Hello, WRite your own music and leave Handel ALONE! People add drums and then think it's hip. No it's just loud. YOu want something fresh, listen to Symphonic Metal. They write truly new things.
I'm sorry, but I think all you people who are criticizing this are missing the point. This is one of those "so-bad-it's-laughably-awesome" type of thing. Sit back, drink a beer, and enjoy laughing at it.
Adding new instrumentation to an old piece does not "create a new classic..." It was already a classic. That said, there's nothing wrong with new art, but it's important to understand the motivation behind this...was it to interpret an old piece in an avant-garde way in order to better reach an audience? Maybe. Either way, adding a synthesizer, drumset, and electric guitar does NOT make this like Phantom of the Opera. They are from two completely separate genres of music.
I like it and feel that as different interpretations go this is worthy in its own right. Very courageous I first heard it in 1991.. Liked it since then audio on this is not great though
@siskaholic You can go easy on them. It is always to listen to different ideas. Change is good. I am sure people who would never have listened to the original would listen to this and develop a greater appreciation for the original. I happen to be one of those. Now I can understand and appreciate the Classic.
Awful awful, awful........why oh why should anyone want to desecrate anything so beautful as this oratorio? I guess the answer lies in the fact that Young Messiah was an un-prescedented flop. No surprise there, then. ....why did they change the order of the first movements? "Comfort Ye" following "And the Glory of the LORD" - is not correct nor scriptually in order. This is utter nonsense and an embarrassment. Sorry, but I hate it.
I realize this video was created a while back. I've also seen a "gospel" version of the "Messiah". This is comparable to "colorizing" classic black and white cartoons (I know that's a stretch). Don't attempt to update Handel. Don't sugarcoat it. Play it straight. Leave it alone.
THIS IS SHAMEFUL! Play it as it was written!!! As written it is devine!!! Don't you think if Handel wanted noise and shit in his piece he would have WROTE IT IN!
Asco!!!

Qué pereza cuando destruyen una obra que ya es perfecta por si misma. :S

This is deliciously putrid. Just like Nellie Oleson in LHOTP, you love to hate it.

@longeaton34 I think Handel should come back and sue them for plagerizing and ruining his work.

Why would they desecrate something so beautiful. Classical musicians should know better.

Why remix? People don't need a reason to disregard this piece. You can't make it "timeless" by making it modern.

Yeah, this ain't gonna cut it. Dance mix Messiah...now way. Some things you just don't "refresh." Write your own, leave the classics classic.

They added a little too much, but this is still an amazing piece of music for God's glory!
