It takes people roughly 5+ years to really heal from the death of a parent. While I have not experienced the death of a parent, I witnessed how it deeply affected my mother when both of her parents passed away within 3 years of each other. She has just recently seemed like she has healed, emotionally, from it. So I can only imagine what you're experiencing.

I wish you the happiest of memories about your mother on this day. I'm sure your mother would be very excited for you and proud of you.
