What a coincidence. I thought the same thing myself, what with the crummy junk they've been airing -- and it'll be worse (NBC is prepping to air the graphically sexual "Playboy Club", complete with uncensored nudity during the Family Viewing Hour).
I've recently phoned up my local station (WWBT-TV 12) to politely urge them to preempt "The Playboy Club" and air family-friendly programming in its place.

I would have to say this was probably sometime between 1979-1981 just as the union of the peacock and the "N" logo was coming together.

Cool. Some TV stations always seemed to come up with something out-of-the-ordinary for their technical difficulties screens and this is no exception.
