  • Bring back the fountain I say!

You're right, the managers/owners since Westfield sold their half haven't been the best - Gandel and Lend Lease.

Funding has stalled for a large scale expansion and I'd say this will make it a bargain to sell in coming years as its development won't have kept pace.

  • Centro Toombul's also a prime example.

Westfield sold Toombul, in 2003, and now it's a shell of what it once was.

  • Yeah, what a developers' bargain that place is, talk about destroying asset value.

Looks very sub-regional and dated, to think it used to boast 2 dept stores. And now Centro go cap in hand to Mark McInnes to desperately keep DJs there, sad!

No Barry Bull & Toombul Music either.

Brisbane needs growth in shopping centres, not downgrades, we need an inner and outer ring of centres to exist. The population is there to begin to replicate how centres have developed in Syd & Mel.

  • Apparently Indro redevelopment DA has recently gone to BCC for approval.

If it's approved, I'm expecting DJ's will announce that they will pull out of Toowong Village, in favor of Indooroopilly within days, even within hours of approval being given for the first post-Westfield redevelopment for Indooroopilly.

Toowong Village is even more dated than Indooroopilly, and is half the age, losing DJ's will have a major impact.

  • I agree-Toowong store hasn't been renovated in lieu of moving elsewhere-it's in a Rip Van Winkle stage.

One of DJ's smallest stores-it's time for a move.

The management of Toowong Village went downhill when Gordon Fu's company bought it-long term tenants left-feel of the centre changed & generally not as well kept compared with 80's/90's when it was marketed as an upmarket centre "shopping in the best of circles".

Toowong DJs is a Grid 4 store along with Toombul & Garden C-needs an increase.

  • @MicMogul DJ's Toombul lease ends February next year. Surely becoming Australia's first "dead mall" ain't far off for Centro Toombul.

  • Remember, this was back when Chermside was a third of it's current size, and Brisbane's largest at that time was in the CBD and just opened (i.e The Myer Centre).

Thus the "greatest shopping centre of them all" tag fitted Westfield Indooroopilly, (itself a former holder of the "largest in Australia" title) to a "T" during the Expo year of 1988.
