  • Basically, the guy that wrote this movie was tripping and decided to make it a story, as if it had some kind of relevant meaning.

  • it's good movie to choose a wallpaper for your laptop

  • it's the best movie to watch if you were sleepy

  • wtf whas that?

  • spoiler alert: It conveys the loss of innocence of childhood stage, those who took that stage lightly press onward, those who didnt did not

  • like if you can't hear dialogue

  • amazing movie, soundtrack is rlly great..

  • Comment removed

  • @MrCrynickYT then why are you here? if were so stupid why visit our websites?

  • Cool

  • ignorance those kids running and breathing in that ddt

  • On par with 2001, but nowhere near as epic.

  • Too bad the movie wasn't as good as the trailer.

The movie was beautifully shot and incredibly acted, but in terms of a story -- there really is none. I don't think even Terrance Malick knows what his movies are about.

  • I'm still not sure if this movie is totally shit, or completly amazing.

  • whats it about?

  • @timlopez98 It's about life, about the drama, about the happiness, about the bitter moments and sweet moments of our life.

  • i fucking hate those dumbasses who say this movie is pretentious or "trying to be deep" its terrence fucking mallick and its a masterpiece, hes not trying to do anything hes just making a stunningly beautiful movie

  • @kapillie meh it's trying to be deep

  • @Redflowers9 damn you

  • @kapillie lol!

  • I managed to watch 50 minutes of this movie... how long can u take it ??

  • @NorwayLove I was able to watch the whole thing, but I envy you for only watching 50 minutes. I prefer movies that have a solid point. That way, I know the maker had some real sense for making it. You can tell there's no solid point when people start referring to vague high-windedness to define it, rather than treating the story as the subtlety, letting its i theme & impact be what's direct. "Oh, it's about love, life, loss, innocence, ...water, god, planet, giraffe, corporation..."

  • 👇 = right

  • 80 % poetry reading, with stunning visual slides all recreating the beginning of the world as it reaches to the present day.... Cinematography? superb, soundtrack? Outstanding. Acting? Flawless.... the only problem is it's an 89 percent slide show and poetry reading....

  • I watched this movie last night and I must say it was breath taking for me personaly it had me feeling the entire time I was in the movie and perception of my thoughts!! I know there will be a certain number of people that just can not grasp the film but I like to think more can then can not or flat refuse to because its not simple minded!!

  • @riverotears1971 I can't wait to see this movie

  • I've never seen this much polarization in a comment section before. There seems to literally be nothing here but "GREATEST MOVIE EVER" or "THIS IS THE MOST BORINGEST SHIT EVER".

If you agree with the definition of an artist is someone who's meant to provoke strong feelings, I can think we safely say that Malick is doing something right.

  • whoever doesnt like this movie obviously does not appreicate the finer things in movies. This trailer alone is FANTASTIC!

  • Just finished watching it.It's a slideshow!Yes you heard me well.I would define this as an documentary movie, cause there is 15-20 minutes of movie, and everything else is slideshow of beautiful pictures..I'm actually still wondering why Brad accepted this 10 minutes roll.So I really suggest that this is classified as an documentary otherwise it's unnecessary project. If i would rate this as an movie i would give it 2 from 1-10 scale.Such a waste of time

  • @ranjeniorao87 There is far more than 15-20 minutes of typical 'movie dialogue'. Its not a traditional movie anyway. It compares the existence of one human to the creation of the universe.

  • @NotaCleverUsername91 Well sorry then.I didn't measure right. There is an 20-25 minutes of movie then.

  • The Tree of Pretentious Twaddle - Rex Reed, The New York Observer.

  • YEah...seeing Sean Penn in there makes me not want to watch this movie, even if Brad Pitt is in it.

  • @sigmapsicharlie He's hardly in it.

  • Beautiful pictures alone don't make a great film.

  • Like this guy under me and a bunch of others, all i can say is wait for Transformers 4 and all that dirt that will come out this summer.

I can't get enough of film that are thought provoking and are absolutely amazing and I love, LOVE Turner Classic Movies (TCM) every night/day of the week. Reflections in a Golden Eye, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Bad Day at Black Rock, The Vikings, and a slew of others. I can't get enough, and there is so much more that I have not seen as of yet.

  • why dis' movies good is because you never saw something such as

    and it's all fake

    it's worse to the root

  • just like the new world, this movie has cinematography that provokes tears in me. i don't know many directors who are capable of such magic

  • the cinematography is AMAZING, OUTSTANDING....direction- NIL!

  • I don't get it.

  • Comment removed

  • @DoTheDanwah You won't. It's a pointless movie with little to no speaking.

  • @DoTheDanwah watch it when youre older.

  • I thought the film was interesting... But! It was overly preachy, boring, and looked more like stock footage than a film

  • @DESTROYNME1011 What was it preachy about? I didn't feel that at all.

  • After watching the movie 12 times, I have it figured out:

    Shit happens

  • well basically its saying your life is a waste and everything chasing after wind if there is no value in it. The only value of life can be found in loving God and Loving others as you love yourself. In all its all done in vain. everything is vain without God in it.

  • i saw the movie ddnt understand anything.....:(((

plez any1 tell a abstract abt the film pleez....

    how it get these awads...???

  • fantastic movie. mind blowing soundtrack to a moving piece of art film.

  • Best film I've ever seen. If you didn't like it. You didn't get it.

  • this movie IS BORING AS HELL

  • @arthasbro Maybe you should watch something like Jack and Jill, this movie is a masterpiece!

  • If we did not, we would not survive anymore. Everyone die, some of us chose to believe something, some of us didn't have chance to survive, some of us killed themselves but everyone left something behind, because human kind is still alive. So surprisingly as hell, our humanity follows us, like we are god. If some day we give a try to destroy our humanity and our tree of life, yeah we may do it. WE can do it. WE are making choices all the time.

  • "Tree of Life" is not only a movie. It is a mirror of nature, what nature created is humanity, what human created is religion and praying for nature and themselves. Surprisingly, before I watched it, I also thought this movie is religionist, and try to make us believe what director believes. but NO... Malick gave us a movie about life. remember: life is our choices, and we chose to build humanity.

  • This film was a genuine masterpiece of true art. The raw storyline of Terrence Malick's pure genius is relatable to anyone who watches it. Anyone who suffered a loss, had a conflicted upbringing, or simply progressed through childhood to adulthood via the link of innocence and destruction can relate to the characters, as well as the main theme of the film.

  • Where is the piratebay comment ??

  • The thing about this movie is that you have to be really patient. Then, I guarantee you, people will leaving the movie theater which becomes distracting makes you lose patience.

  • this movie doesn't suck! it might be a kind of movie that's not very commun, but the picture is absolutely gorgeous, and Brad Pitt's acting is really good.

  • this movie sucks donkey balls

  • This movie sucks Watch Enter The Void Or 2001 if you want a good movie kinda like this

  • visually stunning but i feel like it just tried to hard... the last 15 min just ruined it for me

  • Most people said this movie sucks

  • @folladordeprostis Because it does

  • @folladordeprostis I think that's maybe because they don't understand its message xD

  • "The Tree of Life, Sit & Watch As You May Learn & Understand About The Meaning Of Life"

  • nagyon jo

  • wtf

  • inspiring movie as poetry as story

  • Best Picture of the Year.

  • People who dislike this movie think Final Destination is a good movie...

  • I watched the movie and I really dont uderstand what happened. can someone explain?

  • Фильм...не плохой, не хороший.

  • Are you kidding!? This film was robbed for Best Director and Best Picture and 8 other awards (editing, sound, music, CINEMATOGRAPHY & Best Supporting Actor (Brad Pitt)).

Now listen carefully. I guarantee, at the end of this decade, that this film will be listed as one of the best films of the 2010s!

  • uh huh....................

  • A good movie is a movie to tell a meaning of life. You have to pay full patient to understand the story so that you can get the meaning.

  • It's challenging, beautiful, nostalgic, ethereal. Wait until you're ready for it, but I recommend it to absolutely everyone.

  • Its a movie about nothing!

  • @GeneralLotz

At least we have one people from the states who are honest about this movie.

  • the movie was boring... i didnt liked it. i wonder how did it won oscar.

  • This movie flat out, hands down one of the most stunningly beautiful movies of all time.

  • @jcraf100 Did we watch the same movie ?

  • @jcraf100 I agree with my whole heart. I agree with you, screenjunky, this film is the complete package. Not winning an award almost makes me appreciate it more, people rarely see real beauty. The feeling I get from it is reminiscent of Wilder's Our Town. "Do any human beings ever realize life while they live it?—every, every minute?"

  • @jcraf100 as someone who has seen movies throughout my whole life and who has been a fan of the moving image for years... i still never understood this movie

  • This movie is just perfect. Best pictures for sure!

  • For all of you complaining about the movie. Don't you find it weird that after wasting 3 hours of your life you want to spend more on silly comments? Can it be that you don't see your actions and that you are just frustrated and want to be against something because this is the only thing that keeps you going? Maybe you should reflect upon this...

  • unfortunately for this movie it is too profound to win an oscar, but hey this isn't bad. it's bad that people appreciate things in life without any second thoughts and end up not living their lives but waiting for their sorry end and they are not even aware of that...

  • I'm speechless even after watching trailer. I have seen this movie and can assure you that it's perfect. There is philosofy, brilliant soundtrack, relationships which are more than simple love story. I know that i will watch it again very soon because it's my way getting away from everything. Watching this movie you lost your way, reality and ground under yout feet.

  • I think there should be an oscar for best weird movie as well. Can anybody name a weirder movie than this released last year.

  • BEST FILM EVER

  • Thumbs up if you slept in the movie jaja

  • Check out my channel, I make films!

  • cinematography was great ..... the only positive i have to say

  • Thanks metallic stucco Now I want to see it!

  • This movie is full of Satanic messages and should be avoided at all costs! - Reverend Peter Blakeley.

  • @metallicstucco satanism is where it's at

  • @metallicstucco Really? Fuck yeah, I'm gonna download it immediately! THANKS Reverend!

  • @metallicstucco go to your cross and nail yourself to it, cause I won't do it for you! I feel sorry for you.

  • @metallicstucco Can you prove this?

  • piece of crap religious bullshit movie

  • @cyrush5n1 That comment just proves you had no clue what was going on in the movie. It was about Grace vs Nature. Here is some advice, educate yourself and post you shitty opinon after.

  • @juanjillocr Storytereelling. Apparently someone dies, we don't know how or see when. The flashback of the house where the movie takes places seems meaningless because the person who dies doesn't die there. Also apparently it is set on fire and also flooded somehow. One of the kids isn't important in the movie at all, random images toward the end, plus a billion other random/confusing moments. I was actually paying attention too and analyzing. I got most of it, but I just can't blame myself.

  • This film was robbed big time, it's the real winner for best cinematography at the academies

  • @screenjunky maybe but hugo made my jaw drop at all most every scenery the tree of life was beautiful but hugo in my opinion has it beat

  • @screenjunky People that really enjoy cinema don't care about the Academy.

  • @djgiga so in other words you're saying Tarantino, Scorsese, Spielberg, Coppola, Peter Jackson, Clint Eastwood and all these other film legends who have won an oscar or attended the Academies don't 'enjoy cinema'?

  • i don't understand the trailer, and i haven't seen the movie. someone care to explain please?

  • Emanuel Lubezki deserved the Oscar for best Cinematography.

  • Art.

  • Too bad this was snubbed last night.

  • Great film.. Why is everyone complaining that this is missing a storyline/conflict/resolution/climax? It's an experimental film. It was an experiment.

    A great one.

  • the peole who aanswer i will subscrive to your chanel why does this movie were nom inated why does the acadamy only nominates the drama movies there are alot of movies that are not artistic or drama and are way better than the cultural sorry bout my english

  • I LOVED THIS MOVIE <3

  • most boring movie i've ever seen, should have been paid to sit through it

  • great "film", gay trailer

  • I have not seen this film yet. It looks really interesting. Some people are saying it should of won best picture, but I really did love The Artist. You know what film I thought should have won an award was Hell and Back Again for best documentary. That film is so good that it gave me goosebumps. Did anyone else see it? hellandbackagain. com/

  • Could somebody tell WHAT THE FUCK is going on in the academy? Hugo won best cinematography...? WHAT THE FUCK?

  • @juanjillocr I can't....

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW THE NAME OF THE SONG DURING THE CREDITS THAT NATASHA BEDINGFIELD SANG?

  • I thought this movie was great but it's not for everyone so I can understand why some ppl didnt like it

  • I DONT KNOW MAN...I DONT

  • How did this not get an oscar for cinematography

  • And this didn't win Best Cinematography? Proof there is no God.

  • so what is this film about?

  • Tree of Life was the only movie nominated that I've seen. The scope of the movie is so massive that no other film compares, also the cinematography was the best I've seen all of last year. However, the narrative didn't work for me and I was confused at many times. This movie could have been a masterpiece but there was a clear flaw in the storytelling.

  • @everenferno What was the flaw?

  • @proffromgview Its constructive advice for the audience to watch carefully. My dad had trouble watching the movie because he could`nt pay attention to what was going on. Oh and by the way I am no american. You`re insult is irrelevant

  • i havent seen this but so reminds me of thin red line and yes i know Terrence M directed that aswell ^_^ looks like a nice film

  • One of the most transcendent films of 2011. You can't help but feel utter gratitude for what you feel after watching this film. This film is great for showing that cinema's obligation is simply one of revelation to the viewer. With this film, the multitude of how one perceives it is truly magnificent.

  • Its not really a movie - its art

  • tree of life is a piece of trash movie

  • HAHHAHA all you sad bitches... Tree of LIfe didnt win shit at the Oscars

  • I can understand why a lot of people didn't like this film, but it was a revelation for me. The sequence with the babies growing up and the bits of their world they take in- a light on the wall, the feel of grass, the touch of a mother- it was like watching my own first memories on a screen before me. Incredible.

  • @WatermelonMachete Totaly agree

  • This film was 3 hours of pretty pictures. Talented camera work. But if I wanted to see a slideshow like that, I would have bought a screensaver.

  • Never heard of it.

    Looks good though.

  • This was robbed of a cinematography Oscar. Love this movie or hate it, it looks like it was direct footage of a dream.

  • What the fuck was this film about

  • @WKaliberr life

  • unusual

  • anyone who claims to understand this movie and rave about its artistic merit is just trying to seem intelligent lol, this movie's a snorefest and a waste of money

  • @joeshmoe005 since you use the word "snorefest", you are probsbly 12 and i don't trust your judgement.

  • @XxTRJR2123xX yes and judging by your poor spelling and incorrect grammar, you are probably mentally impaired, so i don't trust your judgement

  • @joeshmoe005 they're called typo's and my grammar is actually correct.

  • @XxTRJR2123xX

    *typos

  • @joeshmoe005 i understand this movie and think it has great artistic merit. =P

  • @joeshmoe005 I think ur just upset because u didn't get it, but it's okay if u didn't get it. I personally enjoyed the film and felt enlightened afterwards. However im not trying to prove my level of intelligence to the world... in fact i think ur trying to prove how much of a smart ass u are by claiming u know much more than this film...

  • THE BEST MOVIE EVER !!!

  • @MrJamboy86 Very bad movie is SHET

  • my brother literally fell asleep at this movie... very boring but beautiful imagery. but unfortunately, it's one of those artistically abstract movies where you're just like WTF zzzzz

  • These artistic movies make me want to scratch my eyes out...

  • @chupitaplease check out the movie 'sky crawlers' from japan. it will have you committing hari kiri!

  • WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST WATCH

  • I felt like I truly wasted my money after watching this

  • Pure masterpiece. Malick makes cinema an true art.

  • Pretty confusing movie, goes from the 1950s to dinosaurs, I guess it had to do with the significance of life on earth.

  • BAD BAD BAD BAD MOVIE!!! didn't get a shit about the moviee

  • The most deserving film of the oscars

  • @earlyatnite dont be stupid why does the weird movies deserve to win

  • @earlyatnite couldn't agree with you more, at least cinematography

  • okay... what?!

  • An infuriating personification of human tyranny and megalomania...

  • Spicoli

  • Movie summary: Brad Pitt being awesome + watching National Geographic in HD

  • @warmaker911 hm...not really...

  • great art always divides people and evokes strong opinions. most thought picasso was nuts

  • OSCAR BAIT!
