Don't get me wrong, i mean i'm happy they retired her because she had a beautiful career and i don''t want her to be injured. I will never trashtalk Zenyatta :)
But the pressure and crazyness on her got higher and higher. I don't want her to end up like Ruffian.
That's all i mean with it, i can understand why you thought differently. Peace!

The 6 ran a HUGE race here vs Z. HUGE!....That is the most trouble(besides St Trinians) a horse has given her, and again she is Hand ridden by Mike. Wonderful Mare.
It was the "Mostest" day of my life, to see her in person, running and crossing the line first, I was so blessed by God and the Sherriffs Family to be able to see her ...
Examine the males that Rachel beat in her 3 races against colts. Then examine how the colt's in the 09' Classic have continued to race in 2010, and it's laughable. Rip Van Winkle-Won the G1 Juddmonte International, 2nd-G1Sussex Stakes. Twice Over-Won the G1 Coral-Eclipse, 2nd G1Prince of Wales and G1 Juddmonte International. Awesome Gem-Won the G1 Hollywood Gold Cup. Gio Ponti-Won the G1 Man O' War Stakes, 2nd G1 Arlington Million. Where's Macho Again and Bullsbay these days? The defense rest!!
@queenluciaa are you refering to Zenyatta and the 2009 BCC? If so, I don't believe it was mainly a 'bunch" of turf horses-it was actually a rather diverse mix of dirt, turf and synthetic. It also has that year's Kentucky Derby winner & Belmont Winner, the only Triple Crown race missing was the Preakness winner- RA. Thanks.
Sure, it was on her favorite track on synthetic. Shocker! Mostly turf-horses. Props for her though beating Summer Bird though, he was a nice horse. But the thing that bugs me is. That is 1 race. Rachel Alexandra is 4 [2 years Younger] and has raced 3 times against the boys. My point im trying to tell is, Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta are the top of their class. Rachel being the best filly, and Zenyatta being the best mare.
@queenluciaa I respect your opinion, but if you look at the horses and their surface history I don't believe it was a mainly turf field. and every horse will have a "favorite field"-for ex. I've heard RA loves Churchhill Downs, so if she won people could say well that was her favorite track. As, for surface I believe synthetic is more consistent that dirt so one could argue that-every track is different and different from race to race. And you are right they are different horses. Thanks.
Actually according to Santa-Anita pro-ride's results are fading. More and more accidents are happening on the plastic. Rumours say they are going to rip their plastic track up. I personally dislike it, but who am I to disregard you for having an opinion? Conventional dirt is the way to go. Afterall the most brilliant runners of all time only had one choice. Dirt.
@queenluciaa I wasn't actually refering to accident stats, but thank you for respecting my opinion. I was referring more to the "state" of the track (fast, slow, wet, hard, different mixes of "dirt" etc) I think there was actually an article pointing out the difference that a dirt track will have if it rains when they switch it out but want to have a surface that horses and people respect. I also wonder if dirt is SO great then why is it America's main/favorite while most other places it is not.
Actually...people have doubted Goldikova. Said she wouldn't win against Zenyatta like it was already sealed in cement, pretty cocky if you ask me. Same with Bambera too.
I suggest to everyone to read Steve Haskin's recent article about Zenyatta. He tells it exactly how I feel. For anyone out in the East, just pray she makes it to the BCC and savor witnessing her career finale. The 2010 BC Classic will be one of the most emotionally-driven races we may ever see in our lifetime. Epic and for all the marbles. The perfect Hollywood ending under the Twin Spires.
@sweetepnoy Couldn't agree more. I am praying for the rain to stay away from Churchill Downs in early November as I feel sure Shirreffs won't run Zenyatta on a wet track. I can't think of a more epic race that this BCC for Zenyatta. Win and she will move from 'one of the greatest race mares ever' to 'one of the best racehorses ever'. It is folly to say she would've beaten Secretariat/Spec Bid etc as comparing eras is impossible. What we can say is if she goes 20-0 with 3 BC wins=an equine deity
GBeret, I know exactly what you mean! Z tends to create a double standard. It comes from the same folks who whine she didn't race East. Yet, nobody in Cali is mad at Rachel for not racing here. Or if horses like Easy Goer never ran in CA, and Sunday Silence had to go East to defeat him 3x. But with Z, people find a way to complain...
Goldikova was trying for a record 11 G1 win's today in Deauville, France. But both her and Paco Boy were cut down by English 2000 Guineas winner, Makfi in the Prix Jacques Le Mario. Goldikova is 19-13-3-2 lifetime. 16-11-2-2 in lifetime Stakes. She's also a 2-time Breeders Cup Mile (Turf) winner. Yet no one questions Goldikova's greatness for a second. Zenyatta is 18-18-0-0 lifetime. 16-16-0-0 lifetime Stakes. A 2-time Breeders Cup world champion in both Classic divisions. Still unbelievers. LOL
Chances are it will a century until another horse comes along who can win 12 g1's and remain undefeated doing so. I couldn't care about the nay sayers comments......I am too busy appreciating this 'immortal' mare. Racing historians in the 22nd century will refer to her in a similar way to Kincsem when setting benchmarks for racehorse performance. I just hope they document the unique personality traits of Zenyatta as well! Her legend has spread around the globe
@109367 YEah she's toying here, to the wire. That vanity stakes was amazing, though. St Trinians ran her heart out and would have held off most horses or pulled away. Zenyatta kicked in another gear with about an 1/8th to go and ran St. TRinians. An amazing race that one was.
Zen's amazing win streak is unbelievable, especially when you consider a $2 win parlay on her 18 stragiht wins is now $27,000. Zen detractors: Take that to the bank. Money talks.
I was there witnessing this race in Del Mar yesterday. All the fans were crazy about her. Amazing horse! Her Beyer is never high like Rachel Alexandra or Quality Road but she always get her job done. She just steps up when needed. She may not even like the Del Mar track that much and still gives the same outcome.
@kleinbogen Beyers numbers are pretty useless when it comes to telling you anything about Zenyatta. One of the most glorious things about the BC was watching the numbers guys get hosed in the Classic. :)
This mare just AMAZES me. I mean look at 6:02, it looks as though she is talking to her fans!!! Like she's thanking them for coming, bowing her head, dancing, she gives you your money's worth. I traveled down to Del Mar to see her today, and boy was it ever worth it!! What a thrill to behold!!! Am so glad I went to Del Mar, and it was my first time there, so memorable!! "Undoubtedly now the greatest horse on the PLANET!!" Ain't it the truth!!!! I get goosebumps every time I see her too!!
Europe is making quite a deal out of Goldikova just recently having won her 10th G1 race of her career. Well, I think America has just as much to brag about with Zenyatta. Today's victory gives Zenyatta 12 G1 wins in her career. 2 of them, Breeders Cup wins in both Classic divisions. She also has 4 G2 wins. 1 Allowance win, and 1 Maiden Special Weight win. This mare just has so many gears. I've never seen another horse, male or female, able to go as wide as Zenyatta does, and still win. Superb!!
@GBeret83 I love reading your post:) Hows it goin'?In my opinion...Anything over a mile on any surface Zenyatta would dust RA or Goldikova...Who beat the most male horses isnt even a factor..How fast Zenyatta runs is simply based on how good the horse is shes closing on. Zenyatta has been toying with everything shes raced against.."including the breeders cup races"Her Daddy is Street Cry and her Mom is Kris S Mare. I believe Zen would leave grass chunks in Goldikovas face if they had a turf war.
With Zenyatta being a deep closer. She's never going to win any race by much. But yet, she's never lost a race. I'm convinced she'll end her career that way as well. Quality Road and Blame both have more conventional dirt experience. But neither of them have ever won beyond 9 furlongs. That's the advantage Zenyatta has on both. She run's dirt well enough. As we've seen at Oaklawn. The further the distance, the better for Zenyatta. She'll be too much for both Blame and Q.R. at 1-1/4. IMO.
@GBeret83 The distance and the loooooooong Churchill stretch is right up her alley. Also, I believe that last year, she trained quite well over the surface. It will present no problems for her. The only problem I can see for her would be an off-track. I'm not at all sure they'd run her over one.
The Irish mare Rinterval is certainly no easy mark. Nor is Princess Taylor. Rinterval ran 2nd to the fine European mare, Lush Lashes, in the Hotel Goff Millions Stakes at the Curragh in Ireland. She also was just recently 2nd to Informed Decision in the Chicago Handicap at Arlington. Princess Taylor was 2nd to Barshiba in the Plantation Stud Stakes-Fillies at Newmarket. Barshiba is a 2-time Lancashire Oaks winner. She was also 2nd in the Warwickshire Oaks Stakes. Very good competition today.
As always, I appreciate you posting these races so quickly. I saw the race on TV, but had to leave for a concert literally right after she crossed the finish line, so I didn't get to see any of the other stuff afterwards. Zenyatta is absolutely sensational. And track announcer Trevor Denman? Well, he ain't so bad, neitha!
Good thing, they retired her.
