  • I knew everything, they are not little known tips! They are even in the intablet manual

  • this guy sucks soooo badly

  • you suck soooo badly, reviewer

  • you suck sooooooooo badly, reviewer

  • lol this dude aint know shit about how to work this tablet

    terrible video

  • Nice little video. I like the snapshot of the screen trick, will definitely use that in the future. Also the shut down off of the battery icon, believe it or not, I noticed it when I clicked the battery, but when it came time to shut down, completely forgot. Only had mine for a day, so it was helpful THANKS

  • For those of you saying it won't record while you're in another app, it does, you just have to change the multitask settings to showcase and all the apps will play live.

  • This tablet is an impressive beast! Unfortunately underrated and under the radar for most.

  • That was a waste of time. I have had my playbook for 2 months and have learned nothing new from this video

  • @chellebff2008 well then its for other who havent as yet then geez

  • Here's a little tip for you. Don't say "5 things you didn't know" if they're tips most people know.. You didn't tell me anything new at all. Plus you know nothing about iPhones. the "circle button" is not the power button, it is the home button. And the "top button" is the sleep/wake button. If you want to do electronics videos, know your stuff.

  • How do I delete a file I've downloaded without connecting to a PC?

  • nice..

  • What amazing features, screenshots, a keyboard, a camera, closing apps. What will they ever think of next? Why not.....get a galaxy tab?

  • Liar!!! Look at 2:27 he didnt even start the camera!!!

  • Everyone knows that!

  • Def worth buying, can do so much more then the i pad-ie going and streaming any website u want

  • fuk im disappointed with this crap , not worth 199$ ;(

  • @2secondman you sir need an ipad and stop complaining and spend tht 600$ ;)

  • It doesn't continue to record when you open a browser window to full size. You went back to it and it was stopped for you too but you pushed record again. EPIC FAIL!

  • @deanobrown It works if you have the apps in showcase mode

  • @deanobrown

Dude get your facts straight first, He has his playbook application behavior set to default which means the application stays active in the background until another application goes fullscreen. If he set it on Showcase , this enables all applications to stay active and they never pause in the background. So the playbook DOES have awesome multitasking like this person was saying. If your an apple fan than please go away and stop stalking these vids because u know nothing!

  • @deanobrown you need to change your application behavior to showcase in the general settings menu before you can do that.

  • @deanobrown You can change this in the settings,Zzzzzz..

  • @deanobrown He forgot to put his playbook in "showcase mode" in settings (settings>general>application behavior) but it does continue to record if you have that on.

  • @deanobrown - it does record ... even wen u do smt else ...

  • this is definitely the one tablet that levels it out against the iPad

  • thanks man

  • Four out of five new to me, thanks.

If you want lots of apps and a bigger screen, buy an iPad.

If you want a more natural screen ratio, multi-tasking and to pay about half as much, buy a Playbook.

  • Thanks for these great tips. With this new found knowledge I will surely gain the confidence to get all the girls :)

  • @SuperStevenHarper BAHAHAHA!

  • ok... I have a playbook and... well... I figured all those out within the first week. Most of them in the first day. When I saw this video I watched it because I thought that it would show me something I didn't know. But instead, I know something that this guy didn't know. When you're in an app, drag your finger from the top left corner ( or top right) across the screen... try it. It's cool.

  • this..didnt help me at all

  • very useful tips, thank u.

  • for the playbook, can you record a video then stop it, then restart at the same time that you left off at?

  • thanks, i like the shut down without using hardware button

  • Great video Mark. Blackberry has been so underated by those who are clueless of technologie. RIM is much further ahead from a hardware standpoint. What has kept Apple going is the app movement. RIM has most of what a professional and amateur needs. I don't need a "f@rt" app... Thanks for the tips.

  • Thanks for the great quick tips!

  • very nice demo bro, Mine will arrive in the mail next week, cant wait to show my video production work on it, Peace.

  • Great Tips! Excellent presentation.

  • Safe

  • are you from jersey shore great video btw

  • do they come in white ? how much u got it for ?

  • @2010gameguy: Thanks for your review. It is super super helpful. I just picked it up from the store yesterday. However, when I listen to the music, I can only hear the sound from the right speaker, but not from the left. I am worried that my left speaker is dead. Do your 2 speakers have sound? Since when let my ear be close to the right, it is very loud. When my ears are close to the left, I dont have a feeling of such strong sound as the right one...Can you tell me please! Thanks anyway!

  • I might also add that rather than putting the device to sleep manually, just leave it. It goes to sleep in a minute and you really didnt waste much battery in the mean time. I use the soft button too, I'm just not so particular about it if im just throwing it down on my coffee table.

  • I bought one off of walmart.com!! I got a 32 gig last week! For 298.99

  • @KittyChickenGaming yeah same! I ordered mine, such an awesome deal :)

  • I love how when you're done with an app you can just cast it away into oblivion. BE GONE FROM MY SIGHTS FOUL APPLICATION.

  • i was wondering how i got those pics from the movie. Great playbook. power button sucks and so does volume control. Somebody should get fired for that. Thanks for the tip Mark on turning it off.

  • Super man ...

  • Bought one for my daughter at Best Buy, in the U.S. last Monday...4 days b4 black Friday. Wasn't a sale price, it was a price drop. Probably getting ready for the newer 4g version to hit stores.

  • @bobbie1st For $199.....oops :)

  • @bobbie1st No, it's a sale price. Most stores are ending the $300 off promo this week and it's going back to the regular price.

  • i just ordered mine from Blackberry website because they are all sold-out in stores, Got mine for only $189 (plus taxes)! Can't wait!

  • im getting this for xmas so i can bridge to my BB curve 8900 os5.0 and because its smaller than the ipad

  • So in conclusion, here are my 5 little known "tips". 1) When you walk in the store looking for a tablet, pick up the Blackberry Playbook. 2) Put it back down 3) Take a couple steps to either your right or left 4) pick up another tablet that costs over $200 5) Thank me once you get home. I just saved you from a huge mistake.

  • Good video!

  • very good vid man...

  • can you go on netflix via web browser?

  • @To0IcY Unfortunately no. Your browser needs to run Silverlight to do that.

  • TO CONTINUE, Anything useful on appworld requires you to pay. lol thankfully the android compatability will make this device more useful. And no BBM or EMAIL?!!!!! NO EMAIL?!!!! lolololol RIM has got to get with it! who wants to open a browser to check their email? lol and why give us a PIN if you're not giving us BBM?! I must say that the device is smooth, the screen is pretty good and the build quality is great Its nice and heavy and doesnt feel cheap. Welcome to 2011 RIM....well almost

  • @djnikel are u required to buy a data plan? also, does gps work without wifi?

  • @kumar525 lol as far as I know and I searched. There's no real stand alone GPS. Everything I read says you either have to have an internet connection or be "bridged" with your mobile for """GPS""" to work. I tried BING maps with wifi on and it didnt work. It just seems like this is a half assed attempt at a tablet. I might return mine and TRY to get the $200 Acer on blackfriday at bestbuy....having REAL android seems so much better.

  • @djnikel What are you talking about? You just need to bridge it with your phone to get BBM and Email running on the PlayBook. It works beautifully.

  • @shuabert LOL!!!!!! KEYWORDS: BRIDGE, PHONE. People pay $500+ for this (regular retail price) so they HAVE TO bridge?!!!!! Whoever thinks this """tablet""" is great is in his/her own world. ANY tablet I buy today will allow me to AT LEAST get email without being BRIDGED!!!! Wifi is there for a reason. This is a joke and an embarrassment to RIM. I thought BB people were smarter than this. You guys have to wake up, honestly. Just cause RIM puts it out doesn't mean it's great. CON'T

  • @EVERYONE For a few days now, the ""tablet"" has shut itself off and won't power on. (battery is not dead) I honestly had high hopes for this piece of $hit but its just a shame. I ended up picking up an ASUS Transformer 10 inch on black friday for $250. That is the definition of a tablet. It even has a MICROSD slot???!!! whaat??? unheard of huh.. and skype? whats that? free apps? im so confused. a power button that isn't impossible to push? no way! youtube?? Its a sin to compare the two.

  • To answer peoples questions. @kennethgabriel no need to wait for BF its been on sale at bestbuy USA for a couple days now I picked up 4 but goodluck! @svcruz yes it can play avi's @ Moosehead, yes wifi works regardless. NOW....please don't compare this to an ipad. I hate apple products/people but THIS THING LACKS APPS!!!!! I went from a BB to an android 2 years back and this brought back bad memories. Thankfully I upgraded the 2.0beta and am now using android apps. I mean jesus RIM!!!

  • Very informative. I'm getting the Playbook on Black Friday and can't wait to try those things out. Great Tips!

  • can the playbook play avi like divx/xvid and or mkv or x264

  • Does wi-fi work without a data plan?

  • @MooseheadDrinker Of course. That's kind of the point.

  • @shuabert but blackberry phones' wifi doesn't work without a data plan...

  • @MooseheadDrinker I have no idea, but when I go to the US my carrier tells me to turn off the data and just use the WiFi so I don't get charged data fees, so I doubt that's true. As for the Playbook, there is no 3G option, it's wifi only, like a laptop. So yeah, you just connect to the wifi network wherever you are, no data plan.

  • @shuabert Well sounds like you have a data plan so wi-fi will work for you!

  • @MooseheadDrinker On my phone, yes, but what I'm saying is that the Playbook doesn't have a data plan option, because it's wifi only. Just like you can't buy a data plan for your laptop, you can't buy a data plan for your Playbook. Wifi works just fine anywhere you're in a wifi-enabled zone. No data plan needed.

The advantage is that if you DO have a BB phone, you can use that as a router and get internet connectivity on your Playbook in areas where there is no wifi available.

    Make sense?

  • These are going on sale at Walmart Canada, Best Buy Canada, Staple Canada and Future Shop again Canada... From Nov 18/11 to Dec 1/11

    16gb for 199

    32gb for 299

    64gb for399

US people can probably buy them online at futureshop.ca or bestbuy.ca for those prices.. but I imagine that there will be similar sales in the US on Blackfriday

  • @regnaston i got lucky and grabbed a 32gb for 299$

  • @regnaston

Really had to act fast. I didn't get out til 2pm or so and they were completely sold out at 2 futureshop locations except for 6 open box 64gb at one store. Don't assume that if futureshop(store systems) in-store inventory levels show remaining stock that there will be some avail. Wasted time and parking $ for nothing. I finally got one at Staples but they only had 64gb which was perfect bcuz it's what I wanted. Also sold out of all but 64gb.People hoarded obviously to resell.

  • You should have added to your last point that you can power up the device by swiping bezel to bezel.

  • Oh hey cineplex guy.

  • thanks for wha...

  • :D i want one so bad

  • Nice vid! Can you turn the Playbook on by swiping up?

  • @DigitalDestined Yup. It took me a while to figure it out, but all you have to is swipe from the bottom bezel up to the top bezel and it will bring the device to life.

  • Ipad? No thanks, i'm not an iDiot. Yes, i like the word iDiot

  • @alucardme87 Yes, I agree. Why would I want to keep my iPad when I could get a tablet with a much smaller screen? Squinting is sooo underrated! I hate my iPad, I don't get to do that cool power off feature through the software, I actually have to hit the physical power off button. You know, sometimes, too much convenience makes us lazy. Isn't that what all us "Apple-heads" are, lazy, 'cause we don't like "FIXING" things?? And the whole slower....

  • @tonytube27 don't like fixing things, please. my parents went through two imac g5, both died from the same crap power supply. so what do they do, buy another imac. then my brother gets a macbook pro and the battery busts a cell before the warranty expires, so at least. but now, less than two years after he gets it, it's dead. and the part to fix it is $700. so what do my parents do, buy another macbook pro... i'm happy with my pc that i got to put together myself that actually does 'just work'.

  • @alucardme87 ....web page loading thing that CNet showed when they compared the Playbook to the iPad. That's just ridiculous. Who cares about faster loading times? Not me, I have ALL day. In actuality, I will admit, the Playbook is not THAT much slower, but it is and it should be mentioned because for some people, loading speed is everything. Not for me, but for many people and it should be noted! I have both (will be returning the Playbook to Best Buy), and will admit the playbook...

  • hi gameguy, thanks for the tips. i just think you should have added the swipe in from upper right corner or upper left corner towards the screen. if you are for example watching a video or running any app in full screen, this swipe will allow you to see the battery, notifications, time, etc. the swipe will move the whole screen a few millimeters downward thus allowing to see the top part of the home screen.

  • good stuff. Just got my blackbook

  • cool tips

  • Thank's for the tips.

  • im glad you mentioned the longer power button. ive had 2 playbooks and i could swear the later one had a different power button.

  • didnt know the first one, thanks!

  • Pretty useful tips

  • every playbook owner knows these comon things... not very new information

  • @uncut02 I didn't know about the screenshot feature or the keyboard shortcut.
