and I can't, it sucks, but yeah you explained exactly whats wrong with mine also. it doesn't blink or anything it just doesn't do anything. I have tried on at least 10 different T.V.'s and none of them worked, I have to use the component cables to run in HD
@tipou900 you have to press and hold the power button until you hear 2 fast beeps then it should turn on, but it resets you ps3, thats the same problem i had.

... get a new hdmi cable, if it doesnt work go t settings and check everything: 480p should be already selected and grayed out, check 720p, 1080i and 1080p then make sure da video output is set to 1080p, and if it doesnt work or ur tv is shit or u dunno howto use a ps3

@sempaialexeo1111 The exact same happened to me to. The problem: your cable is crap, right on the money like you said! The female HDMI connector at the back of the PS3 is pretty loose, so try to get a male connector which has a square casing on the end. Yup, it sounds stupid, but trust me, it'll help.
I had a problem where my HTMI completely quit working. No picture or sound. I did the whole Hold Power button and got it switched back to the original set up and it worked.. i figure that my HTMI cord is just crap?
i had the same problem. except my sound went out as well. idk why it happens and Sony couldnt help me either. i would reccomend sticking to xbox. i know it gets red rings. but ps3 is veerrry glitchy. there are new updates every week. it gets rediculous

I tried switching to a different game and then nothing happened. All I got was a blue screen with no audio or video whatsoever. I've tried disconnecting my HDMI cables and resetting my system via holding the start button for 2 seconds and still nothing. Any assistance would be great please. :/

@SebastianZorrilla The problem actually fixed itself. Seemed that the PS3 was overheating, so leaving it off a day or two should fix the problem. Make sure the back of the PS3 is well ventilated and nothing is around it so it can breathe where the fan is.

IDK if this helps, but HDMI maybe susceptible to interference. My power cords CROSSED my HDMI which prevented the TV from displaying audio and sound !!!!! The PS3/tv will detect the cord as long as they are both on/ the cord is not completely faulty ! But if a power cord overlaps the HDMI, it may interupt those signals. Keep the cords separate as best you can and try it afterwards. Mine worked, but the cords quality shows - it's faulty and loses signal constantly.

I have a problem... One day after a few days of not playing my original 60GB PS3 I turned it on and just got the black screen... What makes this weirder is that the PS3 HDMI works on other HD t.v's, the HDMI cable works fine, and the T.v is about to produce an HDMI image when I plug my HD laptop into it..
As far as I can work out the PS3 works, the T.V works. the HDMI cable works. But none of them want to work together!!! VERY ANNOYNING!!! PLEASE HELP!!!???

I need help I am ready to chuck my ps3 across the room. none of the outputs are working for my ps3. I tried my hdmi cable and idk if my basic cable is broken. I heard sounds like you said with yours, and my screen does that shaking crap too. but none of the outputs work now. i had this problem once easy fix you dont need to change any setting or cables (btw i have the slim dunno if it works on the phat one) heres what you do turn of your ps3 and hold the button till it bleeps take your finger of the button turn on the ps3 and hold the button till it bleeps tv should be blank for about a second or 2 but it works for me

i have a differant issue.
I used the HDMI on a flat screen and it ran perfectly, but when i switched back to the basic colored cordson a non HD tv, nothing would appear on my screen except the current input of the tv, the cord was in the tv and system, but nothing still shows, this only happened after i used hdmi, any way to fix this?

Guys i'm having a problem! I have a Phillips 42" TV and an 80G PS3. When I try to change the display settings to HD, the 30 second blank screen message comes on. It then says 'make sure your cables are turned on'? Now, here's the thing, I had a 60G PS3 (release one) but that broke, I had HD on that PS3 (same TV) but NOT on my 80G... So, If anyone has a solution to this, it'd be greatly appreciated!

@RossC1996 i have the same tv what you have to do is, on your tv remote press the home button, then go to add a device , then select game console, then go to hdmi 1,2,3 or side hdmi if you follow these steps everything should work fine. make sure you have a specific channel for your ps3

PLEASE help. I connected my PS3 slim to my friend's TV via HDMI (I usually use the Component with a SCART adapter) Now when I plug it back into my TV with the Component cables & Scart adapter, No signal. \nothing. Nothing to do with my scart selector, the cables, the adapter, or the TV. (The TV still works with my Virgin Media digital box connected via scart) No sound, no picture. And yes, the PS3 is on & the input source is right.

If screen is black when using hdmi press and hold power button it will beep twice and shut off this means ps is reseting. Now turn on ps and have fun.

i have a slim ps3 160gb with a 42 inch plasma tv (philips)
i have 2 hdmi slots on my plasma one is called hdmi 1 and hdmi 2. i connected my hdmi to the hdmi slot 1 and it work perfectly but when i change the channel to the hdmi channel the screen come out in half. the right side is for the hdmi slot 2 it blank cuz i have not connected anything to it and the left side is were u see the ps3 menu.
how do i expand my slot 1 to full screen because i dnt wanna play black ops in half screen!

Ok, HDMI has been working fine for me all along, but this morning when I turned on my TV, it just wouldn't work. I'm getting nothing but a black screen now. I've made sure that the cable is firmly plugged in the TV and ps3. I've tried restarting it by holding the finger on the button for 5-6 secs to reset the screen settings or whatever. Everything works fine with SCART, but when I try to change the settings to HDMI, it stops working again.
Anyone had a similar problem with their ps3?

@coolekipje I've had that exact same problem for over a year, and now 3D is out and you can only use HDMI to make it work and I can't, it sucks, but yeah you explained exactly whats wrong with mine also. it doesn't blink or anything it just doesn't do anything. I have tried on at least 10 different T.V.'s and none of them worked, I have to use the component cables to run in HD

I find that its firmware issues with the bluray players which is resolved once a new firmware update has been loaded to the player.
Most of the technology now is all software!!!! SIGH It makes things smaller but needs upgrading once in while.

... get a new hdmi cable, if it doesnt work go t settings and check everything: 480p should be already selected and grayed out, check 720p, 1080i and 1080p then make sure da video output is set to 1080p, and if it doesnt work or ur tv is shit or u dunno howto use a ps3

this is how to fix that problem just like mines
1.put the hdmi cable in the tv in hdmi 1,2,3(choose)
2.input your tv in to 1,2,3(where you put yours)
3.put the other end in the ps3.
4.make sure no av cable is attach to your ps3 or tv (might not work)
5.turn your ps3 off and put the input in hdmi
6.it will says hdmi cable is gonna change then press yes

@JDCPRODUCTIONS i kind of found a solution try resetting the video output to learn find videos on youtube and then test ur ps3 on another t.v vith video not hdmi and then it might come if it dosent test it like 2 months later then if it does then turn it of and hold the pwoer botton and u should know how to restore and then it says conect usb then press ps button so do that then these stuff come up and then say restore file system and then it will restore and then switch it back to hdmi

@sempaialexeo1111 The exact same happened to me to. The problem: your cable is crap, right on the money like you said! The female HDMI connector at the back of the PS3 is pretty loose, so try to get a male connector which has a square casing on the end. Yup, it sounds stupid, but trust me, it'll help.
