Wonderful video. Turning these floats, some of which are 600 years old and weigh many tons, takes grease, banana leaves, and lots of manpower. The Gion procession, which culminates the four day festival, takes about 2 1/2 hours and has been held every July 17th since 869.

祇園祭の時 祭る牛頭天王,,,
八坂神社の 由緒記略と 八坂御鎭座大神之記には 新羅国の牛頭山にいらっしゃる 素盞烏尊を 京都に仕えて 祭祀を執り行なうと記録されている。久米邦武は 素盞烏尊が新羅の神だと主張して困難を経験するようになる。牛頭山は韓国の伽揶山の隣にある山でもある。
日本は牛頭天王が印度から来たと捏造する。
