I have come to realize how I am the only student at my school that still listens to 650 AM: WSM! Much less the only one who even knows exists! While others are listening to rap, I'm listening to Porter Wagoner on "The Legend"... the station that started the Opry. What is this world coming to?
Thanks for posting this! My Father Arlie Duff wrote and recorded this song. It has been recorded by Bing Crosby, Glenn Campbell, Dolly, Porter, and so many others. You have honored my Father by posting it, thank you so much. -Joey Duff
@scarplace It's made its mark ! I know a little 85 yrold Honky-Tonk,I mean little, that uses"ya'll come" for a theme song,to start the House Band, and closing song.
u have intriged me with your statement of indentity, any other tid bits that might further prove your related to probably the most important American family that has ever walked the plant? If it is true, what a responsiblity I would feel to have such a strong, tough, honest background in my blood to keep the old family traditions and stories alive for other generations and what guilt I would have if I failed to meet my anestors expectations.....
Anita was my grandmother. the reason my name is Carter Sister "4" is because grandma anita always referred to me as the fourth carter sister , so did auntie june and auntie helen. Anita's real name is Ina Anita Carter for anyone who didnt know
I love the Carters! I was just at the Carter Fold last summer, and we had a blast! It still is one place to hear good, country music like this. Faron is great too, so good looking.
I find it interesting that two people on here claim to be Duff children...but one spell's "their dad's" name Arlie and the other one spells it Arleigh? LOL !!!
Arleigh was the original spelling, he shortened it to Arlie when he recorded Y'All Come, (or the original "You All Come") Dad had nine children, so finding one or two posting isn't so odd, is it?
That's not Mother Maybelle, it's Becky Bowman. She would play with the Carter Sisters as a fill in in case one of them was sick or couldn't make a performance. Mother Maybelle is the woman who is in the green skirt standing next to June.
Anita usually played the upright bass. Becky Bowman would act as a standin for whatever instrument wasn't there. I think she could also play banjo, accordian and guitar.
Better times !!

I grew up in the late 50's watching the Cousin Herb Show out of Bakersfield with my granny each afternoon. "Y'all Come" was the theme song.

@scarplace No problem, my pleasure. It is a fantastic song. And one of my friend's favorite to boot. I especially enjoyed the version on I Love Lucy.
