  • press 7

  • @TheFashel12 Stinking troll...

  • metal heads grow up !!!

  • is that the expert village guy at the end?

  • Devin Townsend really took a lot from Steve's sound, but, damn, Dev took its poetry to another level.

  • @guitarplayrRJ he bends the string back with his right hand then picks the string with a free finger. While also tapping the sharp'd E string natural harmonic with his fret hand. I.e. Just showing off cause he can.

  • Dimebag is better

  • Faggot sound and attitude from this ...oh my he is a faggot..

  • what a spastic guitar

  • "Here's what I like to do with a 7 string...."

    *Plays an open B twice*

  • @guitarplayrRJ Don't think that was supposed to be a divebomb...

  • Tosin Abasi worries about skank like VAI? hahahahaha

  • there's a reason he won best guitar player award 9 years running. and he only started playing when he was 15!

  • @flyingVdean So what? Awards mean what again? Ass kissers

  • Vai=the most overated piece o shit w/eyes guitar player in the world

  • What a amazing guitar.

  • god i love his sound!

  • The whole time steve looks like hes trying to resist the urge to shred, then he does all little and he's like ah fuck and stops

  • @Trololololololol9000

  • can some one tell me which extra string this implies for "whats the extra string basically"

  • I love how dino's fat ass squeezes itself into the beginning XD

  • Hey guys, i think Dino is pretty good.

  • rock sucks ,

  • how could stop the frigging video when Wes Borland was about to play....

  • i used to think metal was the only way. then i grew up a bit and realised that its still fucking awesome as is alot of other music aswell. open your minds people!

  • what is steve vai singing ?:O it's so fucking cool:o3

  • What's with the guy in the beginning?

  • @Edvardsn you mean dino cazares? he's the guitarist for divine heresy, uses 7 and 8 string guitars, kind of random in this video though

  • david beckham and steve vai have something in common....SEVERELY, UTTERLY, 100% UNDOUBTEDLY - ULTRA OVER RATED

  • @Borneomann

quick name four guitarist that deserve fame more than vai

(and beckham is only famous because he is good looking)

  • "Weird guy at the end" aka Wes Borland ? With a shitty haircut ;)

  • vai should stay the fuck away from 6+ string guitars

  • @ghostrocktheband You should do some research on steve vai and seven strings man. He helped make seven strings what they are today, and his seven string (the ibanez universe) is still selling and is widely used by todays bands.

  • on my last comment i meant 00:06 to 00:32 :P

  • what is it that Vai playes from 06:00 to 32:00 ??...

I would really like to leran that :D.... can someone help me ???????

  • SLOPPY!

  • Fear factory isn't all that great.. Steve Vai though.. damn. i don't even have to say it

  • Dupa i chuj :D

  • I liked it until he did those shit hammer ons and pull offs and shredding. Then it was just crap, they didn't fit the melody at all and it felt like overkill.

  • Nie widzę żadnego wpisu po Polsku więc piszę DUPA

  • Shit I remember downloading this on KaZaA back in the day. Still amazed

  • Comparing who is "the best guitarist" is so immature and cliche it makes me want to cry whenever someone does it.

  • Fuck... That's it, I'm buying my 7 string back from my friend. :/ I miss it so damn much now...

  • heres some things you can do with a 7 string guitar (well you cant do it) but heres what i like 2 do

  • Comment removed

  • @Shimekiri I dont know about that. You look at Flexible and you can see that Steve was already swinging before Not Of This Earth and Surfing with the Alien even came out.

  • I've actually watched this whole video...Steve is by a LONG way more skilled than all the other guitarists on it.

Well, he's more skilled than ALL guitarists in the world. I don't know, might be my bias :D

  • @SamWycombe nah, i mean there are other guitarists that are better, like joe satriani, but vai outstrips loads of guitarists, he's just sheer brilliance.

  • @Draceius funny thing is that satriani admitted that he thinks vai surpassed him...lol

  • @Hotdog40404040404 when satch was giving him lessons he said on that metal show that he had to make a choice about showing him everything he knows because vai was more talented.

  • Santana is shit compared to Stevie vai

  • @deeryit Bottom line, ya like what ya like. Somebody said to Santana that one of his riffs was 'simple'. Santana's reply... "Could you have come up with it???" Yes, a bazillion great guitarists.... what's coming out of YOUR amp??

Personally, I can play. I suck. Creatively, I suck as well. Instead of hashing about 'WHO'S THE BEST'.. post your own shit.

Vinnie Moore is good and I must now give Steve Vai his due. Awesome. As well as the other 0.999 bazillion great guitarsts. HELLO!!!

  • he should turn that into a song! SO amazing!!

  • 100% speed 0% feeling. this guy should learn from Santana or Mark Knopfler.

  • @komaxlaredo Are you joking? Steve Vai has a lot of emotion when he plays, look at some of his live videos.

  • @komaxlaredo Derp. Obviously never listened to Steve Vai before.

  • @komaxlaredo i laugh at you just anther ignorant who thinks that ``feeling´´ is a slow solo full of bends

  • @komaxlaredo

0% Feeling? We know that ur jealous,BUT 0% ?!! zero fucking percent?!!

    you lost your mind.

  • @komaxlaredo jop :D:D its them who should learn from Him my friend..and try to argue after listening to at least 2 of his albums

  • who the fuck was the fat man ?lol

  • @iluvmyaxe dino cazares

  • for those who didn't know... the fat guy in the beginning is the one who really play for Vai. I mean, steve Vai actually only move his hand like he's playin but the real gtr player is the fat guy ! It's all real. Since Steve (pick up the gtr)

  • "here is some ofthe things you can do with a 7 string guitar"

The fact: He didn´t play the 7 string in the whole freaking video

  • @marcelosoy1 Yes he does you dolt. You can clearly hear the low B ringing all through the piece. Are you deaf or something?

  • @marcelosoy1 the first fucking riff he goes to the seventh-if you had any kind of fucking ear you'd hear that-dumb ass.

  • So wait....how again did he make good use of a 7-string?

  • love steve vai best guitarest in the world

  • @TheWustie I think he's overhyped. Check out Tosin Abasi.

  • @sifterofheads Just listened to some Tosin Abasi per your request, very nice stuff! I'm not sure if he plays metal like Vai does (or simply put, has the range Vai does), which is why overall I'd have to side with him if I only had to pick 1 of 2 on a desert island.

  • @imills14 He's in a band called Animals As Leaders and they play some metal. Like, Tempting Time and CAFO are their best knowns songs. Wave of Babies [I know, odd name] is heavy too.

  • @imills14 just check out his band, "animals as leaders' , he uses a lot of 8 string man, his stuff is cool

check out songs like: point to point, inamorata, tessitura, CAFO , they totally rock.

  • So he likes to play really shitty one string riffs on a seven string? Because it sounds like he plays it exactly the same as a 6 string otherwise.

  • that ¨FAT GUY ¨ is non other than Dino Cazares and has his( 8 ) strings signature guitar with ibanez

  • @ctabta thats about 2 strings too many in that case

  • @ctabta a total fag

  • Wes Borland at the end YEAH!!!

  • Its funny how he never actually fretted any notes on his actual seventh string, haha. Its just open the whole time.

  • Steve Vai sucks with a 7 string it's like seriously come on leave it too real musicians not too mention what's the point of a 7 string besides METAL!!

  • @127iguanarocker How about the guitar players that were using 7 strings long before heavy metal even existed? I am of course talking about jazz players. Who make far more interesting use of 7 string guitars than metal players, who usually just use them for chugging. ;)

  • @JRBain7 8====D

  • @DerivedDesert Very mature...

  • @JRBain7

More like very wide and large!

    8=========D

  • what not to do with a 7 string.

  • what a fag

  • Keeping in mind Mr. Trey Azagthoth brought the 7-string to the forefront as well circa '92, '93 and on, especially for metal context.

  • beginner, come back to the six strings

  • ushauhsua, this guitar is not for this guitarrist....

  • dino rocks!!!

  • Ill just ignore the fat guy at the bgeinning...

  • @natrockskate That "fat guy" is just Dino Cazares (Fear Factory, Brujeria, Assessino)....

  • @natrockskate That "fat guy" is Dino mother fucking Cazares.

  • @damaged01 dino who? that guy is miles behind vai so it doesn't matter who he is

  • @damaged01

However, that still doesn't change the fact that he's fat.

  • @StevieVaibanez Hmmmm. Yes it does.

  • @damaged01 and?? this is Steve fuckin Vai.. they dont belong on the same planet

  • @damaged01 like anyone gives a shit LOL

  • @damaged01 And he is shit.

  • @damaged01 ex-dominos

  • Comment removed

  • @damaged01 To each his own. Just enjoy different guitarists for what they have to offer for fucks sake.

  • @damaged01 which is why we're gonnna ignore him and listen to vai

  • @hardyzforlife That comment made my day.

  • @damaged01

well, he's a goddamn metalhead, so we'll still ignore him

  • @TommittajaFIN oooh look at me i am to good for metal.

  • @Genesis817

well. i don't like metal. at all. (why are you saying metal is inferior to rock?)

i just hate when metalheads go "your music sucks, it's for pussies. death metal is the ONLY music".

    so yes, i hate metal.

  • @TommittajaFIN it depends what your talking about cardboard cuttouts like the foo fighters , strokes ,hives , Coldplay , or real music like nirvana, carlos santana , black flag, miles davis , ect . if talking about today's music then i say metal

  • @sonobecube

well the REAL music is good. :D

altho i really wouldn't say santana or nirvana is metal ;D

  • @TommittajaFIN I listen to metal (yes, death metal, black metal, etc.) as well as jazz, blues, rock, classical, etc. You're pretty fucking ignorant.

  • @aarongtr180

well, i see my post is a little bit more aggressive as i would prefer, but i'll clear it up for you peeps.

i don't "hate" metal. i hate metalheads that bash on all music except metal.

  • @damaged01 who sucks

  • @metaldudeupnorth Dino does not suck. You may not like his style, but he is very good at it.

  • @damaged01 i actually saw him as an opening for MetallicA, so mabie you understand... nevermind, it all comes down to opinions :)

  • @damaged01 Dino, worst user of an 8 string out there.

  • @damaged01 You make it sound like he's good at guitar.

  • @damaged01

    HE SUCKS BALLS

  • @damaged01 aka shit on strings

  • @damaged01

What's the big deal? He's just some disgusting blob that tries to compensate for his unusually small penis by adding more strings to his guitars. His tone is reminiscent of the noise he makes when he is done eating his usual breakfast of 7 burritos. His atonal riffing is amateur at best, and overall he is really nothing special.

  • @WoWintosh hahahah i agree 100% with you man !

  • @WoWintosh Doesn't matter your opinion of him, cos he's still coller and richer than your jealous ordinary boring ass ever could be.

  • @WoWintosh haha at first i thought you were talking about vai

  • @natrockskate what fat guy? ;)

  • @natrockskate

    Is that your wife?

  • @natrockskate is he dino cazares?

  • @hateofgod666 that guy from divine heresy

  • @natrockskate and the weird guy at the end :P

  • is this a real song by him?

  • 1:19

    thisssisss

  • 7 String Bass is better xD

  • reallly

  • i always wonder if steve puts some sort of wax on his fingers before he plays, just to be able to play that fast

  • I like how Steve can take a guitar, practically made for metal. And just turn it into something melodic and beautiful.

  • @JTNorquay And metal is not melodic and beautiful?

  • @JTNorquay

first of all, metal can be very melodic and beautiful, second, the seven string was originally made for steve vai, not metal

a more accurate statement would be- "i love how meshuggah can take a guitar, practically made for steve, and turn it into something heavy as fuck!"

  • @MarcusFenixtheMan Oh I agree very much with metal being melodic and beautiful. What I really meant to say was something uplifting, almost pretty sounding. You know? And 7 strings were not originally made for Vai. They've been around for almost 200 years now. And I just find it ironic that you say metal is very melodic, but your choice of a metal band is known for it's experimentation and rhythm-based music. Although I agree that metal could be very melodic and beautiful.

  • @JTNorquay

ibanez started mass producing 7 strings after the success of the universe, up until that point the only way to get a 7 string was to have it custom made, and that only happened if you were a highly valued endorsee, as for meshuggah, the point of that comment was to continue with the theme you established of someone taking a seven string and using it for something it was not originally intended

  • @MarcusFenixtheMan I see your point. You sir deserve a thumbs up.

  • pretty much made korn

  • Comment removed

  • 0:1 this guy is like an egg

  • wtf is Dino doing here. He belongs in a Fear Factory video! >:D
