It's a great show if you're 12 or under. It's too obvious and sophmoric for anyone over that age. It's about as mentally challenging as tic-tac-toe.

And you still didn't answer my question as to if you've actually ever watched the show. Cause it sounds like you're getting it confused with one of those brainless late night soap operas that don't even have a plot.

Supernatural is one of the few shows that actually makes you think. Its got the thrills of a horror movie each week with the underlying plot of the relationship between the two brothers. It also has many plot twists and surprises that keep the viewer questioning.

Think about what? Nonsense? 59 ways to kill a vampire? Because ... well ... we all need to know that! If you want to TRULY know something about the supernatural avoid this junk and learn to read. Start with the 7 Charles Williams novels such as "All Hallow's Eve", or George MacDonald's "The Portent", and CS Lewis' "That Hideous Strength".

Relationship between brothers? "What, daddy loved you more than me and now he's dead; boohoo." That's exactly what it equates to and nothing else.

The show has an amazing plot! It's not '59 ways to kill a vampire' as you put it! These guys mother was killed by a demon which changed the course of their entire lives and they are saving people and hunting things and now the war has begun because about 200 demons escaped from hell!

And yet the writers show an amazing lack of insight as to what a demon is about. Typical childish Nightmare on Elm St. crap. Demons would never walk around trying to look ghoulish and stupid. They're much more like Humpty Dumpty. They think they're too smart to be around mere humans for the most part. Again, try reading CS Lewis books like "Perelandra" or "The Screwtape Letters." The latter landed him on the cover of 'Time', something these dopey writers will never attain to.

Everyone has different views as to what demons and other Supernatual creatures are like. Most of the ideas that the writers come up with for the show they get from researching folk lore from other religions and cultures and then they use this fact and make it their own. Also they aren't making the demons looks ghoulish and stupid! They have the demons posess people so that they can kill, wreck havoc, destroy lives, etc.

I've watched enough of the shows to know they're childish prattle. If you were an "avid reader" you would have shown it in your ill-conceived musings by now. Like I said, it's probably not a terrible show for youngsters. But it's just not something an adult would tolerate for long. Demons are subtle, suggestive, and cunning. They'll try to put all kinds of thoughts into your head and lead you on a never ending wild goose chase. They'll waste your time and your life chasing after imaginary mysteries instead of doing the work you were put into the world to do. They don't inhabit bodies to kill, though they might suggest the act to someone else.

And again i will say that a lot of older people watch it! A lot of my friends that i got to watch the show soon after their parents also became obsessed. And there have been polls on the Supernatural board on The CW website about the age of fans, and most of the people were 30 and up! There were hardly any people my age. Everyone has their own opinions of demons, this is just how the writers chose to portray them. Don't take it so literally.

And it really is a great show, one of the few quality shows out there.

And honestly, I don't think parents would let their "youngsters" watch it. It really is like a horror movie each week and some episodes even had me hiding under the blankets (And I've been watching X-Files since I was three), it takes a lot to scare me.

Yes fiction is fiction, but being as it's presented in different mediums, it accomplishes it's goals in different ways. Saying that a show is childish and then trying to validate that claim by comparing it to a book doesn't prove anything, which is what I felt the original poster had done.

The writers of Supernatural wrote their show for a television audience. Whether or not they did a good job doesn't matter. Whether CS Lewis did a better one? Inconsequential.

The entire set of bloopers on the set is a little more than 7 minutes long. My local Best Buy put the DVDs on sale accidentally. I quietly took it up to the counter, thinking that they might catch their mistake. They didn't! But I doubt that it's a mistake that any other Best Buys will make, lest I start a run on Best Buy stores!
