Judy Garland's original in "Meet me in Saint Louis" was truer to the essential sadness of this song. Instead of "hang a shining star on the highest bough" we have "until then we have to muddle through somehow". This song is special precisely because it is one of the few that resonates with those who are lonely at Christmas. In WW2 the troops used to cry whilst listening to it. Coldplay... please do a revised version, restoring the original lyrics!
