Good to hear and see you again. Do you still work with your old violin Teacher, the Violin sounds great and your looking and sounding very professional.
hey Caeli, you're a fabulous violinist, and from your vlogs and channel you seem like such a grounded, intelligent and focused person as well. are you going to Juilliard next fall? i also play violin and will be studying performance next year at a university. best of luck, i know you'll go far!!
Alice, any more word about the Youtube Symphony Orchestra? Was it just a one shot deal and will not regroup? It would be nice if it was a regular and renewable event with you included. Still train riding thru Jersey to NY?
Hi - I haven't heard any news about the YTSO getting back together for a second performance. Thank you for the kind comment. Yes, I am still making that commute!
@DoninWhiting I just saw your comment again, 9 months later-- yes, the YTSO did announce a new performance, in Marcy 2011 in Sydney, Australia. I auditioned and made it into the finals. Voting period ended December 17th and we will hear the results around January 6th!
What does polyphony have to do with tone? Bach is one of the great masters of polyphonic music, that's why the solo works for violin are so hard to play (and important to study). You cannot disguise anything when playing bach. Thats why its so challenging and exciting to study. Btw, I have no idea what my subscriptions have to do with my opinion on classical music? Just because I like Japanese music as well as classical music as well as alternative music I'm creepy?
for a violin, polyphony has a LOT to do with the tone, considering it's impossible to hit 4 and nearly impossible for 3, though she was rolling ... you're still not taking into consideration the difficulty of the fingering of this piece. (4 note "chords")
and for the record, it's not the type of music you're subscribed to ... it's that 90% of your subscriptions are very young or young-looking girls... whatever floats your boat i guess.

Dont think this is your best playing. Its off tune, you press way too hard on your bow, and your bowing itself is not fluent enough. The overall sound is harsh and rough, not delicate and sophisticated as I would imagine Bach to sound. I would have expected more from someone attending Juilliard.
Absolutely dazzling.

It amazes and confounds me that you can play a piece like that from memory.

amazing performance and the fact that you performed a Bach fugue from memory is a difficult challenge in itself CONGRATS :D

Why do you think Bach has to be delicate? And please elaborate on "sophisticated".

@ModernRitual lol hate to break it to you but there are people with WAY less talent attending juilliard
