But there wasn't, so Jesus said, "God, let your will be done, not mine." He chose to sacrifice himself for us, knowing the risk that not everyone would turn to him even if he did. But that was how much he loved us. He died for you even if you were the only person in the world that would choose him. That's how much he loves you.
Sin=our wrongs and mistakes. Everyone has sinned, and it seperates us from God. God cannot allow sin in Heaven, otherwise, Heaven will become just as messed up as the Earth! The only other place to go in the afterlife is Hell. So how can we be saved?

In the New Testament Christ talks about his people being like trees that bear fruit. This means not just keeping your faith all to yourself, rather bear God's love onto all those who are weak in faith and in this God will be most pleased. For a tree that does not bear fruit, is of no use to God, and too, will be cast into the fire!

I'd never had nightmares due to films, and never have since...... save for this one movie. Satan scared me s**tless. I saw this in theaters and that night I woke up in my bed; everything was dark and when I rolled over I saw those two little children with distorted faces, mashing their teeth at me-- that's when I woke up for real in a cold sweat. above all else, Jesus was a man. Like any of us, when faced with death, he asked to have the task taken away from him. He was mortal, he had his faults, but that doesn't stop many Catholics {myself included} and other Christians from believing that despite the lies spread about him and the church, the scandles and the various crap people like szuberi spew, nothing chages the simple fact that he died for our sins, everybodies.

@Blakaize The movie was based on the visions of Sr Catherine Emmerich. Google 'Dolorous Passion' and see how Gibson encapsulated the horrors very well. Jesus was besieged by armies of demons in the garden but what appalled him was seeing the things that would be done in his name and in spite of his sufferings after the resurrection.

The first ten minutes of the movie were the best. I never would've thought of having the devil present in the garden, but it makes complete sense. That, in my opinion, would be his final and probably greatest temptation - to save his own, very human, life. A brilliant touch by Mel Gibson.

can any sane person seeing this conclude that Jesus is God? How is God able to suffer due to his own creation when assuming human form? For the record Jesus cannot die for sins because the bible makes it clear the sacrifices can only be a lamb or a female goat, so him being the sacrifice to replace all sacrifices is not sustainable by the Torah and is proof that the church fathers had no clue about how the jewish books work when they were cooking up christianity

Hey Koro! Jesus specifically said that He was willingly suffering, that he was offering Himself up. Like many have mentioned on this page, Jesus fulfilled over 300 Tanakh (Old Testament) prophecies, some of which talk about Substitutionary Atonement.
The Church Fathers, aka the Apostles, were taught and structured by Jesus himself, who was raised in the Jewish tradition. Actually, He was raised perfectly in the OT traditions, which allowed him to be a pure, perfect, sacrifice. :)

I agree with u 100%. the other important point to note here is that Jesus constantly told his desciples and ppl to follow the commandments. The OT and NT have a huge amount of contradictions for e.g one sole imsgeless god vs three in one god, salvation through faith and works vs faith only, Eve' sin as ours vs our sins as ours etc etc
If god is omnipotent, why couldn't he forgive sins outright? Why sacrifice and humiliate your son? Bible says that no man bears the burden of sin from his father

These were claimed unclean for a very simple reason. Pork is a worthless meat with no value to nutrition. If you look at the things God said do not do, it is all based on health and wellness of spirit and body. I do agree these things are old covenant, but His Commandants hold true to this day.

No, the true reason being, if pork in those days were not to be eaten within a day, there was the danger of the meat being infested. Leviticus is highly intelligent. But there is no longer a reason to let animals be killed in such a barbaric manner. God is the Creator of all life. And we need to respect it. This would be His will. As Jesus himself said, before, there were other commandments, but because people were so evil, God, in His kindness towards us, was lenient.

can you plz give reference to this point in your post? from what i have read in the bible, it is clearly mentioned that jesus was sent to confirm the torah and the commandments. this included the prohibition of eatinig pork clearly.
later on, st. paul changed all that and the early church canonized his books (which were against the teachings of jesus). there are many other examples. i dont buy the theory that mosaic law died after jesus. he was sent to confirm it and not change it form.

Not if we fellow followers have something to do with it!!! Christ wants us to encourage those weak in faith to come to him, not condemn them! In the New Testament Christ talks about his people being like trees that bear fruit. This means not just keeping your faith all to yourself, rather bear God's love onto all those who are weak in faith and in this God will be most pleased. For a tree that does not bear fruit, is of no use to God, and too, will be cast into the fire!

I'd never had nightmares due to films, and never have since...... save for this one movie. Satan scared me s**tless. I saw this in theaters and that night I woke up in my bed; everything was dark and when I rolled over I saw those two little children with distorted faces, mashing their teeth at me-- that's when I woke up for real in a cold sweat. I couldn't go back to sleep for at least another hour!! LOL
