I can't believe people are debating whether he is a great guitar player or not! No one said he was the greatest guitar player! The title says "Mana-sama guitar solo (Moi Dix Mois)." Not "Mana Sama greatest guitar player ever!" It's about his image and presence! His guitar playing is second to that! And why does every video posted have to become a freaking intellectual debate? Why can't people enjoy it for what it's worth? It's freaking entertainment! Enjoy it or move on!!!!
I dont think you do understand the music... it's not supposed to sound good, it have to sound this way to give the fans this creepy feeling. you can find many videos where you can here him play guitar, take the band malice mizer for example. that sounds good but that is allso a positive song they played. but in this band it have to be creepy and dark. mana sama and hizaki do not play the same type of music so that's not fair to compare those 2.
This is incredibly disappointing. I admire Mana's songwriting a great deal, but this "guitar solo" blows. It's just a bunch of un-calculated noise. Being a guitarist myself, I would have really liked to have seen and heard what he can really do on guitar.
He's come up with some very clever and creative ideas on guitar (usually licks and runs teamed with Kozi), but he hasn't demonstrated a lot of technical ability in his career that I've heard.

That was horrid... I mean I love Mana-sama's work and all... but that... it's more like a "fangirl test" o.o if people still are like "OMG I LOVE THIS" they're probably fangirls and just go for the looks.
ALTHOUGH other than... this... Mana is a pretty good guitarist, as seen by the (actual)solos in MM and M10M.

I agree that Moi Dix Mois is boring shit for the most part. ALTHOUGH, all of you claiming HIzaki is better or that Mana sucks obviously has never heard Malice Mizer. Hizaki is a direct spawn of what Mana was in Malice Mizer, both in look and dress, and both playing classical to goth guitar solos.

I don't know what the big deal is here? Who's the best between Mana and Hizaki? I've seen them both live. And they're both amazing. Sure, when it comes to skill i think Teru and Hizaki are faster and more skillful with the guitars.However Mana is an amazing bandleader and composer.Many people are skilled with guitars out there without being famous.For me Mana is,looks and acts like a god. The most important here isn't how famous they are. I just think Mana wants to express her passion for music.

If you haven't listened to Moi Dix Mois - Xanadu, D-Sect, the two Pessimiste versions and The Seventh Veil you should really do that ^^

norifumi shima Is way better at that considering he studied from the book of Ritchie Blackmore(Deep Purple, Rainbow). which is way before most of your time. True "Neo-Classical comes from the past, so to speak. ou might want to study up on that, be fore you say this and that.
I think both Mana, and Hizaki are very talelented, but you gotta listen too other gutiarist to get a true view of the"Neo Classical style.

I think he uses his "solo" to take out frustration. I once read an interview where it says he prefers preforming live to recording because he gets to work out all the frustration he built up from trying to compose all their songs. So I guess "Mad Ingrain" is a good title for the song, and his "noise" is all of his frustration.
Agreed with all the parts except the last one...I really love Japan,it's really cool and full of culture just that when making a solo it's not speed that counts it's the quality of playing the guitar and notes.

I think he uses his "solo" to take out frustration. I once read an interview where it says he prefers preforming live to recording because he gets to work out all the frustration he built up from trying to compose all their songs. So I guess "Mad Ingrain" is a good title for the song, and his "noise" is all of his frustration.

Agreed with all the parts except the last one...I really love Japan,it's really cool and full of culture just that when making a solo it's not speed that counts it's the quality of playing the guitar and notes.
Try listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird for an awsome 5 mins solo.

Only Mana could make pure fin'g noise Epic. Just a few seconds of just pure unadulterated noise and you are floored.
I think it has something to do with him not flinging the guitar out into the audience with all those wild gyrations, or tripping on the cord.

to peeps who are saying Mana's guitar playin sucks, you have to know, Mana was technically brought up by music... this is 'noise', no melody or beat really needed. You have to see some of his other stuff than just this simple vid. He's a kick-ass guitarist in my opinion!

The solo wasnt supposed to have a melody, pattern, or anything pretty. It was SUPPOSED to sound chaotic.
His parents are music teachers, he composes all the songs et cetera. to say hes a bad guitarist is fucking retarded. MM and MdM fans know manas true talent just mistaking what this solo was suppose to be is just silly.

No, he's really not good. There's skill with an instrument, then there's knowledge of music. But that's why he plays simple songs with a more interesting musical aspect. He's not dumb, but he's certainly not a great guitarist; as he even said himself once.

what? Is it called "solo"??? i am a big Mana's fan, but.. i have to admit that even my cat could make such solo as this one. Mana's ISN'T THE BEST and this "solo" is the worst solo i have ever seen. But Mana looks beautiful. he probably more cares about his beauty than about guitar lessons.

Does it look like he tried? Honestly, if your a big Mana fan, then you would know that Mana can pwn the hell out of a guitar like Miyavi can slap the hell out of a acoustic. I know this wasn't that good, but telling Mana he needs lessons in guitar playing is like telling gackt how to sing. He already knows how.

Well, I know how to play bass and acoustic, so I know how to play. I also know that Mana obviously wasn't trying in this video. Blame the person who named this "Guitar solo". Also, you do know both of Mana's parents are music teachers, he composes the music for all his songs, hes a stage manager, stylist, clothes designers and overall, control freak of his band? If you've seen Mana play songs with Malice Mizer, like Shiroi, then you can see that he is a great guitarist.
