  • Wrong hand for reloading - use dominant hand to twist the speedloaders and the non-dominant to cradle the gun

  • I wish S&W would make the 686 in 45acp.

  • @Springr1911 The closest they make is a S&W model 625 that I know of.

  • I laughed my ass off when I heard that goofy music at the beginning when you said you were gonna flail. But you look badass at the end in those pictures.

  • Nice shooting! Massad Ayoob has a great video on loading revolvers with speedloaders. I notice you are using your left hand to load the cylinder, Ayoob uses his right hand. I recommend you watch his video.

  • 20:32 my favorite shot of the video

  • NTF, all ya need is a copy of Mass' Ayoob's old book Stressfire which can teach ya the Stressfire reload. Its lightnin' fast. Basically you open the cylinder with your left hand hold the gun by that cylinder tip it barrel up and whack the ejector rod. Turn the gun down and put your speedloader in. Twist the nob and release the rounds and close your gun and transition back. With a lot of practice you can do it in 3 seconds or less..... No shaking the shells lose, brother! Love th straight shootn

  • uhhh at 18:38 did he say fuck you

  • @TheMichaelsantana I believe that was "thank you".

  • @TheMichaelsantana sounded like he said "thank you" to PFI for reminding him to go offhand

  • TRR8 Review anytime soon???

  • So which did you prefer ?

    The 686P or the TRR8 ?

  • Nutnfancy, look for Massad Ayoob's video on the "stressfire" revolver reload. You might like it. Massad is pretty much an old school cop / revolver expert from the days when FBI and cops packed 357s.

  • What song is this in the beginning?

  • Wicked ricochet at 18:48.

  • Yeh using you strong hand with the speedloaders would make it easier, and those safariland comp 2 loaders are just plain easier to use, you just push it in, no twisting / fiddling.

  • Dear TNP:

You need the quick release Model Comp II speed loaders by Safariland Bro!

  • which one do you recommend the most, 686+ or GP 100?

  • THIS IS MORE ENTERTAINING THAN THE LAME FAG TV COOKS,DANCERS,SINGERS,BRIDES AND HOME SEARCHERS COMBINED! THIS IS REAL NOT ONE DIMENSION DIMWITS.

  • how many speedloaders did you bring with you you have a ton

  • If you ever get a chance, try a slicked up S&W 67. You will want to add one to your 'fun' collection.

  • go conder exspet i use it 4 airsoft

  • YOU ARE NOT USING THE SPEEDLOADER RIGHT...THAT'S WHY.

  • Great video but you need to learn to count your shots with a revolver.

  • I love watching these vids, they are interesting as well as humorous, I liked your choice of music haha, you guys should have tried dual weilded revolver runs

  • try the safari land compII speed loader

comparable size to the one you are using (assumer hks) however it is a push button release rather then a knob turning design. i think it is faster

  • You seem to shoot the .357 better then than .38. Great job on those runs.

  • what works for me on reloading with my LCR is holding the gun by the cylinder with my left hand and using the speedloader with my right....just a thought

  • Glad to see you're finally coming to the "dark side". Do me a favor though. If you are going to continue with revolvers (which I hope you do) please use a holster that covers the trigger guard. Maybe ditch the plate carrier and go with a shoulder rig for revolver runs so you don't have to spend a lot of time reconfiguring the PC? Or if you want mass for RnG use a duty belt with suspenders and ballast it down. Thanks for doing what you do.

  • Glad you reviewed the S&W 686! I've had my eyes on it for some time and I'd seriously consider any chance of getting to try it out. Unfortunatelly I neither qualify or can affourd to own a firearm.

I suppose I will have to settle with the Umarex 686 co2 revolver. I've read several owners of the 686 say it's very close to the real thing so I bet it'd likely make for a good practice gun inbetween the expensive trips to the range.

Hope to see some more wheelgun action! Cheers, nutnfancy!

  • @EagleTas Where are you stuck that you cant own a revolver?

    Its not even a semi!

  • @Kylef7735 I live in Sweden where gun laws are very restrictive. In order to qualify for handgun ownership you need to be an active competition shooter for at least a year and own an approved gun safe. The floor of my flat can't handle that weight so I'd have to move.

I'm also earning a measly minimum wage; so my options are limited. I cannot even affourd going to the range as often as I'd like to. But shooting live ammo is incredibly fun, so it's totally worth it!

  • @EagleTas You need to come to america.

  • wow 357 kicks pretty hard compared to 38s.

    Nice video!

  • I like the music that is playing while he is running!

  • Hey Nutnfancy luv the videos of course. Can you some day give a review or insight to shooting steel targets? I shoot fmj's and get nervous shooting steel. Do you shoot only lead heads at steel, especially that close range?

A tutorial on safety in this subject would be very nice.

  • Revolver in a tac rig, EPIC! I would freak if you did a Ruger police service six in Tee Dub. Tho I love revolvers, the semiauto beats it for round count and reload speed. (for most users anyhow)

  • Awesome vid; keep up the great work! If you happen to know off-hand, what are the approximate distances you're shooting here?

  • haha nutn the clown car music is classic!

  • wats the name of the music when u cant reload ?

  • @MrUranus100

    Kevin MacLeod - Scheming Weasel

  • What's Up Nutn,'

If you want an awesome trench gun in revolver platform, you must own a S&W 625 w/ the 5" barrel !! It comes in .45ACP w/ full moonclips, 10 X faster & much easier to reload, also to police your brass is even faster !!

Trust me when I say that this gun is also super accurate !!

I am a true 1911 guy, but my most accurate gun is my S&W 625 !! This gun hands down is the best all around revovler that I have ever shot !!

I love the 686, but in Run&Gun the 625 is the better gun !!

  • At around 5:20 iIve heard that song on some radio show.

  • Yeah. Like #600.

  • Not bad considering you don't shoot a revolver that much. There is an easy fix to your reloads. A lot of people who are use to training with semi-auto handguns try to reload revolvers with their weak hand. Reloading with revolvers should be done with your dominant hand, especially when using speed loaders. Also, with speed loaders, gravity is your friend. Point the muzzle down at a 90 degree angle and you won't have to fight with it as much. I like your honesty, hope to see more revolver videos

  • Great vid, loved the music around 4-8 minutes. Heard it plenty other places, it was nice to see it in here in the TNP as well. :)

  • working with a revolver takes lots of practice

  • hmm mabe try a fun run with a sngle action revolver or a .44 mag fun run

  • How close is your first target Fancy? Looks really close. Optical illusion?

  • oiy vey!

  • check out

" 037 Massad Ayoob Demonstrates the "Stressfire" reload for the Revolver "

  • Man, just keep the count of rounds! Clicking it too much squashes the striker protection :s

  • Give me a break nutn, I like your videos, but come on your "tactical situations" you represent are not true to life, and you don't demonstrate proper technique or handling in your shooting situations.

  • Hey Nutn, Im not a huge rovolver guy but i just purchased a 686 and was extremely pleased to see this video. excellent job. thanx bud.

    Glow in the Dark-Radioactive

  • Duracoat that revolver

  • "That didnt feel like a .357" skip to 6:42 and you will see just how much more the revolver jumps between a .38 and a .357

  • Nutn i've watch i think all of your videos and as a rookie i have learned so much..... also have a couple of laugh but what i like the most of all is the approach you give to shooting, both by promoting pinking, some tactical views, and fun... shooting with your friends in a fun and safe enviorement while sharing some knowledge to us new to this sport...so all the way from Chile

Best of luck and keep up the great work......

  • Hey Nutn: this is a good video as it shows how difficult it is to suddenly be out of your comfort zone (pistols) and having to adjust to new circumstances! Shoot & learn! Excellent my man! Greetings from Holland, Europe.

  • Nutnfancy love the videos keep up the good work. I need to make a video showing how to do a tactical reload with a revolver. When reloading u should push the cylinder out with your off hand ring and middle fingers, eject the spent casings with your thumb and have the speed loader in your dominate hand. This will more than cut your reload time in half. Remember gravity is your friend and point the muzzle up to eject spent rounds and down when reloading and keep the gun in close when reloading.

  • @407ForRent I agree with your method of reloading with a speed loader. it is MUCH faster and easier.

  • @Justshootinpaper Wow, I never thought to use those! Thanks for the tip.

  • you need to get a speed loader clip style

    u can just thumb feed

    probably better for you

  • Great video, and a lot of fun, but I can see why everyone uses semi-autos, especially for police departments now!!!

  • SA Operator 1911 should be in the next run.

  • ive heard pople say u run lik penguins mor lik a guy witha big gun in his hand who looks lik a tactical beast

  • I love it! It was like the grumpy old men version of trench warfare!!! made me think of jack lemon and walter mathau, don't know why. The inspector gadget theme would have worked on this one too

  • Great vid, man. The self depricating music is hysterical and shows you can poke fun at yourself. That helps with credibility. Anyway, how do you think that pistol would do as a nightstand weapon for an east coaster that will never have to conceal-carry it?

  • the music is pretty funny and well chosen xD

  • I wish the 686 wasnt so expensive but i love them too.

  • sorry to say nun but in WROL thing and u only had a revolver and an AR 15 with no more rounds for the AR youd be skrewed with out PFI DUDE

  • I own 3 pistols; a Glock 21, a Glock 19 and a Smith&Wesson 686. The one that never failed--ever was the 686. One thing to consider is if you're fighting in a confined space a revolver is the way to go. I've had brass bounce of walls or barrels whatever and land part way back into the chamber giving me an upside down stovepipe jam. Somebody put up some vid of Bill Jordan PLEASE.

  • @oeyesea WTF?

  • @juffmuffin1 Copycat feel tough on internet tosser.

  • @elchipchipperson1 go tosser, go get a life dud.

  • is this texas or new mexico or maybe somewhere else out west or southwest?

  • I wish PFI was there when I was at the range ".357 reload...."

That is much better than "click"

Pointed leverevolution rounds are great in the speedloader but hurt the wallet unless you reload your own.

I think Nutn need to go to a "cowboy action" shoot in his gear.

Good work Nutn and PFI this might help me talk my friend into getting a wheel gun (that means you PAT)

  • great vid! I run 686 6"

    with the same speed loaders.

note: LWC+speedloaders=slow. so it could be worse....

wheel gun is def a whole separate skill-set.

    I love the music....

  • The tactical guys can laugh all they want but there were no failure to go into battery's on that gun! lol I love the 686. It was my first firearm I ever got back in 1991. Being that it's an older itteration of the 686 it doesn't have the extra round capacity or the newer style hammer pin disconnect (I guess it's safer now but I never had an accidental discharge) but I will never ever ever ever get rid of it. Awesome gun. Awesome vid too!

  • You can definitly tell the difference between the .38s and the .357s just from watching.

  • why don't you do any .44?

  • Nutn, I laughed my butt off at the background music during your first run... Awesome video.. Keep up with the run and gun videos... I LOVE em!

  • Noticing it didn´t fail to feed a single time like a certian other gun.

    *coughRugercough* ;)

In all seriousness though, a heavy revolver can still be a potent and effective sidearm All comes down to use and training. While an admitted semi-auto lover, i can see quite a few occasions when a revolver would be preferable. (Comming from a pistol theorist mind you.)

  • Love the 686P. You improved on each run. Great job. Nice to see the dynamic duo back in action!

  • nutn a suggestion for the trench when you're trying to police your shell casings, (a lesson from airsofting, cos i have to make sure my reusable revolver shell cases dont go missing when im shooting) buy a wide mouthed dump pouch, and attach to the bottom of your vest at the front, or to a belt. Then when you're rounds are spent just aim them directly into the dump pouch. Take's a little practice but it works.

  • Nothing wrong with a wheel gun for a back up pistol, as in longarm, sidearm and revolver, cple of the lads in my squad used to carry up to 3 pistols(2 semi 1 wheel normaly S&W's), bit to much extra ammo to carry for me, but they swore by the revolvers as last stand weapons. Anyways as a civi now, i can see the great fun u would get outa spin'n wheels in the t-dub =]

  • Those revolvers do look like fun, and the ones I've shot recreationally are too, but the reload speed is a real barrier for me. Watching you guys trying to reload under pressure makes the whole system seem dated and unreliable for conflict use. Great for recreation, and I'm sure lots of guys have mastered the speedy reload, but I'm pretty sure I'd never make a revolver a go-to defensive gun (except against bears, maybe).

That said, tons of fun! Thanks for bringing us.

  • I love the humor, the freakin tuba music in the background made me laugh so hard. Would you PLEASE put a hydration bladder in that carrier? Seeing it empty drives me nuts for some reason.

  • What a great tune!

It really goes well with all of nutn' fumbling haha

but like he said it himself, he does not have a lot of experience reloading revolvers and even then, is probably better at it than most users who will only practice using speed revolvers in non-run n' gun scenarios (which would help simulate the stress that will probably be involved in a situation where you actually have to use one of these defensively)

  • lmao love the music, awesome as always nutn we all love what you do, keep up the great work man. I always look forward to comin home and seeing whats new on the channel.

  • can someone help me here i have the same pistol but the ejecton pin keeps coming unscrewed by its self and it is a hastle to get back in and lock it down wats wrong with my gun.

  • @Grimsonz You just need to get it tightened up properly. Take a small patch of leather, wrap it around the knurled end of the ejection rod, so as to protect the metal finish. Then use a pair of pliers to gently tighten it up a bit.

  • the gun and speed loaders have problems compared to the one ive praticed loading and un loading on. it is a S&w k frame i beleave and every thing is spring retained/held out, lever ativates cylider and pops it out keeps it out ejection rod lifts each casing almost 1/4 inch it is a reg 6 but not custom

  • hehe.. i love the music choice :) "click... click... click.. click.. BANG"

  • you did good, revolvers are a whole different creature, than a auto. it just takes practice . a tip open the cyclinder and point it strait up in the air and hit the punger and then point it strait down to reload let gravity do the work

  • Nutn, Do you purchase all of the firearms you do table top reviews on? I think you do an amazing job and I find myself now looking for your reviews on weapons I am interested in buying. Keep it up. Thanks a lot

  • Yes revolvers are fun too!!! That was an awesome few runs.....even though you suck! When I was in Law Enforcement, I used to put an empty shell on top of the empty revolver and practice finger/trigger control for hours. You cycle the cylinder without letting the hammer fall while not moving the gun too much as to keep the empty casing from falling. It really improved my scores.

  • damn, this guy his a huge amount of videos. I was wondering if he was going to do one of these ( revolver in trenchwarfare) but he already has done one.

  • Something tells me that re-loading a revolver with gloves on would be A LOT harder than with bare hands, but that's just speculation. I have a S&W 625 chambered in .45 ACP. I use moon clips and it is a very easy reload.

  • Spend the money and get the safariland speed loaders much better then the H&K ones.

  • t-dub with revolvers?thats why i love the project... "expect the unexpected"

    realy love you guys!!

  • hmmmm i actually mite look at getting one..

  • I know I know....we're all experts when sitting behind the computer. I have to say one thing about your reloads. It looks like you're using the wrong hand. I know you're a gun guy and the vids definately show that you know your stuff but in this regard you are doing it wrong. A faster reload would be to hold the gun in the left hand with the cylinder open and use the speed loader with the right hand. I'm sure you've seen the drill. Of course the dump pouches would have to be moved.

  • @shurnee I was going to say the same thing, but seen your reply. I run a S&W fullsize and a Ruger LCR, much faster and easier to drop spent and reload when doing you transition the gun to your off gun hand.

  • @jaketinaboxer My teenage daughter started shooting .357 Magnums loaded with .38's this past spring. She mastered using speed loaders very quickly by holding the gun in the left hand and reloading with the right. This is the way the NRA teaches it and if anyone has a better method I'd love to see it. What works is what works and I have no issue with improved methods. I haven't seen a better reloading drill yet though. How do you like the LCR? I almost got one this weekend but got a Kahr CW9.

  • @shurnee I like the lcr, but it is what it was designed for, a small self defence revolver. Its not a range gun. I'm still working on my reloads because since the gun is so small its hard to get the spent brass out of the cylinder fast, but on the other hand since there are only 5 rounds to get into the cylinder its easier to get the spead loader off. It kicks like a mule, but won't jam and is super light.

  • @jaketinaboxer I think we could all probably use some work with our revolver reloads. I wasn't busting on anyone in my earlier post I just wanted to point out that the method the NRA teaches seems to be the best out there at this time. I reeeeaaaallly like the LCR and walked around for an hour before buying the CW9. I'm more of a semi auto guy but I'll be very suprised if I don't have the LCR by this time next year. Ruger did a great job on the trigger and it's a great package.

  • Very fun vid. Glad to see more T-Dub runs. I really like this course. Where is PFI's run though?

  • I think you missed one. click click ...etc BANG.

Its a pretty cool reference to show the difference between pistol and revolver time wise.

Why were those .357 hitting so weak on the hostage target haha? I thought 9mm pushed that plate harder. Great vid though I sure love TDub though I miss sledge hammer a little.

  • @GreenEyesRedBeams those were .38 SPL he was mixing ammo for the cost :) .357 are way expensive

  • Does that hostage swinger plate have adjustable tension? I would love to pick one up but tend not to shoot the heavier loads as often as the smaller stuff. Seems like it takes a really hard hit to swing back and forth.

  • Not a big revolver person but Seems to go bang every time and .357 sure is a horse kick hitting you..

  • Love seeing the revolver shooting.. I'm at GP100 fan..Love the Smith also.. One well placed shot might mitigate the need for any more.

  • @tristatenews thanks, i bet it does!!!!

  • @dong82an thanks for the feedback, i appreciate it!!

  • oh ya, and thumbs up. =o

  • revolvers are for gays.

whos with me on that one?!!! =D

    ;D

  • Slow is smooth and smooth is fast, slow is smooth and smooth is fast... (any Modern Family fans out there? lol)

  • That stinks about your pistol, I found out the problem with my Kimber 45, it had a dead extractor from the factory.

  • Good stuff my man!

  • 5. After thought here so bear with... I wonder if switching the 38 and 357 helps eliminate bad funamentals (anticpating)? hmmmm.

  • Nice megaman music on the second run!

  • 1. Make a fool of yourself? On the contrary, you demonstated a williness for adapting. Don't beat yourself up, let other people do that for you.

    2. You had variations in ergonomics and situational awareness with the different weapon.

    3. God forbid you are in a fire fight and your weapons are out of ammo or unavailable the ability to pick up a different weapon and get a shot off may mean the difference between life and death (yours). Too philosophical? :-)

    4. This is one of your best videos.

  • Nutn: When using speedloaders, point the barrel straight down (the cylinder has to be parallel with the ground so that the friction will be less and gravity will pull the bullets in faster) it's much easier.

Always keep your grip; when ejecting, slam the ejector rod with the palm of your non-gun hand. Let the shells fall to the ground. As you get better, you will see that you will grip the speedloader with your thumb and fore finger, and hold the cylinder open with your last three fingers.

  • I like the M&P 15-22. Just because.

  • I carried the 6 shot version of that for my first 10 years in the 80s and 90s.

  • Great video nutn.. Revolvers are are atleast reliable lol. cough sr9 cough lol but it still prob faster to unjam the sr9 by the looks of it lol

  • Here is a serious? do you think that a wheel gun is a viable option as a SECONDARY? I wouldn't feel out gunned with one if I had a good primary rifle because if it came to pulling the #2 I'll be happy to get all 6 off. I Think USAF pilots were carrying them up until the late 80's early 90's? What do you think Nutn, I mean with a lot of practice and such.

  • Dang that was awesome! I love that revolver! ha ha I love the music you put into this video, especially the first time when you started fumbling with the reloading.

  • woaaaa, new Crye Multicam uniform, gorgeous!!!! Look how it performs at 1:30...

  • @rperelli umm Dude, i think the word your were looking for was "Tactical" rather than gorgeous.. =]

  • Comment removed

  • 8 people are terrorists. :P

  • Waw these 357 can pack a dang amount of powerful power :O

Glad you made the trench test on the 686, i LOVE this gun :)

  • Nutn, you down play yourself to much.. "I suck" "embarrassing"..

    BOLOGNA!

You are in the outdoors, with friends, having fun. THATS AWESOME! Thanks for making me spend hours upon hours on youtube.

  • @lespaul13 Thanks for the great comment and words...much appreciated. I always like some humor in the Project and make sure we don't take ourselves too seriously. Just got back from running and gunning all day again today...tired! It's dudes like you that keep me motivated in the work.

  • @nutnfancy Good point, it is cool that your able to take everything like a grain of salt!

    Awesome!

  • @nutnfancy Yeah man, you are a pretty awesome shot, actually.

  • This looks like the same day as the SR-9 video. Great shooting, that is one sweet gun. Pretty cool to see you out there having fun with a wheel gun! That's what we like about you. Thanks NutN

  • should place buckets for shell dumps

  • @heslipscott thats actually a really good idea

  • SOLID SHOOTING. man i can't imagine reloading that thing under stress

  • solid shooting reloading would be hard wow

  • There's a reason my 21 year old 686 continues to be my bedside weapon. Its arguably one of the finest revolvers S&W ever made, and boy is it accurate round after round!

  • Great vid. Awsome. As usual, great information and execution. Thanks. Why you don't have a tv show, I don't know. You have raised the bar Nutn.

  • .357's rock!......But not in a run n gun. Thanks for the vid., (and I fell bad saying it) but kinda boring.

  • nutnfancy should go for president or at least govener for texas hes the next chuck norris he needs a bibble written after him i think he can cure world hunger and are economy problems with his kool way of thinking god bless nutnfancy god bless america

  • I love when you talk spanish...lol

  • It was a nice surprise to see you run a revolver Nutn..... I like revolvers but just when you start having fun you have to reload them lol...... need to run a S&W 500 next time hahahaha I would cry if you ran a 500...... I don't even wanna know how much you'd spend on ammo.

  • Tac-Force Holsters Rock! Referring morally to the "Tac-Force Uni-Tac Drop Leg/Universal Drop Leg" Holster, Going to be Doing A Review On One, You Guys Outa Definitely Check One Out Ether/Either Don't Really Matter Witch One and + Thay Will Fit Handguns With Weapon Lights)

  • This video is cute in a badass way , Awesome as always !

  • gotta love tnp music

  • Look for your weak points and then practice, practice. Love watching revolvers in the trench and dirt with no real problems. I could not do that with my baby S&W 25-5 45 Long Colt.

    Stephen

  • haha That .357 swings that hostage plate like nothing else!

  • didnt know nutin got a yesman

  • @MercenaryNL whats that ment to mean Merc??

  • Very cool watching you run with a revolver. 357's kick like mules. Reload and speed just plain Suck, but Man are they fun to shoot. My brother had a Colt Python and to this day it was the most enjoyable gun I have ever shot. We crammed 38 wad cutters through that thing all day. Nice video Nutn.

  • wheres PFI'S run?

  • I like the chest rig setup and might have to check out the 5.11 universal holster. Do y'all have any plans for .22 revolvers? Nice shooting and thanks for posting!

  • @nutnfancy If .375 is a smaller actual diameter round, why does is have a larger impact than the .38 special?

  • @krotchkoman

.357 and .38 are actually the exact same diameter bullet. What makes it confusing is that the .38 is an old round from back in the day when they measured the case size, not the bullet. That is why you can shoot a .38 out of a .357. The only difference is the length of the case and amount of powder.

  • @Casparado1 Thanks for clearing that up Casparado. Also, i realized i had a typo, i meant to say .357 but thank you for understanding. Take care.

  • Is it against the rules to pull the hammer back and then fire?

  • @Olorinii nope... should he be? maybe he dosent want to.

  • @ripshot2222

I would guess that that he wants, specifically, to practice the doulbe action trigger on that, since in a tactical defensive shoot you wouldn't necesarily take the time to pull the hammer back each time. While a single action trigger pull is more accurate, its probabbly not what he's training for this day.
