Good to hear this so raw but they didn't sing the best line in the song, the unbelievable ' Where you live should not decide, whether you live or whether you die'
Bono always said before they played this song in the 05-06 tour, we are still trying to figure out how to play this live. I guess they never figured out how to play the song live, because they didn't play it many times live...
Atomic Bomb had some of Bono's finest lyrics. I think this song ranks among his best - "with a mouth full of teeth you ate all your friends, and you broke every heart thinking every heart mends". I had a friend just like that.
I didnt care much for the last two U2 albums, beyond a few songs on each that I thought were absolutely brilliant, and this song is the true gem on Atomic Bomb, it would have fit in perfectly on Joshua Tree.
Fortunately, it sounds like the new album is more geared towards this harder, edgier old-school U2 sound of the past (despite the horrible "Boots" single), and this song was probably an early indicator of it.
How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb is their most lively, liberating experience in music I believe. I love U2, it makes me want to get up and drive a convertible car into the city with this music blaring. Fuckin' amazing music.
There is a special edition Vertigo CD which comes with a DVD. It's pretty sweet, it has an acoustic version of Sometime You Can't Make It, a video of when they were singing SYCMI in the studio, 2 different versions of vertigo, and this. It also has a small documentary at the beginning...
Most of the songs aren't anything special, just slightly tweaked versions of the recorded song (the one is just U2 lip synching and rocking out to Vertigo in a cool room, kinda like a music video).
Can anyone one please tell me what lyrics does bono sings in the part "where you live should not decide whether you live or whether you die....." ???

just because the sound is crappy and you can't hear the drums much it's not an "unplugged" version, dude

The definitive version of this song, because it captures the immediacy of Bono's lyrics better than the studio version. Thanks for the post.
