  • hmm the bending of the blade is very odd but by the looks of it it's a hard metal right?

  • its soft steel

  • that was pretty good

  • great...tnx

  • well many have to suit what they learn to competitions. yea..it's rather sad..esp with the new rules. But i believe that they are many out there doing traditional stuff.

  • Is it standard that his bow stance is so wide?

  • i wish wushu was still the old way. its too acrobatic now. and it was originally a fighting art. but i dunno if they even tewach fighting techniques in the modern wushu. just acrobatics, stances, and flexibility. but thats not all wushu should be. I concidered it kung fu when i first saw it in a documentary, but that movie was made a LONG time ago, and wushu's changed. but its still enjoyable to watch.

  • Wushu doesn't claim to be what is it not--we know it is a sport. Personally I love contemporary wushu. If you want traditional stuff there is plenty of that out there.

  • wushu is not sport, it is martial art - wu= martial shu= art

  • @kfboi03 Wushu is the Chinese word for Kung Fu. The "It" you refer to is Shaolin Kung Fu (Northern). Contemporary Wushu is closer to dancing than fighting, but that's the beauty of it. No contemporary Wushu master is going to try to say otherwise. The combat applications have been stripped from the forms and moves changed to make it more beautiful. Remember too, Kung Fu is made to be beautiful - the ideas was to hide the application of the form as a dance to prevent onlookers from learning.
