anyone who plays oboe should be smart enough on how to put it together...anyone who plays any instrument should be smart enough to put it together...durr
@ohnoesJG Thanks for your question. The instrument displayed in the video is a student level Yamaha Oboe (YOB-241). So it is not what is considered a "conservatoire" model. We primarily rent and service student level instruments in the store, which is why we chose to demonstrate with this particular model. Step-up or intermediate/professional instruments are available in the store for purchase, as well as repaired by our techs here also. Hope that helps!
i like to do the bell and the lower joint first so i dont press on the keys as much and they dont shift, but that is just a personal preface. i was wondering if you could make a video on notes and stuff. i really need help with that!
My winter concert was great! My camera died in the third song, though. Never trust my little sister with a video camera! (she was the one who recorded the third song) anyway, you can see them if you search '' Emily B's Second Concert parts 1,2, and 3''
@theEmily998 Thanks for your note. Although the bell should fit tightly, if it's too tight we suggest you take it to a repair shop. The problem is either with the cork or the tenon itself. The cork is an easy fix for a repairman and simply involves lightly sanding the cork. The repair to tenons is more complicated and requires the right tools. Hope this helps. Good luck in your winter concert!
Thank you for this! My teacher told me to go do as much research on Oboe's as possible because I will be playing one for our spring concert. This helped me to know a lot more about the PROPER assembly and cleaning of the Oboe!

Thanks! Assembling the bell looked so easy, but my bell is impossible to push in without cork grease. My winter concert in only 3 days!!!!!!!!!!!
