  • the controlers on the second version i have are worse than the first gen as the get older they will . but the game play is better than atari and it is a better system all together. the controls take some getting used to thats all. there was a joystic add on avalible...

  • The control is bad, that is what makes the game crappy. This is one time where the Atari 2600 is better.

  • @dallase1 Actually, Astroblast was better than Astrosmash on the 2600. They are essentially the same game (both made by Mattel), but the Atari version was faster and allowed the use of the paddle controlers (something that was impossible on the Intellivision).

  • @jalopysandwich

How can the Atari version be better then the Intellivision version when the Intellivision version has way better graphics then Atari.

  • @dallase1 The Intellivision Astrosmash graphics are only marginally better and it does have explosion effects which are missing in the Atari version. But the better gameplay and control mechanism make Astroblast a better playing experience - which is what a video game is more about.

  • @dallase1 i'd say the atari version is far superiour, yes the intellivision technicaly is superiour, but this looks very ugly, dosent play as well and dosent give you the same arcade feel.

this just looks like a hundred generic bad racers from the early 8 bit era and nothing that really says, pole position to me.

  • Are the controls as bad as they say? Or does this game just get a bad rap?
