wherever X goes they'll be presented as "one of the greatest metal bands in the world from the early 80's"

because of that, if X-Japan came to America in their current state they wouldn't be popular because of their current setlist, half of which contains ballads, and then crap like I.V and Jade (sad), X only actually play three or four good metal songs now.

And America has proper metals fans who actually respect the genre and skill of metal so X would not be accpected as they are now.

altough X were formed in 1982, the original line up was only formed in 1987, and they got recognition right after Blue Blood in 1989.

As for their quality, X were always on top form right till the end of the band, now they reformed, and are doing things slowly, so you can't ask for them to play their faster and harder songs like it is easy, as for the quality of IV and Jade, I won't argue, i like the songs, but its a matter of taste.

I think they still do a good job with their faster/harder stuff when they play it.....they've just got a large library of songs and many hits that they must consistently work into their concerts these days, and not all of them are speed metal.

As for their new stuff....I dunno, it doesn't really even sound like X anymore....sad....I miss Hide's influence on the band.

Well they still deliver the mission live, that's for sure.

As for hide's influence, well its true that he had a creative vision diferent from the rest of the band, but times change they are in their 40's now, their music style changes too, the good old times shown in this vid won't come back, but i'm sure they'll make some interesting work on their next studio songs. (hope they do it soon)

During the early 1990s when X was becoming really popular in Japan,the buying public in the USA was being force fed a bunch of horrible corporate "grunge" rock bands. It would be impossible to market a band like X Japan in the US. There are too many niche genres with unwritten rules in regard to sound,imagery and overall fashion. The fundamental problem with the music industry in the USA is that the majority of music listeners are incredibly fickle. This is why a band like X is hopeless here.
