14 years earlier predicted what would happen to the TiTanic and 14 years later it happened so it seems it was like its script was already written and it was played out to a T
@Pallina610 Non era il Titanic ma l'Olimpic...una sostituzione preordinata per via dell'inmensa assicurazione... La invito a cercare in Google 'Theory of Titanic scam'.
i learned something about hypothermia, if you are in a shipwreck that gives you a chance, grab some booze and start drinking as much as possible. the only guy that survived the water after having been in it longer than all the others had drank two or three bottles of liquor. its in the official records. it made his body warmer , and he survived the cold water.he probably was sort of numb from liquor to have the terrible pain from cold water like the rest of the poor souls.
@bettygoodbody thats utter rubbish! Alcohol is a vasodilator which means it dilates blood vessels allowing blood to flow much quicker. When your blood vessels expand, blood (the primary heat source of the homeostatic conditions of your body) rushes to the surface and in cold weather it dissipates into the air. If you drink, you lose heat more quickly and are susteptable to hypothermia! Dont give dumb advice unless you have a clue what you're talking about!
@SyntheticDeejay1 In case you never knew, I believe it was Chief Baker Charles Joughin who had lasted two hours in the freezing water before being rescued. He was supposedly drunk from drinking so much alcohol and he got drunk.
@SyntheticDeejay1 Search it up before accusing people of being stupid, you're simply making yourself look like a fool. The chief baker survived in those freezing waters and he was pretty darn drunk. Perhaps the alcohol made him feel like he was warm and had a psychological effect that helped him to survive? I don't know how but it is well documented. Search it on Google and see for yourself.
@03cryptic What yr saying could happen physically no matter what Dr.SynthDeedj said. At extremely high levels alcohol goes from a vasodialator to a constrictor which would have effected his ability to retain heat. So throw that back to the know it all. Maybe he won't look so ignorant if he does some research, too bad he will still be a rude jerk.
I had a great great grand aunt who survived. She was 16. I have seen her entry on the ship manifesto. She returned to Ireland many years later and lived in Ireland. A happier story.
Again, TItanic turned and stopped perfectly adequately - see the article "Two Points In Thirty Seven Seconds" for the details - it always bugs me when "shocking" documentaries claiming new facts don't do their reserch properly.
Because of the three proppler design the ship turned to slow to the left when it came upon the iceberg. The officer gave the wrong command "Hardastarbard", which ultimately doomed the ship
@davinp thats not true....the simple fact was that the ship was too close to the iceberg to do anything about it. It had nothing to do with how many propellers the ship had. Hard a starboard will swing the ships stern to starboard, effectively swinging the bow to the port side. This was the right command. Even if the ship had struck the berg full on, theres no guarantee she would have stayed afloat. Simple matter of fact, the ship was doomed, no matter how you sliced the cake.
Nice to see the myth about the hull number has come up yet again - 406063. Anyone who's done their research properly would realise the number was actually 401 (Olympic was hull number 400 and Britannic 433).
@MDkid1 I'm certain it is a myth. I have the Eaton and Hass book and they are wrong. Titanic's hull number was 401. Even the most amateur of Titanic enthusiasts will know that.
@PaulRoberts What you are referring to is the hull (yard) number which is 401, not the ship hull number itself which is 390904 (NO POPE)....page 18 of Destination Disaster, and List of Ship Particulars Index in Titanic: The Ship Magnificent, vol 1.
@MDkid1 Well, that's quite interesting, certainly disputes a lot of previous claims and the website itself seems credible enough. Instead of continuing this debate now, I think indulging in some further research and adding a more fully rounded conclusion to the debate is the sensible approach.
Wow, I just check out Wikipedia's (French) page on the book «Futility» (1898) by Morgan Robertson. The similarities between Titan and Titanic are surprising, to say the least! You'd really think it was based on the catastrophe of 1912. You get the trippy feeling the reverse is true..unless the designer of Titanic had the unlikely, warped idea of finding inspiration in the design of a doomed fictional ship!
Another Vanderbilt Alfred Vanderbilt also cancelled in the last moments to go on Titanic but a few years latter He would be killed when he was on Lusitania when she was sunk by a U-boat.
Triple screws weren't new at the time. Many other ships used three screws, but some larger vessels only used TWO. The idea that the Olympic class was clumsy because of only having three is foolish. Olympic, while serving as a troopship in WWI was able to manuever perfectly fine, avoiding a U-Boat attack, and even sinking the U-Boat.
The "No Pope" myth is easily debunked. Titanic's hull number was actually 401. That's the only number that was stamped anywhere on the ship itself.
