  • this is just big enough to carry aboard cartmans yearly kfc lunches

  • The largest man moving object.... In the world

  • @ all those against me. i say that the human indeavors have gone backwards why not try to make a jahre wikinking using 21th century standart and make the concorde using turbofans instead, now we do smaller less effektive machines ie panamax tankers and hybrid cars where the poluton alone from creating these will alove a moris mini or a citroen 2 cv to run for 20years from the co2 created for the contruction of the so called enviromental friendly car alone... that why i run a 85 for escort 1.3

  • if you don't do your job, you have to jog around that thing 10 times

  • Gargoyle on the bow, got to love british humor.

  • Do a barrel roll

  • @jcmik

If they attempt a barrel roll with that thing, it might cause a devastating tsunami.

  • Two miles turn.... I AGREE! DO SO!

  • The music they used sounds like the bowser bossfight from mario 64

  • reminded me of goldeneye on n64

  • chuck norris liferaft

  • And now that ship is dismantled...sad...

  • Man made.

  • Thats some proper Norwegian craftsmanship, not as that shitty Prius, this is the real world.

  • @sangolt88 Jahre Viking was built as Seawise Giant in 1979 by Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. at their Oppama shipyard in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, Japan.

    Who makes the prius?

    History of the ship:

    Mont (2009–2010)

    Knock Nevis (2004–2009)

    Jahre Viking (1991–2004)

    Happy Giant (1989–1991)

    Seawise Giant (1979–1989)

  • @turbogurrab My bad. I'm just tired of how we stop building these great ships, now its all about saving energy and going for the smaller and cheaper stuff.

  • If i get rich I'll but this shit and make it into my own personal island!

  • @tordern22

Problem is the ship is no more.

  • they need horizontal elevators on that thing

  • 0:45.

  • 0-60 : never,,

    60-0 : forever

  • There are some oars for the crew to use if the engines ever fail.

  • this thing has a V9000 cubic engine xDD

  • monster

  • And now it's scraped :(

  • @stifsre yep, its soul is in your fusion catridges

  • bloody bolocks of hell

  • Why aren't American shows about this kind of stuff this interesting...

  • @Dino502Run Because it doesn't explode.

  • @qwasd0r I bet they could coax an explosion out of that thing, but you make a good point. There was also a lack of scantily-clad women.

  • BAGGER 288!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • HOLY CRAP DAT HAIR.

  • So Darth Vader is Indian.

  • BACH'S TOCCATA IN D MINOR!! FUCK YEAH!

  • Hey he had hair back then

  • @willo262 He still has hair O.O well some :/

  • sad this thing was demolished in 2010

  • seriously, i have to ask. WHO WOULD HIT THUMBS DOWN TOTHIS?!

  • I mean its obviously big, but am I the only one who cant see how its taller than the empire state building?

  • @joey3491 it's because it's in the ocean and there is nothing to compare it to for scale.

  • @ShoelessJoe11 Probably

  • Lets see it drift !!

  • Looks like an oil tanker to me

  • What is the ship even used for?

  • @Crimsonphilic carrying stuff

  • But.... will it blend?

  • @aPudgyNinjaOnXBL You're a fucking idiot. cheers

  • @aPudgyNinjaOnXBL it was made in scandinavia. what do you think? Of course not.

  • @cuzgandalfgothigh99 It sailed under Norwegian (Scandinavian) flag for most of its lifespan, but the ship was built in Japan.

  • @filmidioten japan? oh, well, as long as it isn't made in china... i dunno if it will blend now damnit.

  • @aPudgyNinjaOnXBL man this is so odd, I see it on every page on youtube! can you people stop doing this? Thanks!

  • I love how the use mars the bringer of war

  • Am I watching vampire movie or what

  • It's less than half as long as an Imperial Star Destroyer. And those engineers crafted that a long, long time ago.

  • @Ultrakalifragilistic In A Galaxy Far, Far Away

  • How does such a massive ship get by with such tiny crew?

  • @KenArrari Hedly Lamar, duh

  • Loving the Toccata and Fugue in D Minor at 1:00.

  • Let's make something like this in space.

  • @ChristianL0ritz Sweet jesus that would be expensive.

  • What's it for?

  • @lakostal FUCK YOU Thats what it's for.

  • @lakostal It is for FUCK YOU

  • If Noah would've had a boat this big he could have fit the dinosaurs in.

  • Mars, Bringer of War. Nice.

  • haha he looked stilll younh here

  • @Joshmcfee There is actually a Youtube video of this ship in the Suez canal, but it was empty at the time.

  • What's th eorgan song ?? thanks!

  • @Jaiv74 Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by Bach.

  • @Ferrariman601

Yes - but what recording...? This is an excellent recording with proper tempo and reverb. Any idea of artist/label, etc...?

    Thanks!

  • @CCMochi No idea. Sorry :( I'd quite like to know myself actually.

  • Theres all sorts of interesting little facts about this ship.

Seawise Giant (Jahre Viking) was damaged during Iran–Iraq War by an Iraqi air force attack while transiting the Strait of Hormuz on 14 May 1988 and carrying Iranian crude oil. She sank and was declared a total loss.

Shortly after the Iran-Iraq war, Norman International bought the wreckage of the ship and repaired her. She was renamed "Happy Giant" after the repairs.

  • Allure of the Seas is better.

  • "And now it's time to see how fast it goes around the track in the hands of our tamed racing driver!"

  • @KirkTheGod 0:00:0 because it is so big it covers the whole track.

  • @KirkTheGod some say he has run the track in the Jahre Viking in under 1:20... while intoxicated!

  • @KirkTheGod Some say he has a strange fascination with my little pony and that he is afraid of the color purple.

  • @KirkTheGod It's bigger then the track.

  • Norwegian wonders.

  • "I've been to Bombay and the standard of driving is shabby"

Classic Clarkson - I expect no less from such a bigoted yob.

  • @chamolihn considering that stating driving is "shabby" he was being out right nice.

  • The maintenance must cost more than a country !

  • 1.27 He was scared xD

  • It's ironically how they named it a viking ship - The viking longships were famous for being able to go in shallow waters. The keel would go as little as 0.5meter under the surface of the water.

  • Is this ship no longer extant then? a truly impressive machine but like all the ULCCs rather worrying about how much potential for damage is there should something go wrong

  • lol clarkson is such a jackass, "professionals, right, yeah".

  • if the demand had been there surely more of these giants would have been built, but in fact only very few 500,000dwt-plus ulcc tankers were ever constructed.

  • Whats the beginning song

  • What is this used for exactly?

  • @MobsterMayhem Oil transport

  • the Howercraft ferries, the concorde, the rover V8, the spaceshuttle and now the Jahre viking all of them are techinical achievements that no longer exist..... the world is moving backwards

  • @16jan1986 The Euro-tunnel, The A380 Airbus, the BMW twin turbo V8, Virgin Galactic, The Burj Khalifa... I dunno man, I think the world is pretty awesome these days!

  • @16jan1986 hovercraft ferries exist>>>

  • @16jan1986 yeah the world sucks, but what do you expect?

  • @16jan1986

umm the concorde is discontinued for a reason...

  • @16jan1986 Moving backwards? Because we don't have a use for a giant tanker or a wasteful shuttle built using technologies from the 70s? Are you kidding?

  • @16jan1986 yeah...when we stop using obsolete technology that means we're moving backwards. yep.

  • @s3v3n426426

Show me a feasible replacement for the Concorde. The Space Shuttle was replaced by the grand technological advancement of... not going to space anymore?

  • @DarkSideM00n the concorde was really never needed ..thats why its programme finally got shut down

  • @pettersaethre

Were the works of Bach or Beethoven really needed? Or the Sistine chapel? No, but if these works of art were destroyed it would be a great tragedy for humanity. The wonders of human ingenuity that are these machines are slowly fading away.

  • @16jan1986 The spaceshuttle is no longer around because they're designing a new spacecraft for NASA and decided to rely on commercial spacecraft in the meantime.

  • @16jan1986 The Jahre Viking was too impractical.

  • @16jan1986 I disagree. Bigger does not always mean better. In the coming decades, with resources becoming more scarce, what will matter is efficiency, sustainability and real world results. We can't afford the symbolism of the shuttle or the size of the jahre viking. It's, plainly put, selfish to inefficiently waste nonrenewable resources on trivial things, when future generations will inherit a whole world's economy that's dependent on these quickly dwindling resources.

  • @w00dyguthrie you are the man

  • @w00dyguthrie well-said, my friend.

  • @16jan1986 Nope, its simply moving in another direction

  • @16jan1986 ...wut? hovercraft ferries are still in operation

  • @16jan1986 Hovercrafts are still in use lol. I live in Portsmouth so I see them almost everyday, they go from the Isle of Wight and France and back everyday.

  • bet parkings a bitch..

  • @frusciantenc Yeah they probably don't do that by themselves but engines on stop and 6 of 8 tug boats...

  • @thadutchguy let me have my moment

  • It wasn't on Top Gear, it was a programme that Clarkson made about 10 - 15 years ago on Massive machinery. Awesome ship and would love to see this thing in a dry dock to view it's massive scale

  • What episode is this?

  • penis

  • Wait... Boilers? BOILERS!? That monster can't be a steam ship, can she? Nobody uses STEAM anymore. So, what gives?

  • @DAOzz83

She was built back in '81, steam turbine oil tankers were still common back then. Saying that though, most LNG Carriers are still steam turbine.

  • @thegarishjellyfish

Indeed, as only a little bit of research would have told me. And DID, but only AFTER commenting. Me and my big mouth! Thanks for the response, though. I'll try to be more careful in the future (yeah, right!).

  • @saken2000 Yeah its unlikely.

  • my dick is bigger xD

  • that ship got scrapped

  • @ 1:00 what was the tittle of that music???....

  • @VNNN08 Hello, it's Toccata and Fugue in d minor, Bach.

  • @VeyronBD which don't exist

  • @Gysis66 Yet...

  • @VeyronBD you plan on building it i suppose, it's been on hold for 10 years, never had any sponsors. It's just a crazy dream.

  • @Gysis66 Yeah, im building it for the game Rigs of Rods...

  • Holy Jesus Juice!!!

  • @InvictusAeternum Evt.

  • @InvictusAeternum Sweden did not exist in the Viking age at all .. Just some southern mercenaries fighting for Danish or Norwegian kings.

  • Horrible background music...

  • and ma nature can still sink that thing in a heartbeat.

  • Now to get the massive things into space ... hmmm... =)

  • maybe dumb question but what does it carry ?

  • @Blacomerjo

Crude oil. And loads/unloads at sea. Only docks for repairs or overhaul.

  • @LaughatNAZIs thanks man !

  • @Blacomerjo pillows, lots of fucking pillows

  • @alderaforall and wigs

  • they used a lot of red paint on it

  • It annoys me that this is on the top gear channel. It has nothing to do with top gear.

  • @jonthedoors Good news, in the description it says that this was on "Jeremy Clarkson's Extreme Machines", not Top Gear.

  • They show the gearbox and the boilers, why not the engine itself?

  • nonono, the largest man made moving object is the earth. money makes the world go round

  • id like to piss on the deck to sorta confirm man rules over machine

  • 90% of the ship is under water, one cant see how big it is!

  • @TheInGenCO Your thinking of icebergs, Every ship has a different draft which is the number of feet from the waterline to the lowest point.

  • @TheInGenCO yeah just like your mom

  • Jeremy clarksson for president! :P

  • lol and a hideous gargoyle... lolololol jermmy always been funny

  • the largest ship......in the world :-)

  • @2bidfilmsguy Nimitz class nuclear carrier is probably more expensive but not bigger. This ship is a half a million tonnes class designed as a cargo whereas Nimitz class is 100,000 tonnes aircraft carrier designed as a weapon. You could probably tell as the cargo needs 35 crews and the aircraft carrier carry 5,000 people on board in operation.
