One Kongo class might have prolonged the war but once they were out of missiles an rounds for the gun the sheer weight of numbers, the real reason the Japanese lost, would still prevail. After all the Yamato is still the largest battleship ever put afloat but it still sank.
@fushheads Well, they had a clear shot at winning the war, remember that the crewmen on board the kongo knows specifically what would happen, and therefore could strategically place themselves to counter the events. They didn't need to fight the U.S. Navy, but with only the knowledge of future events and the IJN Fleet under their command, they could've won.
@Changethewheels Now we get into the whole time travel debate, see the most recent Star Trek. Once the Kongo intervenes and changes any one battle then none of their knowledge would be worth much. Instead of intervening in a battle I would use their impressive capabilities to wreck the port facilities at Pearl and the entire west coast.
@fushheads Also it depends on what you mean by "win." The japanese goal was never to conquer the whole US like many people want to believe, they knew they couldn't do it. They wanted to put so much of a hurt on us that we would sue for peace. That is the reason the battle of midway and Guadalcanal were crucial. We suckered the Japanese into a war of attirtion. The one thing that would ensure their defeat.
@fushheads Do you know famous movie called sengoku-JSDF? One whole division of JSDF troops were send back to Japan in 1600s, and they tried to conqure whole nation. This is the same. Everyone know only one cruiser cannot beat whole US navy even though it has cutting edge equipments. Overwhelming power requires a mountain of supplies!
@xidazoon i don't know why you guys are arguing about this whole subject. as a matter of fact practically alll your arguments and answers are more than ingeniusly presented by the anime itself and allthe problem you considered including the influence on war, ammo supply and shit has been properly considered by the plot... just WATCH THE ANIME IN WHOLE PLZ!

確かに同時に10以上の目標を攻撃できるスタンダードミサイルのほうが効率が良いのですが、設定上”みらい”はスタンダードミサイルを少ししか積んでいなかったので、使いどころを選ばなければいけなかったのでしょう。
