There is a possible explanation why they collect both recycable and refuse, because they might empty the truck at a MRF (Materials Recovery Facility), which maybe be able to sort out the rubbish and recycables with hi tech machinery. Or ditch Cleanaway for a proper recycling company!.
This sort of thing can happen all the way along the chain from collection to bulking depot to final destination (UK or even Far East landfill in too many cases). I'm glad these guys have done it in broad daylight on camera, please make a fuss. I've been in recycling industry for 18 years in the not-for-profit sector and we don't do this - we process nearly 80 tonnes a week of recyclate at my depot and the only rubbish created goes in a single wheelybin.
