@TheMai67 its not impossible dude. thats how it is meant to be played. thats how james hetfield plays it. check any really good covers here on youtube and they downpick it. it just takes practice.

@tallicaboy100 umm...yes you can play a song inorrectly. im not being mean, im just giving constructive criticism. 95% of metallica songs are downpicked almost the whole way through. watch videos of hetfield.
@cw5394 i know metallica dude, ive seen them a 1000 times live.. but there's nothing wrong with playing alternate even if they play it down picked. i cant play master of puppets downpicked anymore cause i had a broken wrist a couple of years ago, i just don't have ythe strenght anymore and now i play it alternate and it sounds pretty much the same, its maybe not that cool but its a good alternative.. blackened i can play both ways and it sounds good both ways.
no downpicking = your doing it wrong.
