  • The beginning of this song has the same excited, psychedelic static of initial curiosity and ingestion, when the person still thinks 'Pssh, that's it? I can handle this!!'... Then, at 3:37, THAT'S when the Datura kicks in.

  • Big day today....Tori played the bridge of Datura LIVE tonight. :)

  • Moderation is the word...

  • datura is very dangerous.

it is not a drug..its an dillerium!

    you can die easely

  • @janotosinnumeros loves it!

  • @hotfukka hahah m 2

  • didn't know ms. amos liked tripping ballz on datura. interesting choice, i now have a bit more respect for her as an artist!

  • @Nobodie92 So you respect her as an artist more because you think she might have tripped?! I respect her because of what she does and because she is a professional. I don't mind drugs but to respect somebody more because of that? Nonsense!!!

  • @TheLuthien83 not a suspicion that she tripped...she said it herself. DMT/Ayahuaca. It was either the Roseanne Show or Rosie ODonnell. Cant remember which but yes she has admitted to taking a trip. But I agree...my respect comes from the talent not past lifestyle choices

  • Is that what I think Tori is doing??? 4:59? poor tree:(

  • And everywhere esle tooo:))

  • Datura grows in Mexico:)

  • Wonderful!!!!! Get out of my garden

  • i Made Datura into a Tea, Lived threw it. Obviously if im typing this and im only 14.

  • @XChristopherXPilotX 14 years old and you're tripping your ass off on Datura! Man, you're not gonna live long if you keep up that shit.

  • funny flower names

  • awesome song

  • I cant be the first to think of doing this, but if you start the 'Caught a Lite Sneeze' video at the beginning and match it up with Datura at the 3:39 mark - wow, what a trip!

  • @mermaidofsuburbia oh my...

  • @coldhardfacts "Hey kids don't do it, BTW this is how I did it." It's like the Dave Chappelle skit. That said, not for the faint of heart. Or the average of heart. Stick to mushrooms, kids.

  • @JadyLester I agree. sorry I gave out 2 much info. I'm lucky 2 still be here

  • why hasn't this song ever been remixed?!?!?!? (professionally, i mean)

  • Beautiful! I love this song! So sweet!

  • Awesome video! Thank you for making it and posting it!

  • @TheQueenMalika14 read some reviews of datura trips on erowid . com... it's some really nasty stuff. or better yet, watch the wes craven film "the serpent and the rainbow".

  • Just the song i was looking for! I especially love the end...

  • you mispelled dividing twice

  • "...I'm talking about the times when lines have been crossed by men. Men can be dangerous, like in the song Datura about how sometimes they can bring you gold and sometimes they can be the bearer of poison. The plant Datura is a hallucinogen and it's like men. If you get the right amount you'll walk into the garden and become a woman, but if too much seeps in in the wrong way and at the wrong time - it'll kill you."

  • I love this. So true too...

  • "I was in a mood that day... We were supposed to be cutting something else, and it wasn't coming together. Matt [Matt Chamberlain] was running around, but the band hadn't shown up yet -- meaning Caton [Steve Caton] and Jon [Jon Evans] hadn't come. And I just had this thing about my garden. I got a list from my gardener about everything that was in my garden that was still alive."

  • anyone know the story behind this? and where's the get of of my garden thing come from? maybe she ate some and lost her mind for 2 days. her vocals definitely sound pained and disoriented

  • I: Now apparently you have a herb garden with a list that you run off in the song Datura as well.

    T: Had.

    I: You had? What's happened?

T: You know that Hurricane Irene? (...) she kicked my butt. My gardener, I had this emergency message from my gardener, like I get this message in Berlin. "Your gardener's calling from the tropics - they say it's tragic." So I'm going to have to go down there and figure it out. But I've lost everything in the garden except the Datura.

  • Has Tori ever performed this live?

  • Thank you for making such a stunning video for one of my favourites!

  • amazing video. well done. I think this is a pretty phenomenal track

  • she's so amazing

  • "ya and shrooms suck too, i took 100 grams and rode the ninja..it fuckin sucked"....grow up ppl think more... enjoy

  • I WANT THIS SONG!!

  • Datura is not to be messed with. Believe me. It's the most potent insanity you will ever experience if you live through the trip. I boiled 12 pods and drank foolishly. Had visions for 3 days and nights of "the end of the world" while in intensive care, they had to restrain my arms and legs. Tied up for 3 days in the ICU. It was a complete different dimension I went to. You loose all sense of reality as we know it, and you meet strange beings, and see terrible things.

  • Was it cause 12 pods is like... way too much!!!!!

  • i want to see it

  • Yes, this is one tempturess not to be fooled by.

  • Wow! Wonderful vid. Your experience sounds very intense indeed. Some of us are blessed, or cursed, to see the other dimensions without the plant help. I do not wish it on anyone though, as it is much too heavy. I too have seen 'the end of the world' and all kinds of other terrors that have already come to pass. I would love to try the medicines, but fear going too far. I once shape shifted and hallucinated for five days just on a few tokes of marijuana. Needless to say, I don't do that anymore!

  • umm. i hate to be disagreeable but theres no way you hallucinated for 5 days off weed. while it can be surprisingly hallucinogenic in heavy doses in inexperienced users with low tolerances, thats a bit of a stretch.

  • Your not being disagreeable. I can see why it's hard to believe. Most people have a tolerance to drugs that I do not. I already shapeshift and hallucinate without them; weed and other substances just open me up way too much.

  • what exactly does shape shifting entail

  • Don't really want to discuss these details on youtube. But you can look into Shamanism and get an idea. I am Irish, French and Native American. We have always shape shifted.

  • I believe its where your identity shifts in your awareness you are another person, another animal, a rock, a tree.... whatever it might be but your perception shifts so much that you feel youre embodying that

  • datura is not weed you idiot.

  • no one is saying it is. calm down bud

  • maybe the whole "boiling 12 pods" thing was the problem.

I love datura, the only problem is noone understands a fuckin thing you say while on it

  • you love datura? so im assuming you've never eaten it. i've read maybe 40 experiences of people on datura and they ALL contain disturbing hallucinations that cannot be differentiated from reality...seeing people who aren't there and having conversations with them...etc

  • I used eat it, only in small doses though so I didnt become in a totally different reality (I still always see people that arent there when on it though, 1 leaf is enough to do that but not get you to the point of thinking your bathroom is your room)

  • @coldhardfacts if you dont want us to do it dont make it sound so cool haha

  • @coldhardfacts YOU TOOK TO MUCH !! 2 days ago i picked 4 flowers and a bunch of leaf and stem crushed it poured boiled wateron it left it for a while then filtered it into a bottle i had a coke bottle of caramel looking liquid so i drank slowly i got to five mouthfulls and then played the waiting game it took about half an hour and i felt drunk .about an hour later WOW my world was intierly transformed into a vibrant fuzzy world of distortions of every sence its a very heavy trip .. be safe ☮

  • @coldhardfacts Dude what you describe is what I want!!!!

  • @coldhardfacts it use to grow locally where I lived and two friends took some. And for 24++ hours he lost it, looking under cars for something he thought he lost then he thought we were looking him and he was walking around the city for over a day. I thought he was schizophrenic but finally got him to sleep for 3 days.

  • @coldhardfacts Wow why did you decide to do that? I know her songs have deeper meaning and I have been wondering what this song means. I am glad that you are okay and I hope you dont try to do anything like that again.

  • @coldhardfacts thats true!

i never did datura and i never try it..to dangerous.

some people think or say the can handle a datura trip...thats not true unless

you are very strong minded plus you have had a very low amount of atropine in

    your tea.otherwise you get insane!!

  • good music! when crankin the volume up it hits me strong.

nice spiritual feeling with this music

  • @coldhardfacts My mom grows the one called Purple Queen. She gave raw seeds to a druggie former friend of ours and nothing happened...I'm assuming cuz he was a druggie and they were raw?

  • I love Matt's drums and Jons bass in this.. the three of them are just so magical together.

  • Some common names for Datura: Jimson Weed(From the settlers of Jamestown who mistakenly ate the plant), Thorn Apple, Devil's Apple, Devil's Weed, Devil's Cucumber, Devil's Trumpet (The plants w/ blooms pointing skyward), Angel's Trumpet (The plants w/ blooms pointing toward the earth), Loco(crazy) weed, Hell's Bells, and Apple-Peru.

  • I love deadly and hallucinagenic plants for some reason. I have some Datura seeds that I will be growing this year, as well as some local Horsenettle (in the night shade family, beautiful purple/blue flowers). Some years back I wandered across a henbane plant growing in crack in the center of a sidewalk. I should have harvested the seeds as I have yet to see another Henbane plant in my area. (They have these wicked yellow flowers with purple veins and centers. Some call them 'Devil's Eyes'.)

  • I've been working on a musical project since that day...maybe u would like to listen 2 it when its done.

    Greetings,

    Trevor.

  • "Is there room in my heart..for you to follow your heart. You don't need more blood..From the tip of my star.."

  • someone told me to make sure all MAOI inhibitors are extracted to safely njoy ur voyage...with ayahuasca...

    dIvIdIng cAnOn pIEcE bY piECE

  • is there room in my heart

for you to follow your heart?

    and not need more blood

from the tip of your star?

    beautimous!

  • wow!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you for making this!! This is great, but would be so much better if the plants were syncronized to when she says them! This is certainly her most masterful work. Dissertations should be written about it. The goddess Sophia welcoming us back to the Garden through Gnosis? Come in.

  • Cette chanson est... magnifique...

This song can talk to me... I like it !

  • Did anyone notice that a good number of the plants mentioned in the song are hallucinagenic? -When I listen to the song I imagine a witches sabbat where the particpants smear their hallucinagenic flying ointments on their naked flesh and take to the air for a night of revelry (and deviltry!)

  • if only you knew what Datura means...

  • I don't know what the actual name 'Datura' means, but the plant Datura is jimson weed, thornapple, etc..and is/was said to be a major ingrediant in witch's 'flying ointments' that they supposedly smeared on their bodies to be able to fly. (Hence the modern assertion that the flight of witches was simply a hallucination.) Dautra is still widely grown for it's beautiful flowers. Even I have some seeds that I plan on growing this year, but I must stress I do not ingest the plant as it is deadly.

  • Datura comes from Datvra (latin) which means Demon...I live in Mexico and...as u might know, there's a really ocult and mysterious culture of hallucinogen plants. Here Datura is called "Toloache" which comes from the words Torna Loco, which in english means "Insanity Maker".Three years ago I made a tea of about 9 plants and believe me, after something like that...I really learned to have respect for any plant, I thank God he was there among the demons...things are real, so be careful.

  • Hmmm....Wikipedia claims Datura comes from the Hindi, Dhatura (thorn apple), hence the common nick name.

  • I believe you are right, BoyintheMachine, Dhatura means Thorn/apple in Hindi. Toloache is the Aztec name, if I am not mistaken.

  • You know she decided to put this on the CD instead of Zero Point because she and her father were having a large fight over her garden and what was grown in it. Obviously cause most of them were like you said hallucinagenic.

  • LOL...I did not know that. Funny.

  • great video for this song. did you make this?

  • yes hehe was hard
