ok mr wright i have a situation here.... my fan light turns on, the pull string switch works but the actual fan blades dont move..... i replaced the 3 speed switch
with a westinghouse 3 speed switch. i connected it identical to the original configuration 1,2,3 and L.... no dice, it doesnt work.... money is tight what else do you suggest sir?
I wasn't sure if this would fix our fan, but I changed the switch and now it works again. Thank you so much for posting this video. Keep up the great work.
The swtich in my girlfriend's bedroom has recently gone bad and now the problem is unbearable. I wanted to repair it myself, but needed more info on the replacement. In addition, I was seeking some confidence. I wanted to try it myself. I will be going to Lowe's to get the switch and then tackling this today. My sister's two fan switches are bad, my brother and I were going to buy another. I will suggest we save some money and just replace switches instead. I will update, once project is done.
Thanks. This was exactly what I needed, down to the tip about how to support the bottom portion when it's heavy. Clear directions. One hour (including the trip to the store to buy a pull chain) and $4.33 later, we have light again. Great job!
What an incredible video. My kitchen ceiling light has been out for months. I usually pay an electrician to come by and fix. This time I decided to go on youtube to find the answer and Wow....your video was extraordinarily helpful. I watched the video two or three times and it seemed simple enough. I tried it and ...........success! What an incredible confidence booster! IT WORKED!!!!!!!!!

I am a female and have tackled all home improvement jobs with the exception of anything electrical. Your video has given me the courage to replace some fan switches today!! I will post on how I do! Thank you so much!
Thanks. This video inspired me to fix the ceiling fan myself, and it worked! :)

My chain completely disconnected from the switch, is there a way I can simply reattach the chain or do I have to go and buy another one?
