Correction to my own reply: the number of the variety of drawings changed a lot. Not the variables ofcourse; only one was added. Nice website, very clear building instructions. Those examples are just like the ones I saw, back then. I noticed one detail in many different videos about Harmonographs: in most cases the weights are too small, too light, resulting in machines that stop swinging after just a few movements. Heavier weights give a better result. But more can be added. No problem.
@gonepishing .Still...very inspirational machine! I remember seeing one, over 25 years ago. I still have a few small drawings, somewhere. It was a small 2 axis machine. And with only a few changes you could create a vast range of figures. By changing the height of the weights (higher swing frequency) the number of variables increased enormously. This machine never gets boring. Once you start you can't stop discovering new figures. I want to build one, too. First from Lego. Later a wooden one.
@BAK3NATOR awesome, I gotta visit Newmarket soon, my co-worker knows hallsworth and stawsky
also, new project coming here soon: (I messaged you the link... youtube doesn't allow links here)
