  • Barry Sanders was very mature about the Game! Every time he scores he gives the ball straight to the referee

  • How a guy can rush for 2850 yards & 42 TDs in TWELVE games, set 34 NCAA records, win the Heisman and STILL not get picked first overall is ridiculous.

If Sanders had an O-Line he would own every major NFL rushing record.

  • Chvx

  • Barry Sanders was Adrian Peterson with moves.

  • 240p we meet again

  • Not only the best running back of ALL TIME. But also one of the classiest. Can't wait to watch his son play college and pro ball.

  • Imagine if the Lions had Barry now. Javid Best CANNOT run the ball.

  • barrys' coach said he was to small. than the starting running back got injured. barry sanders over 200 yards haha

  • @politicsrmyths

They say he was small...yet he was 5'9 200lbs. His lower body is far stronger than your typical 200lb man, the way he could cut and pull tacklers was insane. GOAT by far.

  • I always thought it funny how they compared Reggie Bush at UFC to Barry. Barry had more rush yards and TDs his final year in college then Bush and Lindale White COMBINED...in LESS games. Bush was no where near his league.

  • 14 dislikes? dude, all you emmitt smith and walter payton fans, gtfo. you guys are haters and your jealous as fuck. greatest rb ever, in college and in the pros.

  • That cut at 0:40 is just ridiculous. Show me another human being that can cut at full speed like that.

  • @Nick1944 - I said the exact same thing when I first saw it.

  • 2:35 is freaking awesome.

  • That's a fact

  • there will never be another.

  • So exciting to watch.

  • man if i had a dollar for every pixel this video has i would be broke

  • just imagine if he had a offensive line in the pros!!!! he would have rushed for almost 20,000 yards for his career!!! and maybe wouldnt have retired early... i miss u BARRY

  • @K1LLaRoBOtFi5h

He had Lomas Brown adn Kevin lover who made a bunch of pro bowls....plus he ran from singleback with two te's alot to keep the defense from stacking the line....not to mention huge wr's like Herman Moore and Germaine Crowell. Everyone always says the Lions sucked but they mde the playoffs in 5 of Barrys 10 seasons.....but Barry folded once they were in the playoffs.

  • barry sanders BEST OF ALL TIME

  • wow

  • His son is just as good if not better than his dad. I mean when his son graduates in 2012, he will be the top recruit. He can be everything like his dad if he goes to college. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him in the NFL in the future.

  • @redmustang03 Well, if his son is as good as his dad, he WILL be in the NFL. I don't think that will happen though. His dad was the best ever.

  • Let the talent speak for itself !!!

  • A man among boys.

  • BEAST

  • It is such a joy to watch a guy who is not only one of the greatest athletes of all time, but is also one of the classiest.

  • Barry entertained on the field, not the endzone. He was a true football player. He would do his job and toss or hand the ball to the ref. A class act, a gentalman.

  • "act like you've been there before" - Barry Sanders

  • on skates @ :40

  • where the hell is he?

  • wuts the name of this song!!!! its gangster

  • He tauses it to the ref and proceeds with the game... no boasting, no 'me', just gettin' work done with the TEAM! it's an amazing concept the seems to have been lost, what a shame.

  • Thats right he came from Oklahoma baby best RB of all time nuff said hopefully his son does good once he gets outta HS

  • @provex0 very original take there provex. trolls will be trolls. remember to brush and floss at least twice a day.

  • @provex0 well he's world famous and you're sitting at your computer wishing you were. you sir can go fuck yourself

  • What makes Barry Sanders so great? I love Barry's attitude after he scores! He never celebrates. Just hands the ball to the ref because why celebrate something you can do all the time. Scoring is like breathing to Barry.

  • Barry sanders - Making defenses jobs harder and referees lives easier.

  • i love it how he this tosses the ball to the ref after every touchdown

    what a great sport

  • I can't ever remember berry getting hit hard, has he ever?

  • @BIacksyuk Nope, not that I've seen. The defender either holds on to him to stop him from running or a group of defenders will jump on him.

  • over 2600 yards in one college season omg is anyone gonna beat that in the next 20 years i think not!

  • I don't begrudge any player a little celebration after a TD. It's an exciting moment and a huge sigh of relief for the player. But that's also what makes Barry nonchalantly flipping the ball to the ref so badass. He knew he was going to score, so why get worked up. That's ice cold ninja/jedi stuff. Barry was incredible.

  • @Wolvesq LMBO at "ninja stuff" but that is exactly why I loved Barry Sanders...he moved at a totally different speed and seemed to have eyes on his back...Only other player that I seen remotely look that good was Marshall Faulk...not OJ, Payton, Emmitt, gayle, or anyone else.

  • I really get tired of people equating tossing the ball to a ref with class. Yes Barry was a class act for many reasons, but a player dancing is not taunting and it is not classless...Football is a GAME. Football is SHORT-LIVED. Football is a HEATH RISK.

You put in so much work for such a short moment of success why not celebrate? Every play is a chance of severe injury... why not celebrate your triumph with your team and fans. This isn't tea sipping or a presidential debate it is a VIOLENT GAME

  • @kudabeen Totally agree

  • i lost track of him @:59 ...

  • greatest rusher, yes. Greatest running back? #34

  • Adrian Peterson - 3 years in the league 20 fumbles, 4884 yards, 40 touchdowns, 915 attempts, 4.9 average

Barry Sanders - 3 years in league 5 fumbles, 4322 yards, 43 touchdowns,

    877 attempts, 5 average

We'll see if AD can stay healthy because Barry never got injured.

  • @morrisok23 Now put up chris johnson stats I'll wait...then i wanna see your conclusion

  • Barry Sanders was the back up to Thurman Thomas.. OSU still could not beat anyone with such talent.

  • ok even tho in college u cant dance around after a touchdown even when he went to the nfl he just gave to the ref which i dont understand how he could do that i mean like he would make the greatest playes and still keep his composure, now thats a real beast

  • 240 yards per game? am i reading that right?

  • @neotri45 You read that right. Something that is usually overlooked is that during that season he didn't play the entire game most of the time. Their high-powered offense allowed him to come out in the 3rd quarter in most games. If they had wanted, OSU could have had Barry well over the 3000 rushing mark.

  • I believe back in the day players could do some form of celebration. Ever seen the miami player's backflip?

  • two things I want to point out...

    1. This is all from one season because Sanders only started for one year at OSU which is amazing as hell if u actually see the numbers he put up

    2. The QB in the video is Mike Gundy, the current head coach at OSU, cool

  • barry is such a class act by far my favorite RB

  • @shitshow09 dude I never mentioned anything about him dancing in the endzone. I said that he finds the ref almost everytime and hands the ball to him instead of dropping it like most players do now a days. This has nothing to do with him dancing or showing off. Its about how he celebrates with his teammates he finds his the ref and gives him the ball.

  • love how he just flips the ball to the ref, as if it's no big deal.

    "well, here ya go."

  • I like how he always just hands the ball over to the referee after the touchdown no matter how exciting the run was

  • Had Barry not prematurely retired, he would have been the all time leading rusher and I believe Emmitt left in 03 or 04 and he even stated himself after he won it that had Barry still played a year or two more, he would have still been trying to catch him even when Emmitt hung them up.

  • GO COLTS!!

  • maybe my fourth favorite RB behind

    1. Earl campbell

    2. Larry Czonka

    3."The Bus"

  • Thanks for posting that. He would undoubtly be one of the greats of all time. The way he could change direction & cut on a dime was amazing. left many a DB going "I got him..dang where did he go" lol

  • i live in oklahoma DEATH TO THE SOONERS

  • @BrattyMaddy jealous much?

  • I am a Husker For Life, but this dude made my boys look foolish...and this was when the "Blackshirts" were "the Blackshirts" if you know what I am saying...Barry Sanders, ONE OF A KIND. Much respect. One Love.

  • as his body could endure, he most likely would have set an all time career rushing total that would have been almost impossible to reach. I look at everyones criticism's of AP much like I look at when I hear People criticize Barack Obama (Which I am not a fan of). Wait to criticize them when they are finished, not when they've only been in it for such a short time.

  • I would like to start off by saying that I am a die hard Oklahoma Sooner fan and would like to say that Adrian Peterson is my favorite player in the NFL because of this and I do believe he will become an all time great and is on that path already. But there will ALWAYS only be ONE Barry Sanders who is the Greatest RB of all time: College and Professional. He would easily have been the All-time leading rusher had he not retired, as he was still in his prime; that is a fact. If he had gone as long

  • I like how even in college he always just handed the ball to the ref after he scored. Never acted like a D-bag like everyone in the nfl does.

  • @huebertd

It's because there is a rule and you get penalty for celebrating in college and so does the NFL so dunno whatchu talkin 'bout Willis

  • @jho369 there's not a rule for handing the ball to the ref

  • @bretchet23

I never said there is one. I said there is a penalty for celebrating with the ball, that's why you can't hang on to the ball. L2read imo.

  • @jho369 then why did you reply to him? he was talking about handing the ball to the ref not celebrating. since you replied to that, i assumed you were talking about the same thing. not really my fault....

  • @bretchet23

because he can't celebrate with it idiot, that's why he handed the ball to ref...what else can he do to it? Throw it on the ground? Think for a second before you talk

  • @jho369 sigh. you are slow aren't you? the point is he handed the ball to the ref instead of dropping it on the ground and making the ref pick it up.

  • @huebertd

I swear it seems like during his runs he would try to run toward where the ref was standing in the end zone just to get it to him quicker. He didn't need to worry if it was going to be a TD or not, that was already decided.

  • One of the top five running backs in the NFL and College (all-time). The most elusive ever with Gayle Sayers of the Bears!

  • Comment removed

  • Barry Sanders is freaking amazing! Go Lions!

  • @ n000bsaib0t Yes, i do notice that, he never showed off to anyone. Also one of the classiest RB's to ever play the game, it was always about his team, not him.

  • anyone else notice the first thing he does after a touchdown is look for the ref and give him the ball. Even if he ain't lookin lol

  • Barry Sanders-Oklahoma State 2,628 yards. (1988) Anybody that beats that NCAA single season record, and I don't think thats possible, will earn my "you're the greatest back of all time" opinion

  • i dont know how 12 to 13 teams even allow that to happen.

  • @JTnine78 Crazy thing is that they didn't count the bowl game into the statistics back then. Barry also ran for 222 yards and 5TDs in the Holiday bowl (in which he didn't even play in the 4th quarter). Add the bowl and his season statistics were:

    2,750 yards rushing

    42 rushing TDs

This was in 12 games people... unreal!

  • And do it in what's now the Big 12. What Barry did in '88 is insane... even if you were doing it on PlayStation it's unbelievably hard.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! right of the bat of this video barry sanders owns. Barry when he was in collage he still owned damn!! Hes a beast with a uniform on

  • barry makes me jealous the way he played

n thts hard thing for a man to admit lol

  • He looked bored. But he showed class. After every TD he just gives the ball to the ref and moves on. Greatness.

  • Every time he got tackled in the endzone he was double or triple teamed.

  • GO pokes!

  • I love Barry Sanders,no homo. But hes the greatest Football Player of alltime.Just think what he couldve done the numbers he wouldve put up if he had a good o line and a offense even similar to OSU.Where he had great designed plays for him AND they gave him the ball in goalline...I never understood that the G.O.A.T and u pull him on goal line cuz he loses yards sum time.FUCK THAT!That and I hafta say I HATE BOBBY ROSS!!!!!!!!U damn near single handedly Retired the Greatest by ur self u ASSHOLE!

  • hahah why do you hate Bobby Ross...the Lions' organization almost damn near cost that guy's life. The Lions are the worst organization in the history of professional sports. I love them to death but one playoff victory in the history of the super bowl era and it's not like we're an expansion team. We've been in the NFL since the 1930's yet we have one playoff victory....I don't get it.. We never draft O-line either. Let's take Pettigrew over Oher.. that was a stupid pick.

  • yep ross is a fuck face....he would of put up 20,000 yards if he was of finished his career like emmit smith did

  • Your right bedsidetrash. I was just having that discussion with my friend the other day. Chris has Barry's style of running. He's the closest I have seen to Barry. Good eye.

  • @Synchronicity33

You mean chris johnson? really? I guess I'll have to watch chris more closely.

Yeah, all the greats before or since barry didn't do it the way barry did, they couldn't have. they were great in their own ways though. Barry could not have run the way Jim Brown did.

still, I am partial to Barry's one of a kind style. Such artistry!

  • Not completely true. Chris Johnson is the only RB in the league that can actually get to the edge in the NFL nowadays. Barry didn't have to.

  • I am a die-hard Barry fan and I must say that Chris Johnson does not have the moves that Barry did, but he does have considerably more speed.

Sorry Adrian, Chris Johnson is the best back in the league right now.

  • @Laurafouty if chris johnson was run up the middle every play like adrian is, he'd suck donkey cock to. Watch next year as lilchrissy gets 500 carries for 1500 yards

  • Yeah. Barry's the best ever, no argument can be made by anyone against that. Chris Johnson is the best right now with blazing speed and AD has fumbling problems but he is a still great back and violent strong runner . If he holds on the ball better and lowers his running level he will have a repeat of 08-09. But CJ looks like he's gonna be doing this for a long time and he's only gonna get better

  • How dumb are you? You think AD is a better back to Sanders? Take off your crimson colored glasses. AD is surrounded by greatness, including a pro-bowl OSU DT. Nobody who knows shit about football is going to agree that Peterson is a better back.

  • @izuru67 you are a fucking idiot for saying that Adrian Peterson is better than Barry Sanders. According to your dumb ass logic, Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas, and Mike Bell are all better than AP since they just took their team to the Superbowl and won it. And AP was the major reason why the Vikings didn't make the superbowl, he fumbled the ball away like a lil bitch. AP is not even the best RB in the NFL, Chris Johnson is.

  • u r dumb as hell for that one. AP cant even hang on to the ball. So i guess according to ur logic tret dilfer is better that dan marino.

  • @izuru67 i love how you can criticize the best RB to ever play the game. i don't like the lions but i will give props to barry sanders for doing what he did for that team. they had a QB who couldn't get the ball to a receiver, no defense, and a line that allowed the D to get into the backfield 3 out of every 4 downs. Sanders had to dance around every play to get any yards he could. you show pure ignorance when it comes to football. AP is a good runner but won't be great till he can hold the ball

  • My fovorite sports figure of all time, and my favorite team of all time. Go Barry!!! Go Pokes!!!

  • Hey abudi20, what song did you replace "Smiley Faces" with?

  • chris johnson is a bit like sanders but chris doesn't try any fakes.

  • The Greatest Back of all time. Too bad the Lions are dumbasses and didnt want to pay him what he deserved. Only Played 10 seasons and has Some of the Best numbers of anyone.

  • Wasnt about the $,,he retired because the Lions wouldnt do more to win plus the fact he golfed with another former RB at a charity event and seen how bad off he was from the years playing and he wanted out before that happened with him.

  • Anyone else notice that he gives the ball to the ref after every touchdown instead of doing a dance. Now that is class.

  • Hey rey, I was watching that through the whole highlight reel. Your right, CLASS!

  • @reyamayaiii1 dude it's college, you can't dance or you'll get a 15 yard penalty

  • @reyamayaiii1 thats because in college football if you spike the ball and dance you get a misconduct penalty....

  • @reyamayaiii1 yeah he has to otherwise he would get tired from all that dancing.lol

  • @reyamayaiii1 That kind of humility is N/A now. Tis a shame.

  • @reyamayaiii1 No one does a dance in college, it's a 15 yard penalty.

  • @rmoyer if no one does a dance then why is there a penalty against? Because people have done it and will still do it.

  • @reyamayaiii1 The penalty is to prevent people from doing it. It works. No one drop-kicks quarterbacks either, but that would still get flagged if someone did. The fact that there's a penalty against something doesn't mean people do it. It MAY mean people USE to do it. Anyway, I agree with you that Barry's the man, and it's true that he didn't do flamboyant celebrations in the pros either (where it was allowed), so your basic point about the man holds.

  • @reyamayaiii1

He scored like 50 td's in one year....pretty hard to create that many dances.

  • @reyamayaiii1 And he did it 48 times that year! best single season stats in div.1 college ever only started 1 year cuz thurman thomas was 1 year ahead of him

  • @reyamayaiii1 focused

  • he just shit on them

  • Check Out #21 of the OREGON DUCKS he will be the closest thing ever to Barry Sanders

  • its sad how the team he played on in college was better then the team he played on in the NFL

  • yeah im from detroit....

    ur right

  • he is such a good sport every time he scores he just toeses it to the ref and doesnt taunt thats amazing

  • Comment removed

  • he ran out of taunts after 100 tds

  • @hockeyowns28 He continued that tradition in the nfl too. One of the classiest backs to ever play.

  • hes one sexy tit muncher

  • is he elusive or no

  • I'm pretty sure no one comes close to running like this man did. I'd say Reggie Bush, in his college days, had similarities, but Barry has his own style. One of the greatest.

  • One of my top 2 favorite players of all-time.

  • this is funny. the defenses had like 9 or 10 in the box and Barry still got thru lol

  • what the song name

  • Barry is insane...I was a fan of his growing up and seeing his highlights now..makes me cringe and brings back memories. Best RB in my opinion. Why would I put him over Brown? Because Jim Brown, played against lineman he was bigger than. Hes like a Wilt Chamberlain he had astronomical numbers because his competitions athleticism was far inferior. Barry played against much tougher defenders, geared to stop him and still couldnt.

  • thankyou finally someone who understands the fact that jim brown wasnt as great as his numbers showed. put jim brown in barrys spot he wouldnt be able to do the things he did when he played.

  • Man wtf...this dude didnt celebrate not one time. It's like he took football af it was more of a job then fun.

I think i rather want a guy to celebrate on me than a guy to score and not celebrate while makin it look easy.

  • barry ran out of celebrations after his first 496 tds...

when you're that good you don't have to celebrate.

  • Yea I know right. I know i wouldnt celebrate no mo. Just make it look easy.

  • Amen.

  • Barry is the best there is the best there was and the best there ever will be

  • Okay Barry Sanders is on a different level than Adrian Peterson. Peterson goes through people and Sanders just makes defense looks stupid.

  • silly*

  • "benzexxl" is fucking high on some sooner red shit, if he think Adrian Peterson is gonna be better then Barry Sanders. The Vikings are a good football team, and a playoff team before AP and with AP.10 years with the Lions and no matter how great Barry was, the Lions just Fucking suck! Don't get me wrong, AP is a hell of a RB, but his line makes Sanders line look like pee-wee football players. Barry woke up one day and said to himself, this team is a bunch of pussy and walked away from football.

  • College football didn't have the BCS back in the 80's and Oklahoma State played in the old southwest conference and later the Big 8, which is now the Big 12. And the dude was a sight to see in college and in the NFL. Like "TheGT500KR" said, he didn't have a F--king line to save his ass with the Lions. It was all little Barry Sanders.

  • He was so good, his trademark move, besides the twists and spins, became handing the ball off to the ref after he scored. That's class...

  • The guy in college was like Jordan playing against a bunch of 7th graders. The crazy thing was this wasn't 1-AA, this was the big 12 conference against BCS caliber teams. IMO, the best season ever any sport at any level.

  • The Big 12 did not exist until 1996. Sanders had already been in the NFL nearly a decade!

  • O.K., Whoever is trying to compare Adrian Peterson with barry sanders, stop now before you hurt yourself. Barry Sanders had NO offensive line. AP does. Barry Sanders jukes and changes direction. AP just runs people over. They both play in TOTALLY different styles. So really, theres no way you can compare the two.

  • Agreed, if you want to compare AP to someone, it should be Earl Campbell. Both are big, upright runners.

  • Note that Adrian Peterson came from Oklahoma. I just wanted to point that out too everyone. In my opnion Adrian Peterson has a chance to be better than Barry Sanders or even near his excellence.

  • Wow, and all this time I was under the impression that he was signed into the NFL the second he was born...

  • jahvid best is comin

  • they said they same about reggie bush. great prediction there wasnt it?

  • HUge Walter Payton fan but I have to put him at #2 behind #1 Barry. Emmitt Smith isn't even in the picture

  • "live" sorry lol...

  • handing the ball so fast to the ref... is his celebration.... basically saying.. ill be back here again.. dont worry.... i wish he wouldnt of retired at 31 he had so much more but no one blocked for him... he did it basically by himself.. an i love in Michigan bout 15 mins away from Detroit. but... when a mans got there mind up they got it up.. barry greatest of all TIME!

  • barry was simply the best running back ever to grace a football field. he was the one player who was really fun to watch! the way he could stop and start is like no other will ever be able to do and thats why he is one of the best athletes ever!

  • Just gotta mention this. Up till now, probably the greatest day of my life. - Dec 14 1997 Metrodome Lions vs Vikes - I'm one of SIX people that I can see wearing Lions coats. (had to thrown that in there)Anyhow, there I am sitting among Vikes fans, half of them are drunk college students. However, I didn't hear the slightest bit of cursing or Boo'ing directed toward #20. It was really something. One play a drunkard claimed Barry was down but got back up w/o the ref noticing... ah memories.

  • this team was better than the lions at the time just think if barry was on the vikings in 98 with randy moss cris carter gary anderson cunnigham it had everyone except a rb

  • The funny thing is that the vikings probably do have THAT much talent now (minus the QB?). It was funny to me with all the offensive weapons that they have and then I notice Percy Harvin too. How did the rest of the teams let him fall that far? He looked like a sure thing. I doubt the Patriots would have the record for scoring in that case.

  • Barry was the GREATEST RUNNINGBACK OF ALL-TIME SORRY JIM BUT BARRY was on the fucking lions and everybody knew BARRY was getting the ball and still couldn't stop him..One more thhing no one will ever touch his college record over 2600yrds rushing and 38TD plus many others..Like I said THE GREATEST No 20 BARRY

  • i like how he scores then immediatley hands the ball to the ref and walks away. such a humble person

  • Damn if Barry celebrated everytime he scored football games would be 25mins longer lol. but very good observation, Barry is indeed the standard by which running back excellence is measured! thank you 4 appreciating his Rare talent!

  • Didn't even play Running Back 'til the 4th game of his senior year in High School. Didn't even get in a single NCAA game 'til his record breaking, heisman winning Junior season.

#3 all time rusher, #2 greatest NCAA football player, #1 elusive RB, sorry Emmitt Smith & Walter Payton, but Barry deserved the rush title more. Especially since he was on the lions.

  • he was better in the nfl then in college lol thats crazy

  • Best running back I ever seen. I wish he never retired from the nfl. Great video by the way I never saw any of his college game highlights until now. Thanks for the upload.

  • its funny Barry wasnt supposed to be a Lion they were going to pick up Deion Sanders but someone talked them into Barry

  • Barry Sanders is not human.

Also, this song sounds like it was made in FL Studio.

  • 0:57 where did he go?...lol amazing
