  • @borderraven, I don't think I would want methyl alcohol like "Yellow Heet" or any iso-alcohol in proximity to food. I would think denatured ethyl-alcohol would be acceptable, if in a leak proof container. What do you think?

  • alcohol will evaporate and ruin the food you packed along with it mate.Or it can even kill you from poisoning.Even on a cool storage place you shoul not mix any chemicals with food and I mean vacuum sealing them together. Keep the separated with distance from eachother nat all times.Happy storing.

  • I would have really liked you to use this on the video to show us how it all works!

  • I've been watching various homemade MRE videos for a bit... and this video inadvertantly reminded me (when I saw your fuel alcohol) that there's no reason I can't pack a small container with two shots or so of bourbon.

  • It's so simple..what a great tip. Thanks

  • The alcohol must be in a sealed container or the vacuum will cause it to boil and escape contaminating your food and destroying the alcohol. Keep poisons away from foods. If the alcohol is Bacardi 151 Rum, then enjoy the Snickers.

  • @em23 Great idea!

  • @ANoutdoorProduction

I have just a basic Seal A Meal. I bought it from Amazon. It was only $50.00 or so. Thanks for watching.

  • Thanks for the tip! I will give it a try when I make more MREs. Thanks for watching.

  • i don't know if you do this but also place a printer piece of paper, containing the expiration dates of each item to make it easier for you, inside your mre.
