Once the ship gets a heavy list it´s impossible for the captain and his crew to conduct any rescue operation. Those passengers and crew trapped in their cabins or inner spaces can only be rescued by special teams with special equipment landed on board from helicopters. There is no law obliging the captain to stay on board when he cannot help anybody. De Falco´s duty is to despatch the rescue boats and helicopters, not to order the captain back to the ship to answer his meaningless questions.
I think DeFalco is so fabulous! The way he tore into Schettino - not to mention all the efforts of the other recuers and people that have been trying to find those still missing restores your faith in humanity.
This dude looks and sounds like a drunk, too much vino and partying. That's why he fell into the lifeboat..but of course! If it wasn't for the fact that over 30 ppl died due this incompetent, it would actually be a funny conversation.
see this is why the media shouldn't be able to get their hands on stuff. What probably happened was that the captain was sitting in his cabin finishing some piece of paperwork or other, when the ship grounded. It was probably a junior 2nd mate's fault and now the captain is being crucified for the simple factors of general ignorance inherent in the public with regards to Maritime workings and the tyrannical sensationalism of the media. He could not have been ''waving''. It was 9 46 pm! .
now a few weeks later is clear up: the ship company is a coward like schettino is !! They told him "go on this line" - ok the captain is in right to refuse .... but anyone of us didnt took the line if you had travellingf the same thing more then 50times ?? Ok, i disliked how schettino walked off the ship, and yes hes a coward but the ship company is also a lier and coward ! No one can bring us back our loves ! :(
at least captain smith of the RMS Titanic in 1912 stayed on his ship, he wasn't a coward to die, no a coward get's off the ship and wants to go home, how pathetic!!!.
Are you reading this Schettino ? You should do everybody a favour an put a bullet in yr head. You ran the ship aground showing off to yr whore lover and then abandoned the ship when people still on board dying & trying to survive. You are a disgrace to all sea Captains. You are a coward, a liar, and an adulterer. Your ego has cost the lives of 32 innocent people. How do you live with yourself? How can you possibly justify what has happened in yr mind?
@mysterycheez...perhaps...but it is the code of the sea captain. Does not a sea captain technically commit suicide when he 'goes down with his ship'? He has a choice to live but decides to risk his own life as he makes sure everyone is safe on his charge. It is an honour thing. I recommend it now on his behalf. Better late than never. He should have decided to put his life on the line himself. Instead he is in a taxi going home while people are dying on the ship. Shame.

@oblongjoeisreal But do not read newspapers? De Falco is not a hero, he made that called to Schettino ( after 3 hours ) to cover his own faults, delay in rescue, De Falco has therefore recorded the phone call, for its own alibi, italian judiciary are investigating De Falco as well, why the Coast Guard recorded "regular traffic" at accident occured? If he really wanted Schettino on board could'nt he sent an elicopetr to Schettino? why he calls Schettino only 3 hours after? because of deaths?

it was not necessary to talk down to anybody..even the capt. , he's already stressed as hell, no matter what...surprisingly he's replying as normal as possible. But not the coastguard ..Or is that how Italian talk pitch are & normal?? let the investigation find all the heros & villians. Respect to those lost in this accident.
It's easy for DeFalco to act brave when he's safe on dry land too. Just sayin. Neither of these guys are heroes. The crew who stayed on board to help the passengers are the heroes. Why aren't we hearing about them?
@oyasek De Falco is a military Commander; in the Army, his rank is LTC. A Lieutenant Colonel must coordinate rescue operations. He did this, and he did very good. The Warrant Officers and the enlisted personnel went onboard. That's the difference between military Officers and non-Officers. All Italians media stated that the real heroes are Sottocapo (CPL) Alessandro Tosi, who gave the alarm, and a part of the crew who helped people onboard.
@oyasek Are u stupid??Easy to act brave are u fckn stupid!!Schettino is the god damned f captain fo u understand that responsibilty he is not a fckn cleaner or bartender he is CAPTAIN!! Schettino is FCKN Captain on the Fckn Ship.He has the command of ship and its his fckn obligation duty to leave ship last man.He needs to take care of his crew and passagers and coordinate rescue if so needed this is LAW.He is a captain not a fckn bartender grow the f up!!
@oyasek And u ,nobody say Falco is a fckn Hero but he is a commander and knows the responsibility that goes with that. I bet u a fckn million he would run away like a fckn rat like Schettino did why? BECAUSE he is a real captain and a military commander. And by they way everyone who has at least a little balls and sense for responsibility would have stayed and helped out. Not like fckn Schettino first of the fckn boat. Schettino was Captain on ship!!With that comes an obligation!!
@oyasek And Schettino like the little fckn coward rat he is ran away first man who got off the fckn boat!! Schettino abandoned his crew all his passangers he left to die and he abondoned all his dutys and obligation that due to law he is obligated to fulfill when working as captain he failed everything that he ever could have failed with. Schettino is a fckn rat and are responsable for many peoples lifes lost navigating wrongly and then left ship directely after it began sinkin! F ASSH!
@oyasek Di Falco has worked his way up to a high rank in the coastguard.....You don't get to be of that rank by being a snivelling coward. He is trying, in an emergency situation, to instill some ethics and right thinking into a selfish coward who has abandoned his duty to the lives of his passengers. Would it be acceptable for a capt of a passenger plane to don his parachute and leap to safety leaving the passengers to fend for themselves as the plane plummeted towards earth?
@oyasek Well he deserves a credit for stubbornly insisting the captain returns on board. Instead of just saying: "You refuse - very well, I will have you arrested." like most of the Euro bureaucrats would do. Though I don't think it was too risky for him.
"Listen Schettino. maybe you saved yourself from the sea, but i'm going to make sure you get in trouble, GO ON BOARD, damn it" THIS IS AN EPIC PHRASE!!!!!! great Comander De Falco!!!!!!!!!!
@a6km No at all !!!! He is free !!!! He is in own village. He sleeps in his bed, eats in own food, fcuks his monkey, breath a fresh air in his home city.... HE IS FREE !!!!
Just chocking !!!
If the ship has been in high tide, he would have killed more than 4000 passengers, much more than the Titanic and he is free !! Oh my goodness !!
But he is not the only one. On TV we can see an asian officer telling the passengers to go back in their cabins. She said that all was under control.
@AlessandroFarnese you must be an idiot to make such comments when so many people have died. I wonder if you would say the same if it was a member of your family on that boat!
An italian man over that board is dead because he allowed a child to use rescue boat at his place, you and your breed of useless backward muzzies who put their fag asses up at noon, beat their women and throw them acid on their faces sure that they would be not charged by police. Hahaha and that is bravery? You should put your head under sand and give us the laughs to see what kind of retards you are instead you have the bad taste to talk, and talk and talk...lol
Yes it takes balls, like killing women and put bombs where old men and children are too even without using explosive belts, you fucking muzzie faggot. We all have seen how those great heroes cried like girls in Guantanamo asking for help or how they collaborate with CIA.
At the end your breed worshipped a phedopile who fucked a child what do you want to expect from your kinds?
No matter whatever awful has been experienced by other people, no matter where, no matter how, people's reactions on youtube are always the same: the old, SAME racist, sexist, homophobic comments are vomited at incredible speed.
Let's stop the hatred, it's bad. For ALL of us.
Let's EVOLVE. This is the XXI century (!) and we all just want to be happy and loved. We have more in common as humans than difference.
Ciao from Italy (Europe, the World, The Universe.. :)

I watch these comments and wonder how the discussion could stray that much from the primary subject. It's a conversation between a professional and someone who he thinks is a professional, but as the convesation continues he realises that he is speaking to someone who either doesn't care or doesn't know what to do in an emergency situation. You can hear De Falco disbelief as he keeps telling the captain to follow procedures. The difference between a civilian and a military man

@lindamonac non le devi spiegare ne' qui ne' altrove, le conosco bene, ho avuto modo di riflettere a lungo sui pro e i contro nei miei 8 anni di vita all'estero (Londra) , but no matter what you say, and no matter why you say it, ITALY holds one of the richest artistic-cultural assets in the world. Ri-ciao ri-acidona :)
Ma a me che me ne frega?
Ogni paese ha i suoi scandali e i suoi sciacalli, no eccezioni. ciao paolo!!! :)
@paolo7899 (continua) dicevo..gia' ritieniti fortunato ad essere l'erede di Leonardo, Rita, Michelangelo, Raffaello, Bernini, Galileo, Dante etc etc etc etc. CAPISCO la tua rabbia pero', ma quando pensi all'Italia pensa al paese bellissimo e ricco (pensa solo al patrimonio artistico..) in cui vivi, ama l'italia per quello che e': un paese bellissimo in/con tutti i sensi, con xsone di TUTTI i tipi..schettino-like people are, purtroppo, EVERYWHERE! scusa il sermone, I did not mean to preach! :)
@kutaman1 Because of his cowardice, he's named 'Chicken of the Sea". Great name! Every tragedy brings out 'sick' humor but serves a purpose called COMIC RELIEF. Anybody in the medical field understands the concept very well. KS

it was not necessary to talk down to anybody..even the capt. , he's already stressed as hell, no matter what...surprisingly he's replying as normal as possible.

Why aren't we hearing about them?
oyasek 1 month ago 23

Schettino is FCKN Captain on the Fckn Ship.He has the command of ship and its his fckn obligation duty to leave ship last man.He needs to take care of his crew and passagers and coordinate rescue if so needed this is LAW.He is a captain not a fckn bartender grow the f up!!
godiskungen27 4 weeks ago
@oyasek And u ,nobody say Falco is a fckn Hero but he is a commander and knows the responsibility that goes with that. I bet u a fckn million he would run away like a fckn rat like Schettino did why? BECAUSE he is a real captain and a military commander. And by they way everyone who has at least a little balls and sense for responsibility would have stayed and helped out. Not like fckn Schettino first of the fckn boat. Schettino was Captain on ship!!With that comes an obligation!!
godiskungen27 4 weeks ago
@oyasek And Schettino like the little fckn coward rat he is ran away first man who got off the fckn boat!! Schettino abandoned his crew all his passangers he left to die and he abondoned all his dutys and obligation that due to law he is obligated to fulfill when working as captain he failed everything that he ever could have failed with. Schettino is a fckn rat and are responsable for many peoples lifes lost navigating wrongly and then left ship directely after it began sinkin! F ASSH!
godiskungen27 4 weeks ago
@oyasek Di Falco has worked his way up to a high rank in the coastguard.....You don't get to be of that rank by being a snivelling coward. He is trying, in an emergency situation, to instill some ethics and right thinking into a selfish coward who has abandoned his duty to the lives of his passengers. Would it be acceptable for a capt of a passenger plane to don his parachute and leap to safety leaving the passengers to fend for themselves as the plane plummeted towards earth?
loquaciousbunny 3 weeks ago
@oyasek you think he just got commander with luck ? he probably did his duties and the fucking captain should stay on his ship!
TheAchoron 2 weeks ago
@oyasek Well he deserves a credit for stubbornly insisting the captain returns on board. Instead of just saying: "You refuse - very well, I will have you arrested." like most of the Euro bureaucrats would do. Though I don't think it was too risky for him.

By the slowness of Schettino's responses, as well as the obvious confusion in them, it is only rational to conclude that the captain is drunk...
