Most of the .400 averages were pre 1930 I think players are faster getting to more balls than they used to, outfielders gloves got a hell of a lot bigger and in general players arms are stronger on the infield. Turf and field conditions are better now for less crazy hops and what not on the dirt parts too.

I hope all of you haters know this mans stroy. he was in high school when he met his wife. she was a couple years older than him and she had a baby, and the baby has down syndrome. so he left high school to help her raise the baby and take care of the baby and he got 2 jobs and she had 3 jobs and when he came to this country he spoke not 1 word of english and he has a foundation to help kids with down syndrome. He threw away his life for the woman he loved. He IS the best player in baseball.

Im from St. Louis and Ive watched albert since 2001 when he was a rookie. People just see albert as a solid hitter and he is, but what many people dont realize is that his glove is also one of the best on the field! He used to play outfield and was just as dominate there but he was moved to first base because of injuries. Go Albert!

Pujols has played 8 years and put up numbers that exceed those enjoyed by Joe DiMaggio, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, and even Ted Williams. That is impressive. There is no argument that Albert Pujols is the most consistent player of all time so far in his career...A-Rod may have more homers at the end of his career, but Alberts all around numbers will be the greatest of all time

There's no question that Pujols will get to 500 homeruns. I think he might even have a chance to surpass A-rod as the youngest ever to hit 500, but it all depends. This year he hit 37 homeruns, if he can go a little higher the next 3 seasons or so he will no doubt have a shot. Last year A-rod hit 54 homeruns, but this year he hit only 35, less than Pujols.

The thing is...What Albert lacks in homerun numbers to A-Rod, he more than makes up with his average. Albert adjusts to his injuries and physical condition better than anyone I have ever seen. If his hurting, his smacks base hits all around the field. When hes feeling good, he crushes the ball over the fence to all fields. No doubt, at this point in time, A-Rod and Albert are hands down, the two best players in the league, and when both their careers are over, they will both be the best ever.

I am a diehard New York Met fan (unfortunately for me) but my favorite player in MLB is prince Albert... he deserves the MVP this season 2nd in batting average, 36 homers, 114 rbi, 2nd in obp, 1st in slugging and 1st in ops he clearly deserves it more than Howard or Delgado (even though I am a met fan and he is puerto rican like me)... and for those saying that A-ROD is better than Pujols... since entering the league in 2001 Albert has much better stats than Alex
