I am using gimp and blender in both XP32 and kubuntu32. I'm kind of 'matching' the performance in both OSs
I didn't notice a blender difference, but gimp works better in kubuntu
I believe in those softwares, but I fell something is wrong. cause photoshop does faster than gimp and 3dsmax does faster than blender doing the same things (in the SAME machine) I wonder if there's a kind of 'lock'to be released somewhere in some setting (like ram and cpu priorities)
blender probably runs around as fast on linux as windows, however when you start using a lot of ram (over 2gig), I think 64bit blender on linux still wins.
Gimp is better on linux from my experience.
As for 3dsMax running faster, the speed difference probably depends on each feature. I know blender raytracing is not that good, but its being re-written currently. 3DS Guys also have an advantage that they only support 1 OS and can optimize for that more.
yea the blender that you can download in its web site, in fact there is some version more capables like custom builds from users that are adding new features
This was very inspirational to have candid behind the scenes interviews of WIPs on YouTube. Gives a real in studio feel...and a bit of companionship for us lone basement rigtechs. Thanks.
Yeah, I've got it on pre-order too. Can't wait to see how it all works!
Hopefully future versions of Blender will reduce the amount of "crazy math" calculations needed to do such rigs. That sort of stuff isn't my strong point.
Amazing rigging, looks like allot of fun :D
